Westcoast, $29.99 is a solid price for a pack of legendary, they are at least $40 CDN here. But beware, although their are alot of sweet graphs to be pulled, there some weak ones as well, but I have had luck, so I bid you the same ;)

Yeah Chris, whats with all the "Bert bashing"? Bert's from my hometown, and although I do not agree with what he did, he served his time. No one talks about McSorley anymore, nor have they for a few years now. All you have Avs fans ;) :D

Pacific Trading Cards Sold


The Crown Royale has passed to another head. So too has the Prism, the Titanium, the Private Stock and the Luxury Suite.



Hobby veteran Mike Cramer confirmed today to Beckett Hockey that he has sold his company, Pacific Trading Cards, to another industry entity. Terms were not disclosed. Neither was the name of the purchaser.


"I don't want to say who right now, because they'll want to make their own announcement," Cramer said. "But it's one of the other card companies."


The transaction involved 13 brand names used in the past by Pacific in the manufacture of hockey products. According to Cramer, the purchaser intends to continue the Pacific legacy by creating hockey cards under those brand names.


"Every company came around and checked us out," he says. "They saw we had quite a following, and that our name had value. [Selling the names] was the best way to do this. Pacific will surivive as a brand. The new owners have other irons in the fire. They can wait it out until hockey comes out [of its ongoing labor disruption] and they'll be in a good position to make a go of it.""


As for Cramer, a pioneer of the hobby's early days, this marks the end of his involvement in the industry as a manufacturer.


"For me, it's sayonara," he says. "I'll still be around as a collector. I still have one of the premier baseball card collections in the world. But I'm out of it entirely on this end."


After nearly 20 years on the manufacturing side of the equation, Cramer says the transition won't be easy.


"On the one hand, I'm sad," he says. "I'll miss all the business relationships and friendships. Some of the best times I've ever had were in this business.


"But as someone who's been in this for so long, I could see the writing was on the wall. We couldn't make a go of it with no products to produce."


So, who is the purchaser? Speculation focuses directly on Arlington, Texas-based Donruss/Playoff. The company, which has established itself as a dominant force in the baseball and football markets, is flush with cash and is in an excellent position to take on a new challenge in the hockey market. It also has long been rumored to be interested in expanding into the hockey and basketball markets.


A company spokesman chose not to comment on the story at this time.


Upper Deck is also in strong financial position, but with a healthy stable of its own hockey brands, it would be surprising to see it add the Pacific brands. A recent call for comment has not yet been returned.


Former NHL and NHLPA licensee Fleer is considered an extreme darkhorse in the derby, based on the company's previous unsatisfactory involvement with hockey trading cards.
Peter Sawkins of Topps and Baron Bedesky of In The Game both denied that their companies were involved in the deal.

Just a wanted to share a quick posiitve story about hockey... After today's morning skate... which 8 guys skated because the werent making the trip to houston... this young kid waited for about 20 minutes for someone to come off the ice. I was in the training room and Stephen Weiss came in with a confused look on his face, and said he was looking for a dry puck because a kid was asking for an auto. I went and got one for him and then we realized that all we had was a black sharpie. I saw some tape and figured we could cover the top and sign in black and everything would be cool. The kid had no idea who Weiss was, but was in awe of having a rampage player's auto. All in all, Weiss took about five minutes out of his day to search and hunt down something to auto and go through obsticles to make it work. I just thought it was a class act to make someone's day.

Stevie is a good kid. My girlfriend's dad used to coach him up here in Toronto for the Young Nats, and of course she had to wash the jerseys..I met him once..tell him that Coach Bates says skate harder and to send an autographed jersey up here, hehe. I betcha he remembers. I would also like to add that when he gets back to the Panthers to start scoring some goals because my rookie cards are not moving up in value :D

as long as your moose finish behind us I have no problem with them...Rampage won last night 4-3 in exhibition play. Rob Globke (Notre Dame) scored the game winner on the PP with 6 seconds to play. We had a really good size crowd down in San Antonio, which I hope is a sign of things to come. The AHL should be a lot of fun this year and if you have a team that is close you should check it out.

I don't have NHL or AHL around here, unless I drive 4 hours to watch the Chicago Wolves or Grand Rapids Griffins. But I have the 4th best league the UHL and I can watch the Fort Wayne Komets!! It's actually better Hockey then what I have seen at the NHL level before, but just a small 12-14 team league.

Another guy bought a box from the same dealer i got mine from, and got the same card as me. That only makes 7 others out there! :eek: Mine was 3 colors, though. His was 2! :D

yes for the base parallels, no for the jerseys. Don't know why they don't list the gold jersey parallel though

Well for sure email him about it and tell him you aren't happy. If he's got perfect feedback and is a power seller, you'd think he would try help you out by giving you a partial or full refund. Just let him know that you are upset and that you wouldn't have bought the card if you'd known about the stains and see what he says.

My friend's dad has been a big collector for years, has recently gotten into golf cards and has done a lot for me over the past year and a half to assist me with my hockey collection, so this is really a great guy...

Saturday he goes and buys a case of baseball cards and when cracking them open comes across a Babe Ruth Jersey / Auto card!!! Their not sure of the value, but it was one of 2 produced.
I have to go over and see it, my friend hasn't even been to his dad's place yet to take a look, but he figures that he's never going to sell it, doesn't need the money and it is not officially the prized possession of his sports collection.

great pull man , he could probably get a crap load for that card on ebay easy.

i get my first graded cards back frome beckett this week and im kind of dissapointed . they only pulled 9's on my mario autoed jersey and my thornton autod jersey .
these cards were absolutely perfect , i looked at em through a magnifying glass as was sure ide get 9.5's or a 10 maybe .
but hey its all good i suppose .

ill try and post pics once i get my scanner workin again .

my lombardi only got a 9 too which i was kida bummed about but hey its all good .

So yesterday morning I had mail waiting for me, I busted it open in excitement because it was my Ultimate Lemieux auto/rookie jersey. Well after admiring the card I turn it over only to see 3 BLUE STAINS on the card not really big but easly visible. Not on the wrapper the card was in, not on the beckett case those cards come in but on the actual card. I didnt pay $144 to have blue marks on the card. It must of come like that right out of the package since its in a beckett case unless the seller took it out. It was responsibility to put this in the description right when he put it up on ebay? I wouldnt of bid on it if i had known about the marks. Hes got perfect feedback and hes a power seller. I should ask for a refund right? Since i wasnt ever planning on reselling this card and have it displayed leaning against a mcfarlane figure so the backs not visible I was gonna let it slide but I just cant stop thinking about the marks. :( :( :(
Was this from Ultimate??? Anyway, email BAP and tell them you pulled it from a pack, and that you are outraged that you spent so much money on a pack only to have a card in it that has ink stains on it

It is VERY RARE to get a grade of 9.5 or 10 from BGS. Don't be bummed... 9 is a great grade from BGS.

Yeah, when we were talking about it on Saturday my friend figured value would be that range.
His dad just wants to hold onto it, to me it would be a downpayment on a house, to him it's a great card.
I honestly hopes he does just hold onto it, able to pass it along in the family.

We were assuming that the auto is likely from an old game sheet or a cashed cheque, haven't seen it so for know it is just a mystery.

They are signed to Smallman Records here in Winnipeg, but I think that they are from Ontario.

I might go so far as to bust SPx or a couple of cheap boxes like C55 again and maybe Mask Collection or another Classic Portraits if Face-Off has them for 70 bucks. Pacific 2005 would be fun, but it's too damn expensive. I think I'm going to buy a pack of Luxury Sweet cause Joe Daly has 'em for 37 Cdn.

I know what you mean. My victory rookie redemption set took 8 days to get. One of the redemptions that shipped last week was from 2004 UD NFL I redeemed it in December and they're just sending it now. My portraits and rookie update redemptions I've only been waiting 2 weeks for.

Gratzi- Supreme, Luxury Suite, Titanium, Private Stock, Prism, Quest for the Cup, Heads Up, Calder, Exhibit, Invincible, Crown Royale. I think that should just about cover it. As far as I've seen not all the Pacific brands have dropped yet, a couple have thus far but it looks like alot of them will follow suit.

Just a heads up guys, Pacific Trading Cards whent Bankrupt (as I've read any my 2 card shop owners had told me as well).

One company, has not been releases yet (but sources claim it to be Donruss), had bought the brand names of some Pacific products- Luxury Suite, Crown Royale, Prism, Exhibit, Titanium as well as couple others. However, it seems brands like Head-Up, regular Pacific, Invincable, AHL Prospects, and Calder, we've seen the last of.

I got this information from Beckett, as part of my weekly email, and posted this info on this thread last Friday I believe. Donruss is rumoured to be the favorite, because of the fact that they are wanting to get back into Hockey, and BAP-In The Game, may be starting to struggle themselves, and Upper Deck may not to risk there stronghold over the hockey card indusrty, by adding more products to an already full line-up of there own.
