Well this sucks indeed, only a little over $300 the bid was.

I had in my auction that a dealer could make money by buying the collection, and re-selling the cards individually. I think I just might do that (I THINK I'd make more than the $800 reserve).

I think I'll list individually all my cares above $5 in BV, and put the rest together into team specific lots. Does that seem like a good idea?

It's more of a pain in the butt but you will make way more if you sell them individually.

His H&P auto card was selling for under $10, now there is one on ebay going for $27.50. The Sabres redemption from SPA has jumped as well.

OK, for me, the time and effort to break up the collection is not a factor.

Does that sound good, to put the $5 BV + cards for $1-$5 starting bid, and the rest as team lots? I would like to think that I'd be able to get at least $700 after eBay fees and such if I did it that way.

Would you guys want to see a list of the $5 + cards to better gage a value?

His H&P auto card was selling for under $10, now there is one on ebay going for $27.50. The Sabres redemption from SPA has jumped as well.

the reason we're doing that is because it meets RC definitions we tend to use.

The issue that Beckett has is with the distribution pattern, that being that it was only available on the 'net, and not in stores. It's the same reson why ITG's Rookie Debut cards from '03-04 are not considered RCs, nor any of the eTopps cards.

The bottom line is that net-only distribution is just another outlet for companies to use. I could understand possibly if it wasn't accessible to the majority of the collecting world (hence why regional cards are not RCs), but anyone can get them by simply going into a cafe or bookstore, if you don't have the 'net at home.
