Gratzi, take it to a card shop and see what they would give as a fair grade, and then check Ebay/Beckett to see what there going for.

Gratzi - unless it grades as MINT or NRMT it probably won't add much to the value. Beckett is the most reputable company to grade. I don't care much for graded cards especially when they're graded by "Joe Shmos" and given a 10.
I believe the cost depends on how many cards you submit and how fast you want it back.

Gratz,

Either Beckett or PSA will give you a good grade. They're the highest regarded. A noth loower are KSA (Kressler) and SCG (Krause). Kressler, being a Canadian company, doesn't get a lot of respect, and i think SCG is done. All others are crap.

as mentioned, you really have to have a minimum of an 8.5 grade to be anything that has a higher value. 8 pretty much = book.

I suggest going over the card yourself or with a dealer you trust witha magnifying glass before sending it anywhere.

Also, weigh your options. Dealers tend to go 1/4-1/3 on book on a sale, a little bit more on a trade. eBay is an option only, really, when Lemieux gets hot. Best would be to post it in a trade forum

Quincy was actually pretty fair with it, it books for quite a bit in beckett and he was basically going to offer half of book. thats with gold 2x mulitplier.

From reading the Beckett Forums, I think he's a lot nicer then a lot of those guys. I much prefer staying over here :D

Thats what the Coinstar machine is for!!! I save all the change in my car and when it accumulates enough I go to the Coinstar machine and use it for packs!!!

I sold the Roenick Ultimate Patch for $50 and sent it to NY on Oct 26. Still hasn't got there. Looks like I'm going to have to refund the guy's money. I'm not worried about the guy's credibility (ncm0297). Maybe I'll try and work something out with him.

It's not a bad one, he has really improved since he was with the Wheat Kings and in the last couple years. I doubt he will ever be a starter in the NHL but maybe a back up somewhere.

Thanks for the comments guys. There were about three cases cracked while I was there. Two cases had a Crosby each, and one case had two of them. Big playmakers, notable numbers, and triple jerseys were 1 per case as well. I saw 2 patches out of 15. One was Esche, black and white. And one was an awesome Kolzig 3 color, looked like the the edge of the top of the "I" in his name. I like the look of the set and the insert sets as well. Upper Deck Series one gets a solid 2 thumbs up from me!

I spent barely over double my weekend admission in cards. 12 of em in total....wasn't the greatest of expos for me.

Got a dealer to tell me to get the F outta here, that guy in the cage for those of you who've been.
He wasn't impressed that I was pissed having to wait 5 minutes behind one of their idiots working there, and then wait on him while I went to the front, and then he tried to give me a bag, after I said "that's ok, I don't need it" so he goes "nah, take it, you can use it" so I left it there and said "you can have that" and walked away, and he said "ah get the F outta here"
so.. needless ot say, I won't be shopping there next time. haha.
actually, I got told to get the F out of the entire expo on saturday night, by some power tripping woman. long story short my mom who also went was inside looking for me so we could leave (it was about 6:05, so they were technically closed) and she was in there somewhere, it was pretty empty, so, this woman comes along and starts playing 10 questions with me, and then says "well, unless she's working here, she won't be in here" I said "so basically get the F out right?"
anyway, she was in there, i was right, she was an idiot, i wasn't surprised as the folks running it seem to have more idiot genes than otherwise.


I hope Bob comes next time, he was a very noticable absence from the spo for me, I assume there's some politics in them not being there, went from maybe mark will come next time and maybe they'll sell stuff, to, yeah, we aren't going to be there in any capacity.

The problem with the show is the promoter, Al Sinclair. This show has been on the decline every year for the past 5 I've been to. He won't try anything new, the autograph guests have sucked for the most part, and he's just an idiot! This is why Mcfarlane won't ever bring an exclusive here! People won't go to the show, because of this idiot, and no people equals no exclusive! I have a gut feeling that TMP didn't come, because they felt it's a waste of time. Time for Al to step down as show promoter, and let someone like Hersh Borenstein take it over. At least we'll have a decent autograph lineup! The Toronto Expo could be huge, if it was run properly! Hell, i didn't even go to this one, because the last few have sucked! :rolleyes:

This one was pretty good overall, dealers did well, but mostly all based on Crosby buzz.
Autograph guests for this one were pathetic.

UD was the only corprate I even stopped at.

Couldn't agree more Troy.

This one was pretty good overall, dealers did well, but mostly all based on Crosby buzz.
Autograph guests for this one were pathetic.

UD was the only corprate I even stopped at.

At least it will be run the right way! Are you going to Jagr tonight? Kinda pricy, but fair for Jagr. His auto from the last signing is $119US, so $49 + $7 for the picture isn't too bad I guess. He doesn't have a lot of auto'd cards on the market.
