The Bruins teammates card was nice, I like the Bower and I definitely like the Orr card....but all in all, I do not think I would ever purchase another box of this set. I was really hoping for a nice Habs Patrick Roy jersey card or even a "Cornerstones" original 6 card.....oh well, live and learn. These will all be going on Ebay with the possible exception of the Bower and Orr....and I might even sell those as well....

you should try and get an Under Glass auto... they are probably the coolest cards I have ever seen (gretzky was just icing on the cake!!!). They are made of plexiglass and are as thick as a patch card. The word ICE is cut through the glass

The Under Glass autos really are amazing cards

Damn hokie, you gotta stop buying those boxes of Ultimate. On a side note, how do they work? One card a pack or do they even come in packs with those giant cases they come in? And how many packs per box?

Actually I have only purchased one box of Ultimate. The other 2 boxes you are thinking of are those Pacific Luxury Suite boxes I cracked. I was equally disappointed with those as well. I am addicted to the thrill of opening the high-end stuff I suppose.

The Ultimate boxes have 5 packs per box with 2 cards per pack. Every card in the base set is autographed, so you get one autographed card per pack and one memorabilia card per pack. The autograph base card comes in a sealed toploader, the memorabilia card comes in a Beckett protector.

I'm going to put about $15 maybe $20 aside each week until I have enough for 2 more boxes of Ice. At $20 a week... thats only about 7 weeks!!!!!!! Then again... maybe I'll hold off until December for the TRISTAR show... I didn't get to go to the last one. TRISTAR puts on a great show... lots of tables, good autograph guests, and great dealers from all around the US and Canada!!! I don't think they have any shows that go to Canada though... just US

Does anyone know if European cards have any value among collectors? I only collect Forsberg cards myself and have a few European (mostly Swedish) of him, and some while ago I bought a Russian card from Ebay, can't even read the writing on it as it uses the Cyrillic alphabet, but it's a pretty nice addition to my collection anyway even if it's not worth much money. Anyone into Euro cards?

Ferone, well I collect GU/Auto's of Koivu, Theodore, Naslund, Bertuzzi, Thornton, Tootoo, Iginla, Brodeur and Lafleur. I would also consider trading for sealed pack(s) or box of cards. The Bryan Trottier reg. mini bust books for $30 U.S., but the bronze is 2.5X reg. value, so about $60 U.S. If you wanted to buy I would not charge you that much, but in a trade, I think the value is fair.

Tim, nice to have you back. LMK what you want to do about those cards I got for, were you able to get any of the cards I need to complete my sets???

Guys - I need your advice.

Last week I won a 1979-80 OPC Wayne Gretzky rookie card on Ebay. I got the card a couple days ago in the mail. THE CARD IS A FAKE.

As you guys probably know, all REAL Gretzky OPC rookies have a small print flaw that shows on Gretz's upper left arm in the card photo. This flaw is on EVERY OPC Gretz rookie and is well-known. The picture of the card in the auction was taken at a slight angle and there was some reflection that made it impossible to tell in the auction if the card was real.

I did email the seller prior to bidding and asked him if the card was the real deal or a reprint or a fake. He replied saying it was the real deal.

I haven't had a chance to examine the card with a loupe to see if any dot-matrix printing is visible on the text of the card. Most likely, there is dot-matrix printing on it which is another clue.

Anyway - I've already filed a fraud report with Ebay and also with Square Trade (I filed with a Square Trade moderator, so that was $20). I also contacted SGC (a local grading company here in New Jersey). I explained the whole situation to them and they said they will examine the card and provide me with a "grading rejection notice" as well as a document stating that the card is indeed a forgery. They have promised to do a turnaround on it in 1 day (costs me $30 but oh well).

I paid $108.50 for this card (used PayPal). PayPal won't cover a problem like this. Their user agreement only covers whether or not you actually receive the item. They have no claim coverage if the item you receive is mis-represented or damaged. So my Ebay fraud claim is my only hope. I also emailed the seller and asked him to make it right by refunding my money. I haven't left negative feedback yet - mainly because the seller still has not left me any feedback and I don't feel like getting a retaliatory negative comment from him over this.

So what do you think? Am I going overboard with this? I spent $108.50 on the card. Now I will be spending $20 for the Square Trade moderator as well as an additional $30 for SGC to provide me with documentation proving it is a forgery?

Do you think I'm handing this correctly or should I just suck it up and let this guy get away with this??

Oh, the seller's Ebay ID is "vargeasy", so AVOID any & all auctions this person has up in the future.

No you are 100% not wrong here. Why would anyone want a fake Gretzky RC, even if they only paid 100 bucks for it. I don't really know what kind of advice to give except don't let him get away with it. Possible that he didn't know but still, that's 110 bucks on the card, 20 on the STM and 30 on SGC that you've had to spend on pretty much nothing. I don't know about you, but I would never flush 160 bucks down the toilet. Fight this and try get some or all of your money back.

I will have the documentation in my hands from SGC stating the card is a fake tomorrow at lunchtime (they are within driving distance of my office). That document alone should be enough legal evidence to nail this clown.

Yes I know about that one, as the seller emailed me on the weekend saying that he was going to list the Weir card, and was wondering if I was interested, as i got outbid on the other! LOL!! Honestly I'd go after it, but I don't think he has paypal, so I'm passing! I wasn't even watching the Weir/Perry card, but noticed it with only a couple minutes to go! Through up a bid and it stuck! :D Not a bad price for a card like that! Koivu is my favorite player, and the pull is truly priceless. It came with a certificate of authenticity. I would try and get a Book Value, but the /5 are to scarce to price. The one out of /48, books for $50, so I assume at least 3-4 times that.

Thanks guys, if I ever have the ability to post a pic I will...You really don't know how feel when you pull something so rare of your fav. player. I mean in a card collectors life, they probably only pull maybe a handful of truly priceless cards of players that they like, if they are lucky. I would have been amazed to have pulled any type of BuyBack, but for it to be of my fav. player, it just makes it all the more sweeter...Jeez, it makes that Ice RC of Fleury seem like A DECENT PULL ;) :D

Just thought id get in on the card discussion

I post over at the beckett board and hobbyinsider.net(mainly) so i may have talked to a few of you guys before.
I build a few sets every year, (always UD, did the bowman chromes this year as well, also working on a 02-03 SPGU first rounders patch set), collect Minnesota Wild cards, and former Golden Gophers (Leopold, Taffe, Pohl, Martin, soon to be Vanek ect) . Im closing in on owning a copy of every P.M. Bouchard card...dang Pacific parallels are holding me back.
So yeah, just thought another guy adding to the thread wouldnt hurt.

BTW that Roy Pristine card is nice. Didnt see a whole lot of multicolored patches out of that product.
