Although the Auto Ovechkin is the nicest I've seen so far from that set. :)


They do kinda look like crap,
The inserts are nice, but, the base set looks like junk.

A certified auto is a certified auto, if it means that a non-GU card gets auto'd i'm not as impressed. But if a GU card gets an auto that normally wouldn't... i give it a thumbs up.

I agree Quikman, a lot of those inserts from 94-99 were some of the nicest cards to come out. Especially from the 97-98 cards. As for you wants, I can say those Promo cards will be tough to find. I have most of the Les Gardiens Promo set but no Roy

I agree, some of those Pacific and Pinnacle sets were rediculious like do you really need grey and dark grey parallels of a card? Or different golds and silvers. Though a lot of the Pinnacle Certified parallels were nice, they were a pain to find and still are. But when you pulled one it was worth it, such a nice card

Well i have only collected Patrick Roy so I almost never bought packs I spent those money on Roy cards insteed besides I never were that luckey with packs anyway ;)

guys - i gotta show some love for my g/f who is finally buying into the idea that valentines day doesn't consist of $80 roses and reservations in a stupidly busy restaurant and all that other fake crap. we watched the olympics in bed for about 6 hours, i made pancakes, went out for a drive (coldness foiled our plans), grabbed a quick bite to eat for a late lunch, then suffered through Elizabeth town on DVD (do NOT rent it... it's bad. and i can handle girlie movies). and that was the end of it. we didn't even buy presents for each other :eek: total cost on the day? $30 including gas, a movie, and some food (...lots of pancake mix left if anyone is up for breakfast :p ).

anyway, i've successfully fought the power - ain't no greeting card/restaurant/flower store/jewlery company going to tell me when i love my girlfriend and then charge me triple the price for the privilidge of showing her a good time. :cool:

I normally don't even bother with an auction if the shipping is more then $3.00. I know once you buy a bubble envelope, postage and top loader it works out to about $1.75 in canada and $2.50 to the U.S

that's cool tim - i'm looking at a few others on ebay right now, some cheaper autos. we'll see what happens (and what is in that 40 card lot) so i can buy accordingly. i don't think i'll try to buy all of them, just to build up a bunch.

Brew - you have no hope of getting both of them to sign it at the same time, i think they do a lot of it at their own home (if the sunflower seeds in my envelope were any indication). but it's definately a project worth taking on even if you have to do it over the course of two seasons. :)

what do you guys do with all the extra cards you don't want? i've got some older stuff (you know the score, proset, UD, leaf deal...) and it's in boxes but i'm thinking of just scaling it down to a few teams and star players. are all the cards just going into the garbage? or can you think of something productive to do with 'em?

SPX rookies and Spezza are from my Crosby Winning Materials in a trade.

Leetch and Fleury are Ebay.

I gave a bunch of my old stuff to kids. I sortrd through what I wanted and gave it too them. Just before I started on this post I dumped a large lot out at the curb ( picked through of course ) and wrote on the box Hockey Cards. I'm sure the GM's kids got them LOL

bit the bullet and BIN'd a Mahovlich gold in a Ebay Store for $30 US.... that makes 5 cards remaining, 1 of which I know where to get it.
