If you don't know who he is, you must just be digging for Crosby/Ovechkin.
he's top 10 this year I'd say, just off the top of my head of this years rookie crop, maybe top 15. I'm looking for others....just never heard of him. I guess I did better then I thought, it's out of 100.

Got an Ovechkin AND Danis Rookie update in the Beckett I picked up today. The Ovechkin was stuck between the Danis and the card it was glued too. I didn't even realize there was a card in there until I got it home and started to read it, I was pleasantly surprised to say the least.

Also received a Stoll/Leclair Rookie update card which was the second last card I need to complete my team set (well of what players have jersey cards anyway). Now if i can just track down the Jussi Markkanen from the BTP set.

Upper Deck just sent me another Ovechkin Rookie Showcase card! :eek: I definetly didn't get the beckett one the first time, or they just sent me another beckett one, because they are the exact same color. To ebay one goes, into the collection with the other. :D

Also being a hardcore Bruins fan I don't understand why there hasn't been that much buzz about Brad Boyes. He's 6th in Rookie scoring behind Ovechkin,Svatos,Crosby,Prucha,& Vanek, 3rd in assists behind Crosby & Ovechkin, 4th in points behind Ovechkin,Crosby, & Svatos, 4th in Point Percentage behind Ovechkin,Crosby, & Svatos, and 8th in +/- Ovechkin,Crosby, & Svatos aren't even in the top 90, I believe he's being overlooked I'm not saying he' should win the Calder Trophy because he shouldn't Ovechkin should, I just think he's being over looked what do you think?

Here's the definition I posted on the Card Corner boards a couple months back

- A rookie card must be part of a base set. It can be part of a subset therein and have added features such as serial-numbering, autographs and jerseys, but the primary clause is that it must be part of the main set.

- A rookie card cannot be an insert or a parallel.

- A rookie card can be a redemption card, as long as the redemption follows the same numbering as the set (see OPC's redemptions from the '01-02 and '02-03 sets).

- In order for a set to qualify as 'RC eligible', it has to be a "widely available" set. This, in the past has meant what I refer to as "standard releases", ie. those available in hobby or retail outlets.*

- An "RC eligible" set can be either in pack or boxed form.

- An "RC eligible" set must have licensing from at least one governing body, those being the league (NHL) and its corresponding players association (NHLPA).

- RCs cannot come from regional or premium sets. Regional refers to cards such as team sets, while premium sets are those which you have to buy a non-card item (eg. McDonald's fries) in order to get the cards.

Now, there are a couple debates on-going in the hobby which I will quickly note:

- I asterisked the point on "standard release" sets because there is a big debate in Beckett regarding online cards like Rookie Showcase and eTopps, because they are only available online. Personally, like mail order sets (Young Superstars comes to mind), I consider these to be RCs as they qualify as being "widely available". There isn't a collector today who can't either click on at home or go into a web cafe and place an order.

- The Original Six sets that ITG did a couple years ago raised debates, since the sets were team oriented and viewed by Beckett and others as being "regional" sets, despite being released internationally. Same would go for the various Yankees sets UD produced.

The next big debate will come as alumni bodies like the NHL Alumni start to become more active in licensing. IF that comes to play a major part, further restrictions could be put in place.

It was this years Fleer Ultra that got me interested in cards again. I bought 3 of the hobby boxes and got a very good selection of cards. I got all but 47 of the base cards with very few doubles. Nice set of cards.

Saints...Aebi made 36 saves last night. If you watched SportsCentre you would be amazed just how many great saves he managed to pull off. Blaming him for the loss would just be wrong. He played amazing.

Hello, wanted to show everyone my one and only project.

This is the only card I collect.

2001-02 Titanium Double Sided Jersey Marty Turco/Brendan Morrison #57 Regular and Patch jersey cards.

I've been hounding many of you for months now and this is what I've accomplished so far.

I have 32 Regular jersey cards and 6 Patch jersey cards in hand. Many others are in route.

Anyways, its my birthday this Sunday and my friend in Toronto sent me an email today saying she got me a present. Well, she managed to get me a Alexander Steen game used stick! The stick shows awesome wear and is fully tape and namestamped... I can't wait to get it when I return to Toronto in 2 weeks :)

Well, decided to add one more player to a potential chase - Nolan Baumgartner. Most of his cards came out in 94-5 and 96-7 so they'll be easy to snag. the only problem card would be 98-9's 1/1.

Beckett's my collection lists 97 cards total, so unless he makes any late sets (UD2?) i don't imagine he'll have any this year, save for the cameo on the Panini in action sticker.

The pull was wicked - an Ovechkin gold-plated.

So now the burning question. the card included is of standard size, dual-licensed, has all the right streams

Hey Gratzi, I have no idea who that glines character is. Like brew says he goes after the first one of the rare flames cards that appears on ebay then you don't see him again. He always puts a big bid on cards. I have bid a couple up beyond what I wanted to pay and he still outbid me.......now I just wait for the 2nd one to appear. If he or her has already bid on a card don't even bother unless you want to pay.............

Hey guys,

I've decided to create a blog for the error cards I've found from UD recently. This is more to educate folks as opposed to flat out UD bashing. This way when people ask about questionable UD cards and can't find the posts or remember what it was, I'll have it in the blog. At the end of the year, I'll send the link to someone over at UD to show them what improvements should be made if they're going to hold an exclusive license for the next five years. Hopefully they take it into consideration and things get done.

This isn't so much for questionable cards or redemption and Customer Service complaints. Although I'm sure some will be listed. This is more for the outright wrong cards. In the end, I'm hoping this helps UD produce better cards for collectors in the future rather than being interpreted as a bash session.

I think it is from the base UD brand. UD Exclusives Tier 2 out of /25 is X 100. So base card is $1.25X100 = $125. I didn't think they priced cards of 25, or less. :o

It was the SIGnifiance auto /25, I don't usually care about all the parallels sinceI have the /100 coming but it was at a decent price. The scans don't do justice. It is truly a beautiful card, and I can't wait now to pick up the Aebischer Auto Draft.

I think the overall design of SPGU is awesome! I like the Authentic Fabrics design, Awesome Authentics are nice, all of the auto cards are really nice looking, and who could forget the endorsed equipment!!!

Why dont I send it to you and if you come across something comparable in Bergeron or Neely you send it my way? And when I say comparable I dont mean an autograph numbered to 25 but something in that 20 dollar price range? I figured it was probably worth $60-$80 if not more and there was no way it was going to last more than a few minutes. Hopefully the guy honors the sale and didnt mean to put it out at 99.99.

No there are a few cards of Phaneuf from SPGU that have him dressed in the Atlanta Flames logo. Well one for sure, the Game gear card.

Great Phaneuf collection you get there burn!! You have a couple cards I still need to pick up but I think I'm only going his true RC's and not anything else.

That's way too high, IMO! Can be picked up for $60-$80 off ebay, depending on the jersey piece. Multiple colors fetch a lot more $$$.

Don't usually bust much packs, but took a shot at a Fleer Ultra blaster box tonight. No jersey, a couple of Scoring Kings inserts(Hejduk, and Heatley:) ), and three rookies (Compoli, Roach, and Perry). Not too bad for $25CAD + tax, but I'm done with that stuff. :o

I just tell them to shove it. I won a Lombardi 3 coloured jersey card yesterday for $2.99 and the guy sent me an invoice with shipping for $8.50. I told him to keep it...............I said I would pay $3.00 shipping. Haven't heard back yet......
