It's really crazy what some people will pay... I never thought I'd pay over $30 for a card, but then I never thought I'd have a huge competition for Jeff Woywitka cards. :(

I can't afford Crosby, Ovechkin or Phaneuf in pretty much any of the sets. So I am trying to get Steen, Wolski , Olesz and possibly Vanek if he isn't to much. I'll let you have the Woywitka's :D

Flesh - definately. if you recall, i was debating between buying a set, then BIN on an Ovechkin. would've certainly been cheaper. packs are pretty fun though, and there are other cards i liked in here... anyway, at least i gave it a good go and can quit knowing i did open a lot.. no need to buy packs now.

The thing that makes Upper Deck 1 and 2 crap, besides damaged cards, is the fact you can almost tell which 6 YG's you will pull once you get the first one.

yeah, no worries, i'm pretty heavy on the economics too. which is why i only did two sets this year, given the rookie crop (which was severely lacking from my UD2 box..es..) and what not. i don't feel the need to buy a whole bunch next year. a base set will get me phaneuf/crosby/ovechkin. the party is pretty much over... (and a lesson learnt).


Gratzi - yeah, it sure kinda seemed that way...


but with all the victory rookies, and the fact that i got 5 RTs and only two normal jerseys, and only one that had a white swatch, that was pretty good.

oh, and i did get the Carter/Ovie checklist earlier...

I just wait for the 2nd one. Like brew said glines1999 bids really high on the first flames cards that appear. I just make a big bid knowing he will win so he has to pay more. I don't think he cares............

the good thing with glines, is he only goes for one of each card. I just do the same thing, bid what I want to pay and no more, if I get outbid I wait for the next one. It worked great for the 3 coloured nystrom spx that I just picked up off ebay. Bidding on a 2-coloured spectrum right now

That's where is gets grey with my guy... normally he only goes after 1 of each card unless a 1 of # shows up.

But he bought up a bunch of a patch card numbered to 35... and he bought two of the same auto/jersey of 75 in one night. I'm hoping that was just an oversight with whatever auction sniping service he uses. :(

I just hope another of the same card I lost last night shows up... it's numbered to 25 from Fleer so I'm surprised that was the first one.

In your guys opinion. What screw down is the best for protecting your cards. I bought some Ultra Pro single screw downs. But I am not impressed with them. The one corner in all of them is not straight or at a 90 degree angle and I am scared of wrecking the point of the corner of a card in them. Do any of you use the diamond ones so your corners are protected? Your expert advice would be greatly appreciated.

you talking about those Liles "game used" 05-06 skates that have been on ebay twice? I tried photomatching them but the results were negative..... the color of the skates are different.

anyway, the Roy is being sold no matter what. I'm keeping the 3rd jersey Roy. I'll sell all my Avs SP's except for Aebi as well as my Series 5 red Roy. I can sell my original xbox and the games to EB or Gamestop. Also got a few Roy cards I wouldn't mind parting with. I may be able to make out with enough to pay for the jersey and Ice!!!

You're right. I think the best card was a Phaneuf Victory. The three jersey cards were Fedor Tyutin, Viktor Kozlov, and Jeff Hoggan. Terrible box.
