i can see perfectly fine out of my right eye - normally i just have trouble at night with headlights... maybe when i get glasses i'll have like super vision or something :eek: :eek:


Headlights really bother my eyes aswell,

remind me and i'll see what i find out. you sound similar to where i'm at for night driving... i also lose some depth perception and refuse to drive on highways (not that that's a bad plan if i can't see...)

I still drive on highways, doesn't bug me to that extent, but, headlights just seem extremely bright to me, I just adjust my mirrors so I see them when they are a fair amount behind me and when they get tight I can just see the driver cab and hood.
or flip the tint tab (or whatever the hell that thing is called)

These new xenon lights really bug me, so bright, looks like they're running high beams.

I just got back from the card shop. I bought 3 packs of UD2, 2 packs of H&P2 and 1 pack of Beehive and didn't get anything worth mentioning.
I also bought a box of 9-pocket sheets, I want to make the Heroes and Prospects set and put it in a binder.

yeah but the goal was to get me into the manager position as quickly as possible. so i have a lot of stuff to bring home, and most people don't do that there.

Well, most will know me from my sportscard media spot as a broadcaster/writer for Sportsology and The Hockey News (for those who don't know, I left CSC earlier this year).

My "major" job is working with a trade publication group called Matrix, where I am an editor.

Other stuff I do on the side is with the Winnipeg Free Press, Winnipeg Sun and a few magazines here and there. I'm also heavily involved in the local JCC.

Oh, and UD announced their all time greatest set:The 2005-06 NHL regular season ended last week, with the Toronto Maple Leafs beating the Pittsburgh Penguins in the league's final game, 5-3.

The final of Upper Deck's All-Time Greatest Collection tournament, with fans voting on the League's best single-season squad ever? The same two teams, the same outcome, the same margin of victory. Just with different players from different eras.

Receiving 64 percent of the vote, the 1962-63 Leafs beat the 1991-92 Pens, completing Upper Deck's season-long, 16-team tourney pitting the NHL's all-time greatest teams against one another.

Along with the 1963 Maple Leafs, six all-time rookies and one player per team will be included in the collection, the industry's first ever fan-voted trading card set. The collection will feature 37 cards in all and hit retail stores this fall.

The rookies include Tony Esposito, Mario Lemieux, Guy Lafleur, Gilbert Perreault, Steve Yzerman and Wayne Gretzky.

Each NHL team also had one individual player representative that was voted into the set.

While only one player per team made the All-Time Greatest Collection,it was a battle all season to see who would finish with the most overall votes.

The New York Rangers' Andy Bathgate led the vote all the way up until the contest's final two weeks. Bathgate will still represent the Rangers in Upper Deck's collection, but was overtaken for all-time greatest player by both Boston's Bobby Orr (No. 1) and Montreal's Maurice Richard (No. 2).

Orr won the title by less than one-tenth of a percent of the overall all-time player vote. In total, 4.5 million votes were tallied across the contest's three categories.

Other notable results from the voting:

- Rookie Alexander Ovechkin, who became only the sixth rookie in NHL history to score at least 100 points in a season, was voted the best Washington Capital ever, besting Mike Gartner.

- Gretzky and Perreault were the only players to have two cards in the set: one rookie and one all-time greatest player for their respective team. - Fans of Hockey Hall of Famer Bobby Hull and son, Brett Hull, came in mass to vote. Brett was St. Louis' all-time player representative while finishing in the top-six all time. Brett also nearly beat Mike Modano to become Dallas' all-time greatest player. Bobby Hull, who was not listed on the ballot, got the most write-in votes of any player, with 2,225 for his tenure with Chicago.

Tim maybe you just need to scale back on what you collect of Turco and focus on just his autos or something. I don't think I could try be a 100% player collector, it's just impossible these days. Way too many 1/1's and low numbered parallels. That is probly the thing I dislike most in the hobby, paralells, but that's a different story. When a new set comes out I try get the "base" Iginla auto and then I go for the parallels only if I can get them at a good price. With Artifacts I got the /100, /75 and the /50 for pretty much all the same price. In Black Diamond it was the same thing.

I was at the a Calgary card show today and I found a couple 3 color UD Oilers cards: Laraque and Horcoff 1. I ask the dealer, how much? $75 for the Laraque and $40 for the Horcoff.

I nearly swallowed my tongue... I politely said thank you and when on my way.

I did find a couple of nice patch cards... Smyth and Hemksy, but I decided I was better off with my $90.

anyone in need of a cheap digital camera?

i have a Concord Eye 2040 2.0 Megapixels 4x Digital Zoom "Tim Hortons" Camera.

features:
1600 x 1200 resolution
1.5" LCD display
4x digital zoom
video clips
7mb internal memory

and all the software, manual, case, cables, and batteries included.


the only catch is that i dropped it at my garage sale in the spring, and i think the battery thing would need to get taped (or fixed if your that astute), but it still works fine.

anyway, anyone with a kid or looking for something basic as a point and shoot for their collection might be able to do some good with it.

it was priced to clear at $45cdn before it the battery thing was loosened, so make me an offer of whatever you think is fair (it's as good as used once with some tape on it). i'd trade for cards or paypal/cash/cheque. *AND* if for some reason you can't get it to function, i would take it back, full refund minus shipping (assuming you didn't go out and break it :D). that's how i roll.

I'm with you guys, I am slowly losing interest in SPs but my interest in cards has been higher than ever. But now I am able to focus on one thing, Oilers cards and the odd other card. With SPs I've stopped buying chases, unless they are really cool and only get a set of regs and any retros. Even then I can wait to get them, I just finished my Legends 3 set up last week.

Only 4 bucks with ship on the Bay. Prolly got such a good price since it was a 1-colour swatch.

With a pending trade, i'm now up to 7 Moose jersey cards. Only known missing are Flaherty, Fedorov, Groulx and Brathwaite. There is a Sarno photoshoot, but I'm waivering on whether to extend my pursuit to non-game jerseys. Of course, I expect there to be a couple more in the next year or so with so many Moose players being Canuck rookies this past year.

In regards to the current topic, I'm definitely on the downside with SPs. The initial rush of getting favourite players is done and until there's a retro Hawerchuk I can't see myself getting any others.

Cards has gone down a bit, only in the sense that I've narrowed my collection to Jets, Moose, all things Selanne or Thornton and PC pick-ups of rookies. I have a huge list of sets that are near completion but I just don't have the time or desire to finish them. I'll probably keep so I can pursue later on, but a lot of my stuff will probably be sold off soon.

Tim, don't give up the Turcos. Maybe sell off any dupes, but there's really not a lot to be gained by dumping all the hard-work stuff, especially, from a business standpoint, since the market is soft on his cards after his poor playoff performance. Keep a single copy of each you have because you will regret it later on. Just trim the fat.

i lost interest in SP and sold nearly all of them to buy jerseys.. I like cards cuz they're cheaper bits of hockey, but I'd probably trade anything of value to someone with a Gelinas jersey I don't have.

Same with Tie Domi! I've only seen a few of them hit ebay, and they fetch $25-$30. Rumor has it there were only 50 of each gold, and silver signed. Only ever seen one silver, and I bought it. :D

That's the 00-01 Carter, he didn't have an autograph that year. However as you mentioned his BAP SS auto is very ex*****ve (BV:80$) and is a SP in the 01-02 SS set, and is not in the Update set

Hey Prime, I was thinking the same thing. a couple quick examples....I saw Phaneuf rookie threads that ran in price from $10 to $75 for the exact thing thing. I did pick up a Nystrom SPX spectrum 25/25 with a red swatch for $30, which I thought was fair. And it was just by chance that I found it in a guys binder. Other guys were selling the Nystrom #/1499 for $40............with a red swatch which are a dime a dozen on ebay.

If nothing else the prices saved me money. Plus I didn't think it was that great a show. Lots of older crap.........and not much new......

My overpriced story... I found a 3/5 SP Game Used Jeff Woywitka autograph. Just last week I purchased 4/5 off ebay for $30 delivered. I ask the guy, "How much"... he said he couldn't take less than $125 CDN for it. LOL... good luck. 5/5 sold on ebay for about $40 so I don't see his finding a new home any day soon.

They aren't classified as rookies because they are inserts, not part of the base set.

As Gratzi mentioned, it's a surprise they are still selling well. If it's anything like previous years they will be much cheaper next season

worth a try... It might be against Ebay TOS as it wouldn't be covered, but I think from a collecting standpoint it's worth a shot.

I've asked a couple of times, just work out a deal and tell them to put a buy it now price up for you. Thats the way I got a Team Canada set for a CC i am in. It depends on the seller though.

I THOUGHT I had them too, I have 3 binders of hockey only, 90-91, 91-92, and 92-93 upper deck, and I had the Hull and Howe sets, but I can't find them! :mad:

I do it all the time, it's worked a couple times too
