Canada has every single right to be playing baseball and they will continue to have a team in Toronto.

They dont need to spend triple the salaries to compete. Players seem to love coming to Toronto and playing. They enjoy the city and community and the Jays organization.

They may not have the HUGE payroll that the Yankees and BoSox have, but they definately try to compete each and every game the last two years, and they are continually trying to improve their team.

Personally, I hope they re-organize the divisions in MLB eventually. Put Toronto in any other AL Division, and they can probably win the division. But going up against New York and Boston (and more importantly their payroll), they are VERY hard pressed to make it to the post season.

The way baseball is going with their salaries, they should just rid themselves of the 24 teams that are not going to stand a chance at doing anything and just allow 8 teams in MLB. 4 in the NL and 4 in the AL and they all make the playoffs. That way they can always have the same teams in the playoffs like MLB wants.

Personally, im all for parity in every single league. Every team deserves the change to compete on even terms.

Oh, I couldnt agree more Garth. If you impose a Max Salary Cap, you MUST impose a Min Salary Cap. No questions or arguements there. If they cant afford to put out the Min Salary Cap, then they shouldnt be in the world of sports.

As for the NHL All-star game..........its about as good as the NFL Pro-bowl game these days.

No one wants to PLAY in these things, they just want to show up, smile, nod, give a wave or three. The owners of the teams dont want the players actually PLAYING a game of hockey because they are all star players out there, and if one player goes down, its an important player from that team.

I watched the Young-stars game..............wow, what a friggin joke. Malkin was the WORST from the whole group. While the other team was deep in his teams zone, he was sitting out on the opposing blue line waiting for a pass to come his way for a break away. He did NOTHING to go back and help defensively. What an utter disgrace to the game of hockey.

None of these athletes want to COMPETE in the all-star game.

I say chop the idea of having an actual All-Star game. Name the rosters for history sake. Still host a All-Star weekend where players can go out , meet the fans, sign autographs, compete in Skill Competions. Mabye think of other skill competions you can actually implement into that lineup to make it more appealing.

All in all, I think All-Star games are a dying breed. Its not the actual game that sells, its the event.

Even the Pro-Bowl in Hawaii does horrible each and every year. None of these players want to go and PLAY.
