Looks like the refs are calling everything tonight...er at least in the 3rd.
No they missed afew ... lifting the net and afew interferences on the Stars.

Well....good night for the Canucks fan I was on the edge of my seat the whole 3rd period with my heart pounding like crazy it was a sigh of relief when Pyatt scored. But up next Anahiem on Wed. At least I can sell my Game 4 tickets and make money now.

Not here to talk garbage other than Go Ducks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Couple things, I think the refs should have let them play the game rather than call penalties that were called in the 1st 20 games of the year. Putting that aside, you guys owned Dallas in the 2nd and 3rd periods and won because of that.

Next, too bad Modano hit the crossbar... Atleast I thought it was unfortunate. :)

Finally Go Ducks!

Tj who?? I can't seem him on here now that his Stars are out specially by the Nucks and the Canucks are 2-0 in playoff series vs Dallas dating back to 1994 when they first met.

Deserteagle88
04-23-2007, 10:17 PM
I was getting a little worried when Dallas scored the first goal *gulp*

Either way, it was a great game. You got to give the Stars credit, they played their hearts out. I think missing Zubov in the final game hurt them most. Zubov is huge for the Stars.

JOGADOGGZ
04-23-2007, 10:25 PM
Zubov would of made a huge difference on their powerplay and also just having him back on D....

Sam I saw a Bieksa Game worn Playoff Jersey at Meigray, you going to go after that??

Probably not. I picked up the Bieksa 3rd jersey a couple of weeks ago and it might be the same one that the Nucks wore tonight. I'm going to contact Barry and ask them tomorrow.

Besides, I blew too much $$$ this month already. :o

Our Father, who art in GM Place

Hockey be thy name.

Thy will be done, the cup will be won

On ice, as well as in the stands and streets.

Give us this day, our hockey sticks,

And forgive us our penalties,

As we forgive those who cross-check against us,

Lead us not into elimination,

But deliver us to victory.

In the name of the fans, Lord Stanley,

And the holy Canucks, AMEN!

Not much to say about the game. I turned it off when Mcdonald made it 3-1. They need the injured players back. The Ducks outclassed the Nucks in every way tonite. The Nucks need to play physical vs the Salami/Mc**** line.

Can't say it was a huge surprise that Anaheim won, I was expecting it when both Bieksa and Salo were out. I wasn't expecting such a brutal beatdown though. Edler, Krajicek, Sopel and Fitzpatrick looked completely out of their league. Not to take away from the game Anaheim played because they played well, but so often loose pucks were sitting there to be cleared out and they missed a chance to remove the pressure. If you give a team like the Ducks 3rd and 4th chances, they're going to bury you.

I hope that Salo, Bieksa and maybe Cooker can play soon.

wow, you think? You are pretty smart! :)

And if the Canucks didnt have to dress Edler and Fitzpatrick in place of Salo and Bieksa, and have Krajicek and Sopel play more minutes, they wouldnt have hung Luongo out to dry.

Man, Anaheim fans sure are getting fatheads about torching a team with a depleated defense. I mean sure, they deserved to win last night as the Nucks didnt do much of anything, but the score wouldnt have been the same, nor would the flow of the game, if the Canucks had their proper defense playing.

I hope Salo is back by Sunday. Maybe even Bieksa too, pump that SOB full of cortisone and get him on the ice!! If our blueline isn't depleted, they might be able to make a series out of it.

Lucky win tonight though, Selanne missed about 5 open nets. They'll have to do a better job watching him.

I was pleasantly surprised by Edler, Sopel, Fitzpatrick and Krajicek tonight. In the last game, I thought all 4 looked out of their league playing the extra minutes but tonight they were pretty solid. I liked that Edler especially didn't shy away from the contact. He got rocked a couple of times, but he kept taking hits to make plays.

When they let Sopel go last year I thought it was a mistake as I thought he was turning the corner. I was hoping that when we got him back from LA that he would have improved? He scares me more now then what he use too. That passes he made in the second? right up the middle. DUMB! very lucky there was no goal. I think if he just slows down and doesn't rush the play he'll improve. Was wondering where Linden was all game, glad to see him show up in OT. Ohlund had a good solid game took a couple of penalty's but only when there was no other choice to stop the player.Kesler has to be back in two weeks? Salo will be a big boost and should play on Sunday.

Have fun at the game! I had a blast at Games 1 & 2. Any of you Canucks fans coming down here for Game 5? There were a number of Nucks fans here in SoCal...

Should be a good game this afternoon. I just hope that Luongo doesn't dive and flop around like he was shot as much this game. I still think he deserved at least one diving penalty on Friday. Who does he think he is... Hasek?! Even a Vancouver fan sitting near me thought "Lu" was embellishing a little bit! That being said, he played great in Game 2... at least 2 or 3 great glove saves. Still think the Ducks will win the series though! Go Ducks! :)

Yeah, the next game will be huge in determining the Canucks' chances this series, but regardless of what happens they are showing that they can play with one of the teams predicted by many to win the Cup.

You're bang on about their lack of finish. They completely dominated the first period but weren't able to make the Ducks pay. On the other hand, the Ducks had half the powerplays but scored twice. That was game right there, the Ducks completely won the special teams battles.

If I was Alain Vigneault, I'd be working on nothing but power plays during practice. They must've forgotten they're playing one of the most penalized teams during the regular season. This series could be handed to them on a silver platter if they could get the PP going.

Are you watching the same series, 'Vern? The Ducks dominated Game 1, and were clearly the better team in Game 2 (save for the first period). Luongo stole that game for the 'Nucks, and both goals were cause of Ducks turnovers. Vancouver played really well in Game 3 and might've been the better team 5-on-5, but their lack of finish (especially on all those power plays, including two 5-on-3s) hurt them. Fact is the Ducks capitalized on their chances, and Vancouver didn't.

Though I agree that a finisher, not to mention a proven playoff performer, like Drury, and this is a different series. Still say Ducks in 5, maybe 6 in Luongo steals another game tonight.

Canucks completely collapsed. Tried to protect the lead & it caught up to them. I don't think it's possible to beat Anaheim 3 times in 4 games. It's pretty much over, but you guys don't have much tweaking to do with the lineup (and goalie) you have to be serious contenders for a few years to come.

That was craptastic!!! For a defensive minded team, the Canucks defenders sure spin on the spot a lot. Even though Salo had no stick on the tying goal, he was spinning around like a figure skater. Why was he staring at the goalie when his man was right beside him?

My thoughts exactly, it's been like that for 35 years, how many times have we heard it, the elite teams know how to put teams away, and sure maybe it's a different game if Smolinski makes it 3-0 or Bieksa makes it 3-1. In truth, I think the injuries have caught up with them, they just don't have enough healthy bodies to play with the Ducks. That being said, this team has a ton of heart and I say they win game 5 but go out in 6.i'm sick of this 3rd period sit back strategy, god knows how many games/points it's cost us all season, go for the freaking jugular, this team has absolutely no killer instinct (apart from luongo)

I don't think any of us are gloating - this has been a really tough series so far and it's not over yet. I was ready to concede victory to you guys last night because we couldn't seem to score no matter what we did against your defense. You know what the funny part is? Luongo has been outstanding in these playoffs while the team in front of him has been absolutely pathetic. Luongo has faced the most shots against in these playoffs. In comparison, Giguere is down near the bottom in shots against. I've got a hunch -- just a little tiny hunch -- that if the team in front of the goalie is adamant that their goalie lead the playoffs in shots against, that goalie won't be able to do enough for his team.

Maybe gloating is the wrong word, I dunno. Some of the posts I have seen by Duck fans are ridiculous though, like I said....its as if they are the greatest thing since the coming of christ, seriously. I will be the first one to admit the Canucks havent played good hockey at all, they fold as soon as the pressure is turned on, and the Sedins have been non-existant this series. If the Ducks were so good, they should be destroying Vancouver. Basically put, the Ducks, who are damn good, and were favored to win the cup way back in October, are ahead 3 games to 1 on a team that wasnt even supposed to make the playoffs, and are riding one of the top 3 goalies in the league. Shouldnt be any reason for some Ducks fans to be boasting and thinking the Ducks are this and that, they should have beaten the Canucks easily.

I think the "change the thread title" post was in response to the one done on the Ducks thread after they lost game two.

I agree about the Ducks not playing to the level expected of them or in comparison to how they played earlier in the year. My brother has been watching them all year and told me they are not playing like a team on a mission right now. Seems after the really strong start their play slumped midway through the season, then they picked it up again for a while only to start playing flat again at the end of the regular season.

Funny thing is Ed and I both root for the Ducks, but we are enemies when it comes to MLB teams. :D

Sucks, Vancouver has been the better of the two teams for about 75% of the last two games and they have nothing to show for it. They're lacking that killer instinct around the net, Smolinski and Hansen each had a great chance to make it 3-0 and pretty much ice the game, but they just couldn't put it in. A couple of free agent changes next season and this team will be looking pretty damn good.

As a Ducks fan, I have to say that the Ducks were lucky to win Game 4. Vancouver was clearly the better team in the first period, and had the edge in the 2nd period as well. Vancouver's defensive shell in the third cost them. Anaheim basically won one period, plus the brief OT. But that was enough last game... we'll see about tonight! :)

To be perfectly honest right now, I'm really enjoying this. Just as much as you guys did when we were eliminated.

I will say though you have one hell of a goalie and the scary thing is you have him locked up for a long time!!! Not good for the NW division.

As mentioned above, Luongo should get some hardware. I would expect him to win the hart trophy. No one was more valuable to their team than Roberto. As far as the Vezina goes, I'm thinking a very close second to Brodeur as he had slightly better numbers.

Even though the loss was disappointing, i'm happy with the way the season went. everybody counted this team out even before they started playing. They won another Division Title, Broke all kinds of club and personal records and won a round. With Luongo in goal we just have to build around him, which is a great foundation.

It'd be nice if they could dip into the free agent market next season to increase scoring (obviously their biggest problem). Briere would be a nice addition, or maybe a run at one of the Tampa Bay scorers. Unfortunately I think they're up against --or pretty close to--the cap.

It would also be nice to see if Luc Bourdon has developed into an NHL calibre Dman.

I know I'm gonna get flamed for this, but I'm still unimpressed with the Sedins. I know they're still relatively young, but they were drafted 10 years ago and they should be blossoming into complete players by now. Anyone else find them slow and soft?

Agreed, and the Sedins FOLDED in the playoffs. Their game DISAPPEARED. that worries me a bit.

As rediculas as this sounds, if I were the Canucks, I would sign Anson Carter in the offseason. They need offense, and he proved he could bring it with the Sedins. I don't think the Canucks will be a major FA player, but adding Carter and another 20-30 goal scorer may be all that they need. While they are at it, trade Morrison.

Yep, as the first line they were nearly invisible. I think it would be excusable if it were their first time in the playoffs (like Luongo) but it's their 3rd or fourth playoff season, isn't it? Even Naslund was able to turn it up (albeit morderately) for the playoffs this year.

I think they're great at cycling the puck and have a keen awareness for each other and their winger in the regular season. But I also think they're slow on the breakout, VERY easily stripped of the puck, and seem to be easily tripped up both when they forecheck and when they're forchecked. The fact that they were -13 (or something like that) in these playoffs tells me they're timid when the puck's in their own end.

I think it's high time for them to be called out by the media and coaching staff for their play in this post-season.

You might be right with Carter. Maybe after his disappointing year in Columbus and Carolina he'll realize that he isn't worth 2.5 million without the Sedins.

That is just it. Maybe the Canucks can get him on the cheap. He has zero leverage to ask for that money now. Hell, nobody really wanted him at that money last year coming off a great season.

The Province is reporting that the Sedins had a nasty stomach virus that they got sometime in the middle of the Dallas series and wereon IV's for the rest of the playoffs, not an excuse but could explain their apparent fatigue

No one'll disagree with you about their play in the regular season. But I think these stats say a lot:

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/statistics/?season=playoff&players=skaters

Linden, Ohlund & Pyatt got more points than they did.

And if people figured them out in the playoffs, they should've adjusted their game. The Sens tried to hold Crosby off the scoresheet but he found a way to get five points out of five games. The Sedins had less points than Crosby, and they played 12 games. I guess that's what separates good skilled players from great skilled players - great skilled players will find a way.

The Sedins are my whipping boys today.

so if the Sedins were sick and performing like crap, does that mean that Naslund and Morrison had a stomach virus all season? I dont buy it, I think that Anaheim, and more specifically the Pahlsson line, figured them out and made them look less than stellar. They didnt play that good against Dallas either.

Anyone see the interviews last night, Naslund blames Bertuzzi for not being there, he's up for a contract after next season I wonder if he'll try and put up the numbers again. Hopefully the Canucks get him some help in terms of a Briere,Kariya or Gomez.

Naslund should blame no one but himself! Star players can produce with people around them, SUPERSTAR, 6 MILLION DOLLAR PLAYERS just produce.

That is the reason Naslund shouldnt be our captain and should just go away. I am so sick of all his stale, monotone answers to questions.

Before we write Naslund off as being done, lets take a look at Teemu Selanne's last few seasons. People wrote him off as dead and done a few years back, but he's bounced back in a big way.

It's also hard to put up big numbers playing with scrubs. When you look at the big scoring leaders, virtually all of them play with another top player. While Naslund didn't have his most productive year, some nights he'd line up with players like Kesler and Josh Green and get 3rd line minutes. At the start of the season, he was doing fairly well with the Sedins before they split them up.

I haven't had a chance to post here since the end of the series... Your team exceeded expectations and beat a tough Dallas team. Ohlund got me 7 points in my pool too! ;)

Like I said in a previous post... you guys have a good nucleus. A finisher like Drury, Briere or Ryan Smyth would be huge for your team next year. And word is that Smyth would love to come back to Western Canada -- Calgary or Vancouver!

Your goalie played great and should win at least one major trophy after the playoffs are over. Tough break on that last goal, but he should've been keeping his eyes on the puck not a perceived elbowing penalty... I'm sure Luongo will be thinking about that play long and hard during the summer.

Congrats on a great season! :)
