What did people get with the HD DVD bogo on amazon?
I just grabbed the 4 Harry Potters for $39.90 Dlvd. To good to pass up.
Blu Ray's 50% off sale sucks. LOL we are so use to Bogo's anymore we want everything for free :)
I picked up Children of Men/Hot Fuzz and Serenity/Dead Silence.
I'll also back up Serenity as a very good movie. Very different than what we're used to when it comes to sci-fi movies since it's a sci-fi/western with a lot of asian influences.
By the way, any definite news on the 3/2 deal at Best Buy this weekend?

Personally, the only one that really pisses me off is that Queen concert won best music title. What a bunch of garbage. That Dave and Time show -- as far as a high-definition experience is concerned -- is not only flawless for a music title, it's probably the best audio quality and arguable video quality of any disc on either format.
The Queen Concert's PQ and AQ imo are a 2/5 and 3/5, respectively.

I knew I should have waited till this weekend to by my PS3. I picked it up yesterday and now the are bringing back the 5 free by mail and 5 free instantly when you buy any blue ray player. Just this site out and their unreal low prices on some of the new release's

click on Blu ray movies on the right.
Checkout is through amazon.com so I am not 100% about it. Kinda iffy..
But they have new BR movies like:

Hairspray - $8.50
Oceans 13 - $11.50
Just to name a few.

I have a Magellan and I love it. I have used my bosses before and his was a Garmin. They are pretty much the same I would say. Some tips you might want to consider is that sometimes the GPS is WRONG! But 95% of the time it will get you where you need to be. It just make take you a weird route. Tip number 2 would be that sometimes you are NOT SMARTER than the GPS. So don't just go off the route because you think you know where you should be turning. Also pay attention to the road still because I was coming home one night from installing PCs at a bunch of stores down in Wise county. I got lost coming back and was using the GPS. Needless to say I was looking at the GPS too much and made a couple dumb driving mistakes. I probably didn't care because I was out in the country with no people at all lol. I ended up getting pulled by the cops and they thought I was drunk! So I had to explain to the officer that I was lost, from another city and the only thing I was drinking was red bull.

i agree.
As a format-neutral person, I really hope Warner doesn't decide to go blu-ray exclusive in 2008. I know they've denied it up and down, but if they did it would be trouble for HD DVD, and I really enjoy the competing formats right now. I know I'm probably in the minority there.

You are for sure right on that one. Once one takes over for good there wont be deals like that. Although it could go either way as prices. Since they are the new format they could go up, or since they dont have to spend money competing anymore they might go down. Only time will tell.

If one wins out, I don't see the retail prices increasing....they're still going to be heavily competing against DVD and raising already expensive prices won't draw in anyone else as quickly as they'd like.

Lol, maybe i should rethink wanting there to be competition so we keep getting these sales. I can't resist them.

LOL I was over 70 at one point but we watch probably 5 - 7 movies during the week and a few on the weekends. So I slowly catching up.
30 is only on HD DVD/BR I have about another 50 - 60 on SD DVD yet to watch. But to be honest I could care less watching SD DVD's

Yeah that sucks.
I grabbed another PS3 Black Friday weekend and received 10 free BR right at walmart plus you get 5 free mail
I sold the PS3 on the bay for the amount I bought it for at Walmart but gave them the receipt to get the 5 free BR movies via mail
So after paypal fee's and ebay fee's I got 10 BR movies for around $50 - $60 :D
To good to pass up.

Just watched Eastern Promises with my wife. Hell of a flick. Not as much action as I thought but the acting, story and atmosphere are so strong it doesn't need it.
Picture looks very good, touches of grain here and there, but the blues and yellows pop like crazy.

Harmony's are compatible with everything... and if it isn't, it learns from the remote you have (I have to do it with my satellite receiver).
When you first get it you install the software on your computer. Then you input all your devices into the software and it pretty much programs all the remote for you. It takes a little tinkering sometimes (you might have to delay the signal for some devices), but it's a great way to get rid of a pile of remotes. :)
The 880 also comes with a charging stand so you don't have to keep buying batteries for the damn thing (my 628 eats batteries especialy wth the backlight).
I believe the 880 retails for about $300, but you should be able to find it for around $150 or less if you're lucky. :)

Garth also check the Firmware on your new BR player. I beleive the newest FW should be 1.3
Follow the steps below to check the firmware version currently installed in your Panasonic BD player.
1. Turn on the main unit.
2. Press the [SETUP] button on the remote control to open the display menu screen.
3. Using the Up and Down cursor buttons on the remote control, select the "DISPLAY" tab - "DISPLAY" items will appear.
4. Press and hold the "STATUS" button on the remote control. While doing so, the current firmware version for your player will be displayed in the lower right hand corner of the screen (e.g. "1.1").
Also if you need help with the Harmony 880 dont be afraid to call.
Heck I might even have to take a trip up soon

Finally starting to crack through some of these movies.
Watched Clerks 2 HD DVD tonight. Damn this movie was funnier the second time.
PQ is pretty good but not great. Color are the standout, vibrant and full, and it helps that the movie is basically all bright scenes.
There's grain, and the facial details are some of the softest I've seen in HD. But I'd still give this a 7.5/10 for PQ.

getting ready to get a TV. Not sure wht to do, buy a replacement bulb for the projector and get a 32 inch for the bedrom, or just get a nice 50+ inch to replace the projector.
My question is........ on a 32 inch is there a noticable difference between 1080p/1080i/780p?
Why in the world would you replace a projector with a TV? If your projector is old, replace with a newer model, or replace the bulb and use the money you save to buy a 32" TV as well.
Picked up Anchorman and The Shining at Future Shop. I sold my DVD copy of The Shining a while ago and have been itching to see it again, can't wait to watch this one.
Now at 87 HD DVD's. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v392/freezerfuel/Smilies/rockon.gif

Whats the deal with the buy 3 HD DVD's get 2 free deal at Best Buy? I went there today and tried to purchase 2001, A Clockwork Orange, The Kingdom, The Bourne Ultimatum and Elizabeth. When I went to get rung up I was told I was not able to buy these movies as part of the deal. Only what was advertised in the flyer which had pictures of The Kingdom, Happy Feet, Van Helsing, Shooter, V for Vendetta and some others I can't recall. BUT I do recall the ad stating any HD-DVD was part of the deal of equal or lesser value. Anyone else have this problem. let me know.. Thanks again and Happy New Year.

when talking about catalog titles that i may or may not already own on DVD, it's definitely not a good deal. For the new releases if they start coming out at $15 each, then it's a good deal.
I have a nice collection and many to watch now, unless it's a BLOCKBUSTER that I have to pick up on day 1, it's waiting for a BOGO or (wishful thinking) a price drop.
I mean, I own The Rock and Con Air on DVD and just canceled my pre-order for them at Amazon on blu-ray because I really don't need to spend $45 more for these in high-def. For $20 and whatever I get in trade-in at FYE for the DVD versions, sure it's worth it.

Why the PS3 isn't the best Blu-ray player
Posted Jan 2nd 2008 10:47AM by Ben Drawbaugh
Not too long ago we asked you what the best Blu-ray player was and as many would expect one of the hottest answers was the PS3. At $400, with the PS3's ability to be updated to support just about any new Blu-ray feature, it seems like the best value; but there's one thing about the PS3 that is often overlooked. No, we're not talking about the lack of IR remote (easily solved with a $15 adapter) we're talking about the limited audio codec support. Sure, the PS3 supports Doby TrueHD decoding internally, but it lacks a big one, DTS HD. For whatever reason, the PS3 does not support bitstream output -- no, not even TrueHD -- only PCM, and since there's no DTS HD decoder built in, that leaves out one of the hottest new codecs. Sure, only ~15% of Blu-ray titles even include a DTS HD sound track, but judging by the upcoming releases from Sony, Disney, Fox, New Line and Lionsgate, we'd say this number is going to get a lot bigger. At this point, the best option is the Panasonic DMP-BD30 and a newer HDMI 1.3a A/V receiver with all the decoders built in, but who knows, maybe Sony will figure out a way to upgrade the PS3.

Carlito's Way
Training Day
Also picked up Lego Star Wars Complete Saga and Screen Cleaner for the LCD.
Quick question about the Screen Cleaner though. I paid $20 for it at BB. I dont wanna pay that much if I dont have to ever again. Is there something cheaper? I bought Monster brand.

Anyone know how long usps will forward mail to your new address?
I had my bb b3g2 deal shipped to my old address by mistake when I ordered online - I called bb and they said they can't do anything at this point and to contact ups. It's ups mi - which means they drop it off with usps I guess - so when I called them they said they can't do anything.
I think it's 6 months, but don't quote me.

I have an LCD and Plasma and all I have ever used is just a plain old Cotton t-shirt and it works like a charm..

I just use a microfiber cloth which costs about 8 bucks for 3 huge reusable sheets

Is this specifically for LCD? Are there DLP screen cleaners, as well? I've had a damn fingerprint smudge on my screen for a while but I've been afraid to rub the screen with anything wet.
Says Plasma and LCD cleaner. Doesnt say anything about DLP.

Ok guys I have been lazy on sending in for my five free hd when i bought my a3 and now I have to send in for my 5 free blue rays from my ps3. Question is what do I need to send in for the proof of purchase?? There is no upc code printed on either box that says upc. Do I just cut the sticker off the box??
