Just finished watching Hitman....what a fantastic movie. I enjoyed every minute of it. I guess action flicks with lots of killing is my thing :)
On another note...Timothy Olyphant was great in this as Agent 47. He was also great in Live Free or Die Hard. I must say he is a talented actor and quickly becoming one of my favorites. Hope to see him do more action movies and hopefully there will be a Hitman 2!
I just got done watching Catch and Release, and he was awesome in it. I love all his movies.
Watching I am Legend now :)
Long movie day in this house :)

No I havent seen either of those.
You should watch them if you want some more great Tim Olyphant. Deadwood was only 3 seasons long but kicked all kinds of major ass. Especially if you're a fan of HBO's series. Girl Next Door was just all kinds of fun.

Sunshine - Netflix - Liked the movie overall. Picture was great. I didn't like what they did with the dude from Icarus 1. Camera out of focus isn't a cool effect.
That was all part of the mystery of the character... and IMO, it was up to the observant viewing to draw one of two conslusions:
1. He really had been touched by God.
2. The extreme gravity of being that close to the sun for so long had some sort of effect on the poor bugger...

It just seemed to me like after they filmed they didn't like the makeup so they screwed with it.
I dunno. I'm sure he just lost his mind being alone for 7 years :)
Just got done with The Rock. Can't remember who said it, but I saw the booger in Sean Connery's nose. I wasn't looking for it either.

save $10 on select blu movies at Best Buy
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=pcmcat147100050001&type=category
There are a bunch of movies I have yet to get on this list.
Now my question is; If I go and pick up five movies, can I use five of those -$5 blu ray in-store coupons at one time? Or can I only use one coupon per store visit?

I seriously doubt you will be able to use 5 of those on the same receipt. I would buy one, use the $5 coupon, leave and then come back. Go to a different register or maybe even the same one. They may not care. If you came to my Best Buy I'd let ya. ;)

I looked at getting Almost Famous, The Island, and Starship Troopers on that. But it would have cost me over $70! I'm getting Almost Famous on Highdefdigest forums for $28. I dunno if that's a good deal for imports, but I love the movie, and can pass on the rest.

Finally watched Hot Fuzz. Was free HBO weekend so I DVR'd it in HD. Was a decent movie. Not drop dead funny like some make it out to be. For the most of it the movie didnt seem like a Comedy. Really until the very end it was that funny at all. End saved the movie though. Nothing I would want to rewatch though.
We Own The Night is the next movie to watch. May have to wait though cause I told my dad he has to watch Hitman so my PS3 is going to him for that. :( lol

I f i have to manually set it i use Direct.
I didnt care for Direct. I find using Cin THX sounds the best.
Pure Mode means the video circuitry and receiver display is switched off (except the HDMI OSD display and no digital processing is done on the signal apart from digital to analogue. Direct Mode is same as Pure Direct but video and display left on.

Just finished watching We Own The Night. Pretty good movie. Joquin Pheonix was very good in it. Marky Mark though just didnt do it for me in this movie. Guess its because he didnt do any ass kicking in this movie. He was amazing in the departed as a cop. Was hoping there would be a little of that in this one. But unfortunetly it wasnt.
I liked the movie just wish every movie Marky Mark is in has him slapping people around lol.

I really dont think anyone could play Bourne better then Damon after seeing him do all 3. He nailed each one perfectly. He is convincing as an agent type.
Marky Mark is more of a shoot them up type action movie star.

Couldnt agree with you more.Damon adds the intellect a character like Boune needs.Ive read all the Bourne books and his characters greatest strength is his mind and i dont think Walberg could carry that the way Damon does.

I'm moving to 5.1 sound after happily spending the last 7 years with 2 channel sound from my Boston Acoustic speakers. It's time. :)
PrimeBane had suggested the Energy Take Classic series, and I found them on Amazon for $599. I'm going to be putting them all on stands, so that'll require me to spend more on stands.
I did some shopping around Amazon, and I found what looks to be a really good deal that combines the Polk RM6800s with a 10-inch sub along with 5 speaker stands for $425. The link to the speakers/sub is here:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0002YK9TG/ref=ord_cart_shr?%5Fencoding=UTF8&m=ASH1H6YCFH4EF&v=glance
They got solid reviews on Amazon...what does everyone think? That's a good price considering the speaker stands come with it. They're not black which would have been ideal, but since I have a black/cherry/silver thing going on in the living room anyways, they'll look fine with everything.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0002YK9TG/ref=ord_cart_shr?%5Fencoding=UTF8&m=ASH1H6YCFH4EF&v=glance
They got solid reviews on Amazon...what does everyone think? That's a good price considering the speaker stands come with it. They're not black which would have been ideal, but since I have a black/cherry/silver thing going on in the living room anyways, they'll look fine with everything.
What receiver do you have driving them?
Also Polk makes great speakers but there subs are terrible IMHO..
Its a great start for the price. Honestly I would save a little more and piece a nice system together and get a nice sub.
I just dont think you will be happy with that sub.. And a sub makes a huge difference..
I am having problems trying to find stands for my rears. I found a set but not in stock until april.

OK, given a max of $500, what would you suggest in terms of piecing a 5.1 system together? The front speakers can be floor standing, but the rear ones need to be elevated since I'll be putting them right behind a couch.

save $10 on select blu movies at Best Buy
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=pcmcat147100050001&type=category
There are a bunch of movies I have yet to get on this list.
Now my question is; If I go and pick up five movies, can I use five of those -$5 blu ray in-store coupons at one time? Or can I only use one coupon per store visit?
I seriously doubt you will be able to use 5 of those on the same receipt. I would buy one, use the $5 coupon, leave and then come back. Go to a different register or maybe even the same one. They may not care. If you came to my Best Buy I'd let ya. ;)
So I send my wife to BB with a print-out of the -$5 coupon to see if she can find them at the store and pick me up a handful and buy a movie or two while she's at it. They tell her they don't have any coupons and they will just take the print-out she has since it scans. They would have let her buy more movies if she had more coupons.
So.......................I then go to BB later with a handful of coupons ;):D. I pick out the other 4 blu movies I want that were on the $19.99 sale and get -$5 off on all of them. A few they had to do on separate receipts. :D
I then go to customer service so they can price match the print-out I had of the WalMart "I Am Legend" price of $18.87. I get them to price match "I Am Legend" but they wont give me the extra -$5 off with the coupon. :(
Oh well still got a nice haul today. :D:cool:
$18.87
I Am Legend
$14.99
TMNT
Justice League New Frontier

Well you have one hell of a nice Receiver give it some speakers it deserves. Same one I have and it really drives my Polks.
Honestly I would save up another $300 so you had around $800 to spend and do it right.
I bought a Onkyo HTIB for around $400.00 it was nice and sounded great but then I upgraded my system to the Onkyo 705 and polks all around with a decent sub and 1000% better. Its really night and day.
I wish I saved the $400.00 and did it right the first time.
You can check out on amazon the following.
Polk M50's for the front
Polk CS1 for the Center
Polk M30's for the Rears
Would be a decent place to start.
Then save and grab a decent sub. Make sure you Timbre match all speakers to get the best sound.

Thanks for all the information, but I'm worried about overkill. I have a 17x16 living room, and my couch is against one wall with the TV across the room on the other side. I'll have to put the rear speakers on stands on either side of the couch, somewhat pointed inwards. My front speakers are on the outside of the entertainment center, one next to the wall, the other at the edge of the wall next to the small walkway into the bedroom.
I picked up that receiver because my Yamaha was 7 years old, couldn't do HighDef A/V routing, and I got a great price on Amazon for it with free shipping. I wanted one with 3+ HDMI inputs (DirecTV receiver, Xbox 360, Oppo 980). I'd really like to maximize it's abilities, but I don't want to get something that is "too big" for the room I'm using it in, if that makes sense.
What do you think? Does anyone else have input?

One article I read said they could look it up based on your Reward Zone card activity. If that's the case, I'll have to call and confirm, but I bought 2 back when they had the glitch during the Heroes Series 1 deal (they included 2 Free movies and EVERYTHING was included, I ended up getting 3 sets of Sopranos and a Planet Earth), then I should have $100 coming to me.

Actually, in a true 5.1 setup the rear-speakers are suppose to be directly to the right and left of the listener. I know alot of people don't like Definitive Technology but, pound for pound they are tough to beat. If you can A-B compare them with other speakers, I will guarantee you buy the Def Tech's.

Kill......Bill........Blu.....ray!!
Last week we updated you on some of Fox and MGM's upcoming Blu-ray release plans for later in 2008. Now, Buena Vista Home Entertainment has just sent over its updated Blu-ray Disc release schedule for the next few months. As you know, Hidalgo, M. Night Shyamalan's Unbreakable and the Coyote Ugly: Double Shot Edition street on 4/1. The theatrical version of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is tentatively due on 5/13 (the street date may change slightly). The National Treasure: Collector's Edition and National Treasure: Book of Secrets both follow on 5/20. June will see the Blu-ray release of The Recruit and M. Night Shyamalan's Signs, both on 6/3. Martin Scorsese's Gangs of New York is now confirmed for Blu-ray release on 7/1. And Sleeping Beauty is currently set for 10/7. Additionally, the straight-to-video sequel Tinkerbell is due in October as well. Obviously, a number of new theatrical films will also be released on Blu-ray Disc in 2008.
But here's a few new titles for you: Studio sources have confirmed that a Nixon: Election Year Edition and Good Will Hunting are both on the way for later in 2008. We've also learned that Kill Bill 1 & 2 and Finding Nemo are now being planned for release in 2009 on the format. You probably have questions about these titles, particularly Kill Bill, but no more information is available at this time. Obviously, it's way too early to talk about specific street dates, version and special features. Just know that they ARE on the way. And again, even though this information comes directly from studio sources, you should still consider it Rumor Mill-worthy until the titles are officially announced.

Samsung makes great TV's. I'm sure someone else will go more in depth with the tech specs, but does it have a QAM tuner? It probably does, but I didn't see a spec on there for it, and it would be nice to have if you don't have digital cable. You'll have people saying 1080p is a waste at 40" but I can't confirm or deny that, all I have is 1080i 32" :o Other than that I'm sure you'll love it.

Gonna have to get to BB tonight. Looks like all HD-DVD's will be gone tomorrow...this is copied and pasted from a thread at avsforum:
Got this today while at work:
Mosaic will be in all stores before open on March 26 to pull and send back all HD-DVD titles. The representative will fill out the sendback paperwork and create a manifest for each individual tote. They'll also flex all Blu-ray inventory across the space where HD-DVD was featured. It's possible that stores may not have enough product to flex over all the old HD-DVD sections. In these cases, stores should put recent releases or titles that appeal to their customers in these areas. The Movies Team is working to increase the Blu-ray assortment to resolve this problem.
Stores with upcoming PI
If you have a PI close to the sendback timeframe, let Mosaic box up the HD-DVD product and remerchandise the area. They should stage the full sendback totes in the warehouse. Stores may want to verify the contents of each tote with the tote manifest that will be created and either create prescan sheets or count each tote on the night of inventory. A special sendback will post on the April 16 for these stores to ship their product back to the warehouse.
Signage
Mosaic will remove any header signs that list both Blu-ray and HD-DVD, as they are no longer valid signs in the store. Stores will be responsible to order additional Blu-ray sign rails to fill in the space left by the removed HD-DVD signs. Here are the signs that can be ordered:
811-0140636 - High Definition Movies for the ultimate...
811-0140829 - Play exclusively on Blu-ray Disc Players...
811-0140832 - High Definition Resolution...
811-0140833 - More titles available online...
Click below for a copy of Mosaic's instructions. Contact Ask the Bus with any questions.

OK, maybe I'll just splurge and get the whole deal. I looked on Amazon, and I put together 2 M50s, 1 CS1, 2 M30s, and a KSW-10 subwoofer in my shopping cart for $711. I'd just need speaker stands for the M30s.
The problem is that the M30s don't ship for 1-2 months. Is there a different place I could get those from, or perhaps get the whole thing from?

I compromised and will probably get the VX-10. I read an avsforum thread and most people thought it was the best sub in the $200 range. It's only $130 on Amazon, and I'm in the middle of my Amazon Prime trial, so it's free shipping. Thanks to you, however, I was pointed in the right direction. :)

I've been reading that too. I'm going to stop on the way home and check out another store tonight after that. Also, Garth, yes they say 30% off but there's lot of stories about how folks are haggling, talking to managers, etc. and getting some damn good deals out the door - 40% off, matching CC's 50% off ad next week, stuff like that. It's worth a shot, all I want is BBC Planet Earth for around $30. Someone also got the Ultimate Matrix set for $21 which I would also jump on.

Quick PS3 question for you guys:
Besides the Dualshock 3 Rumble controller, is there any difference between the 80GB system that is out right now and the one that will come in the MGS4 bundle? I really don't care about MGS4 or the controller for that matter, so should I just try to find a deal online for the 80GB PS3 now, or wait until June? Are the inside components any different, processor, etc?

Strangely enough it wasn't the HD DVD "section" that was gone in my Best Buy. They completely tore down the entire Blu-ray section (which was awesome and right as you walked in) and they moved them to some random aisle in the dvd section which sucks. HD DVD was completely gone, but it was already occupying a random DVD aisle that no one cared about so it's not missed.
On an unrelated note has anyone found a regular version of Bonnie & Clyde? All I found was the book version and if it hasn't already been stated in this thread let me be the first to say the friggin books are absolutely awful. In a way they are awesome, they have a really cool original look to them and would likely look great on a shelf. Unfortunately when you put it next to the other 500+ blu-ray movies it looks foolish and doesn't even look like a high def movie.

Details on that haven't really been released yet. I beleive they are going to be the same, but I don't think you can say that with certainty yet.
Regardless, you should wait. Unless you are buying used, you aren't going to find a deal for a 80GB online anywhere. They are all going to be $499. If you wait, you get the better controller and a great game for the same price. If nothing else, you could sell the game off for $45 and have gotten the PS3 for a bit of a discount.
Also, I'm sure the specs for the bundle will be announced or leaked at least a month ahead of time. Seeing that it comes out in June and it is almost April now, that really isn't that long to wait. If they aren't different, you can pick one up early still.

Mine too (the one that actually had any left). Even after mentioning that they'll be 50% off at CC. For some reason they just weren't budging. Whatever, I'm patient, I'll wait for all of these same discs to hit Amazon, Buy.com, wherever they end up and I really believe we're just seeing the beginning of the great "HD-DVD Firesale", certainly took long enough.
I agree with you too YankeeTim - if they'd gone down just to 50% off I would have spent $110 right then and there. As it is, I spent $0 and left pissed off.
As far as the 5 free HD-DVD's - yes, you'll still get them. I got mine a couple weeks ago after sending the form in the day after the $98 A2 at WM (that was mid November I think). Funny thing is I got my 5 free Blu-Rays yesterday after buying my PS3 not too long ago, back in January so that was much quicker.

I can send you one via Prioirty mail for $327. It would get to you in two days. I can send it parcel post (5 days) for $325. Brand new and includes a receipt from Sears, so you could return it if you needed to.
A little bit better price than Ebay and while you may not know me personally, you do see me on the boards all the time. Better than a blind buy off Ebay. I have no desire to screw over someone on here, as I really like posting here and reading all the info.

BCI Moves to Blu, Cancels Upcoming HD DVD Slate
Wed Mar 26, 2008 at 11:00 AM ET
BCI/Eclipse has announced it has become the latest indie to go Blu, and has cancelled all previously-scheduled HD DVD titles.
The indie distributor was the first major indie to announce HD DVD support in late 2006, with a line-up of diverse cult gems that included 'Galaxina,' 'Golgo 13' and 'The Way of the World.' After a delay of over a year, however, only 'Galaxina' finally showed up in stores earlier this year, joining such recent BCI HD DVD releases as 'Ultimate Force' and the Bob Hope-Bing Crosby double-feature 'Road to Rio/Road to Bali.'
BCI had originally announced its latest HD DVD title (another Bob Hope double-header, 'My Favorite Brunette'/'Son of Paleface') was due to hit stores this week, but it failed to materialize on retail shelves. When asked for comment, a BCI rep confirmed to us that the company has nixed the release, as well any future support for the format.
Fans can still look forward to future next-gen BCI titles, however, as they will continue to throw their weight behind Blu-ray (the company has so far released 'Ultimate Force' on the format, as well as the "double feature" titles, 'Night of the Werewolf/Vengeance of the Zombies' and 'Sister Street Fighter/Sister Street Fighter 2'). According to the rep, it is planning a more aggressive Blu-ray line-up for later this year, although exact titles and street dates have yet to be determined.
As always, we'll keep you posted of all of BCI's future announcements as soon as they are officially confirmed.

We're still waiting for Warner to release its IME-enhanced Batman Begins on Blu-ray, but it will apparently be beaten to the punch by the 1966 flick Batman: The Movie starring Adam West and Burt Ward. Fox Home Entertainment is going all out, including a 360-degree tour of the Batmobile, HD featurettes, pop-up trivia game and, in a first for Blu-ray, an isolated 5.1 DTS HD Master Audio track for those who want to hear only the score in the highest quality possible. Available July 1 with a $39.98 MSRP, Batman fans can also grab one of a limited edition 5,000 unit run with a 1/18th scale Batmobile for $59.98. The only thing more we could ask for is BD-Live enhanced chat allowing viewers to tune in at the same Bat-time, same Bat-channel.

This disc has already paid for itself in my opinion. After going through the test
patterns several times, I have gotten a picture that looks natural and detailed.
It looked decent before, but comparing it to what I have it at now, the colors
were slightly oversaturated and the picture was slightly soft before.
The thing that surprised me most? My sharpness was too low. Normally people
have theirs set too high, and on most HDTVs, the lowest possible setting is the
best one. I had mine set to 0/100, but as JK narrated through the part about
sharpness, he acknowledged that some HDTVs are an exception to that rule. It
turns out that mine looks perfect at 20/100, going by the 1080p overscan
pattern.
Good stuff, well worth $18.95 to get a better picture out of a $1500 HDTV.
Thanks Joe.

Here is a nice little letter I wrote to BB dealing with a POS manager.
I just want to start off and say I used to like shopping at Best Buy but lately I feel that being a customer is becoming a burden for your employees. I get rude employee's who are unwilling to help me out.
Yesterday 3/26/08 I was at the Best Buy store in Mesa AZ (Store 254). I wanted to do a price match on a HD-DVD box set that I had purchased the day before at that same store for 50% off. I wanted to get another as a gift. I had the receipt from that store and was told they would price match. While waiting for 10 min. the manager that had approved the sale the day before, came back extremely rude and demeaning, told me he wouldn't honor the price match, saying he could only do 30%.
I left unhappy and dissatisfied, which is becoming a common occurrence for myself and many others out there because of the poor customer service we receive. If we wanted to deal with employees of that nature, we would all spend our money at Circuit City.
Sincerely,
James

Anyone have problems with Amazon? I pre-ordered a copy of I Am Legend like most everyone else here did and I've yet to receive my copy. I checked the tracking number and it went from Elkton, MD and two days later it's in Billings, MT. Now keep in mind I'm in Delaware and Elkton, MD was the next state over. I contacted Amazon and they said give it until tomorrow. This is absolutely amazing...
Strange I preordered mine a couple days in advance and recieved it on release Date.
had problems with it and they sent me my replacement disc on monday with overnight shipping.

Wow, I just downloaded and streamed the Blu-ray version of I Robot (encoded as a WMV file, still 1080 and 5.1) over my wireless network to my 360.
What sort of PC do you have? I tried to stream a 720p version of GBG to my PS3 and it was way too choppy to watch. I assumed my PC couldn't transcode it fast enough.

Unfortunately I couldn't use my PS3. It played the video too choppy and wouldn't play audio. The beauty of using the 360 is TVersity doesn't have to transcode the WMV file at all since the 360 supports it natively.

I thought the PS3 supported WMV natively now as well, but you had to turn it on in the PS3 somewhere. Maybe that was a different format.

Maybe the PS3 is transcoding it on its own internally? So it doesn't support it natively, but converts it on the fly.

WTH... where did someone find SW in HD to share with the rest of the world?
For Return of the Jedi...
The source for this release is a fresh glitch free German Premier HD broadcast posted May 27th 2007 by harlis - Thank you! You are a hero to many! The release as posted by harlis included the infamous German opening crawl, German subtitled scenes for Jabba and 25fps run time in addition to English and German 5.1 audio tracks and a third track with audio commentary. It defaulted to German 5.1 for most users and was not very playable as it stuttered badly on some systems. Not to mention the nearly 20GB file size! To make this English friendly I used the opening crawl and English subtitled Jabba scenes from the British Sky Broadcasting version originally posted January 8th 2007 by 'BK, thank you for that great release 'BK! That edition also had the 25fps speed up issue. I time adjusted both releases and edited out all frames that were German and replaced them with English. Mind you, I replaced strictly the frames that contained subtitles and not the entire scene. I also replaced the audio with the DVD 5.1. I matched the entire running length frame by frame to the source DVD to be certain the audio never goes out of sync. This is necessary as some broadcasts whether it be their source or transmission anomalies either lose a few frames or gain a few frames forcing the entire sync to shift.
You may be wondering, did Wookie make any changes to this edition since he color adjusted and restored the Han shooting Greedo first scene in "A New Hope" and restored the original Bobba Fett voice in "Empire"? Nope, sorry. No changes were made aside from encoding it at an extreme bitrate for the absolute highest quality possible.

Went to my Circuit City today to get an idea of the HD-DVD titles that still had in stock for Sunday's sale, and they had all been dumped in a cardboard bin and they were in the process of spreading the Blu Ray's across the shelf space.
