Nice, someone else who liked Flyboys. The blu is amazing, as well. I want to revisit this one now that I have a new receiver.
I really enjoyed Flyboys. I thought it was a very very good movie. Pure eye candy on BR.

I swear I hate Fox, the people there are ******ed. So you get people ready for Prison Break by releasing season 1 on Blu-ray then what do you do next? You've only got 3 seasons total so which season should you release after season 1? Oh I know what Fox will do, lets go directly to season 3. I swear they are the crappiest company ever, they cancel good tv shows, they overprice everything that they are associated with and their blu-ray plans have always been absolutely terrible.

OK so I've had this Icon universal remote from x10.com for a few weeks now.
I've got to say I am very impressed with it.
It's very easy to set up and fully (and I mean fully) customizable.
You can program absolutely any button on the remote to do anything you like.
For instance when the remote is on the DVR setting (the one I use most to control the DVR cable box) I set the volume buttons to control the volume for the surround sound system since I never use the regular TV volume.
The LCD screen allows you to program for those odd buttons you may come across and label them so you know what they are (i.e. my DVR remote has A B and C buttons for use when navigating recorded show menus)
I've never used a Harmony remote so I can't give a fair comparison, but with this remote coming in at 50 bucks.....I could not be happier with it.
The his and her favorite channel buttons with logo icons is pretty sweet too.
For anyone interested this is the site
http://www.x10.com/iconremote/icon_universal_remote_ps_lp1023.html
keep in mind this screen has a rotating price. It comes up as 49.99, 59.99, 69.99 or 79.99. (I find it crappy that they do this)
Just keep opening the page in a new window until the low price comes up.

All I found was Narnia today. Another awful hunting day. You'd think with the battle won people would at least order a couple copies of everything. If it was sold out it would be different I'd feel like it was my own fault but no one in the area getting Master & Commander? No one getting Youth Without Youth? The only 2 movies I found were Narnia and Untraceable and I refuse to buy Untraceable after reading how god awful it was. I like Diane Lane, but not that much.

Disney BD-Live features...
BD-Live offerings to date have been pretty tame, but Disney's got a few tricks up its sleeve for the first release in its Platinum Edition series, Sleeping Beauty. Blu-ray owners with compatible hardware will be able to chat with friends during the movie using a laptop, BlackBerry or other PDA, make video messages and send them to others, play trivia games, and earn points used to trade in for ringtones, wallpaper or other items. From the moment the disc hits the tray, the iconic castle will feature a backdrop sync'd with weather conditions in the viewer's hometown. As noted in USA Today some owners of Blu-ray players sans-internet will miss out, but with a street date of October 7, there's still time to grab a PS3 or one of the compatible standalone boxes coming on the market. Customer desire for next gen networked features hasn't always been incredibly enthusiastic, but we suspect once the 'tween group gets into this (and High School Musical 3 hits Blu-ray) things could change

Samsung BD-P1500 in stock
Remember that April June release date that Samsung just threw out not even a month ago for its twice-delayed BD-P1500? Yeah, apparently that's not entirely accurate. A few shots here prove that the firm's latest BD-Live-ready Blu-ray deck is indeed hitting at least some store shelves already, with this particular one being spotted in a San Diego Wal-Mart. Better still, the price was pegged at $348, or a full $51 less than the published MSRP. In other words, keep a sharp eye out for this puppy -- it's probably worth the extra $50 over the Funai NB500.

I just got my Home Theater system - the new Sony 7200DH, which supports LPCM. I have everything hooked up correctly via Monster 1000 HDMI cable to the PS3. I'm watching Mr & Mrs. Smith on Blu Ray which supposedly has DTS-MA audio. However when I go into my audio setups on he PS3 it doesn't list DTS-MA or True HD anywhere. Just Dolby Digital 5.1, DTS 5.1 and all the LPCM channels. I have the latest firmware update and I saw DTS-MA listed on there prior to hooking everything up. What am I not doing right?

Also it has the Perfect Picture and the Purest Sound. So I mean why not, I'd rather it actually have the perfect picture and the purest sound then just have the look and sound of perfect. It's a pretty big difference.

Your PS3 is decoding the audio and passing it through to the receiver as PCM. Your receiver will pass the audio through to the speakers untouched, but since it's not doing the decoding itself, your receiver won't display DTS-HD MA. It wouldn't anyway because the 720 doesn't decode that or TrueHD on it's own.
Rest-assured, you are still getting the lossless audio.
Just make sure your PS3 is set to PCM and not bitstream.

That's because the PS3 will not output the raw DTS-HD MA or TruHD to the receiver (decoding is done on board and sent as LCPM to the receiver via HDMI). If you set the PS3 to auto or select the LPCM output that your receiver can handle, you'll be good to go. :)
If you can, take that Mon$ter cable back (if you paid a small fortune for it) and get one from www.monoprice.com (http://www.monoprice.com) instead.

Second on the monster cable comment. And if you don't want to wait for something to arrive from the Internet, you can get perfectly good HDMI cables from Big Lots for $12 each.

I think that movie will suck, I honestly don't think it will have any redeeming qualities but it's the first official Universal title so I'll give it a look.
Also it has the Perfect Picture and the Purest Sound. So I mean why not, I'd rather it actually have the perfect picture and the purest sound then just have the look and sound of perfect. It's a pretty big difference.
I heard nothing good about Doomsday.
At least watch the movie before you make up your minds. It's not great, but it's better than a lot of the movies that I see you guys buy. It's mindless action with a little bit of comedy and it doesn't try to be anything else.

For the record: I loved Doomsday and I will be buying it on release. It was just so much fun throughout the entire movie. There's no epic story. It's just good action all the way through.
The other two people I went with didn't really care for it so I know it's not for everybody.

Just how good is the AQ on Twister BR?
The only reason I ask is because I heard Warner released it with Dolby True track running at between 1.7 and 2.9 mbps
Universal owns it overseas and is releasing their blu-ray with DTS MA sound, which many times has a bit rate over 4 mbps.
I wonder if it would sound that much better... Interesting.

Yeah, I know that much - I just could have sworn I saw DTS-MA and Dolby True HD in the PS3 menu where all the checkboxes are. Now it only lists all the LPCM boxes and then the Dolby Digital & DTS. My receiver displays "PCM 48khz" when I'm watching Blu Ray so I think that's right. I have the audio set to HDMI & LPCM.

I wasn't surprised with Phoenix's performance (because I already knew he was a great actor) so much as I was just in awe of it. He was definitely the standout. Walberg wasn't that great, I thought, and Duvall's character didn't really call for that much, so he wasn't that great, either. But yeah, Joaquin Phoenix was amazing in it.

I usually try to match them with speakers from the same "series", but I can't seem to find their equivalent center or rear speakers on the Polk site.

When playing older games, is it possible to view them in 4:3? I hooked up my Nintendo 64 last night to play Majora's Mask and the television stretched the image to fill the entire screen. I'd rather have the black bars if it made it look better. Is there a setting on Sony Bravia's for this?

On my Samsung there's a button on the remote for "P. Size" where I can make things 4:3 or 16:9. If there's nothing on your remote then check your menu settings.

What movies on here are cheaper at Target?

Short Circuit only 1080i does it matter to you since its so cheap? It has been confirmed by a few people now.
To be honest Its $10.95 at amazon and I think $12.95 at Walmart and I Loved this movie so I will probably pick up anyway.

Yes, Target.com is Amazon.com for movie prices. I usually cover any connection to amazon and then photocopy the printout, so it just looks like Target. So far it's worked at my BB and CC every time.

I didnt think you could adjust overscan in DLP's. I dont remember tho. usually there is a Service Menu you go in to do it. Or the DVE disc will help.
Is it a Samsung?

I think Samsung DLP's had major problems with overscan issue's. What series does he own.
If you can find the code to get in the service menu then you MIGHT be able to correct it.
If you have never been in the service menu then be VERY VERY careful as you can screw up your TV pretty bad. If you do find the code then write down all the values first before doing anything else.

Hi, whats up. figured i would let all those that didn't pre-order this, that I went to Best Buy to price match both for the $39.99, and they also took off another $10.00 because they have a buy 2 get $10.00 off deal on these and Narnia. $4.50 an episode. Let's see if all the Internet fans think it's worth it.

Quoted from Blu.com
Hi, whats up. figured i would let all those that didn't pre-order this, that I went to Best Buy to price match both for the $39.99, and they also took off another $10.00 because they have a buy 2 get $10.00 off deal on these and Narnia. So, Best Buy gave it to me for 29.99, plus, the $10.00 "upgrade" coupon ends up being $19.99 for both movies when i actually get the check!!
does the $10 upgrade coupon apply to ANY version of national treasure? or just the double dip from last last year?

I'll wait and buy it used. TV shows seem to plummet in price when they are used since usually people only watch them once and sell.

Very expensive week, I'm even toying with the idea of getting Wrestlemania....sure I haven't actually watched one since back when Mike Tyson was a ref like back in 99 I think. But it's the first wrestlemania in high def....

Target.com has both for $39.99 and Walmart.com, priced just 12 cents cheaper, has them as "out of stock", something BB will not price match (I worked there in college so I do know that). Also, the manufacturer coupon states, as the thread pointed out, that it can't be combined with any other offer. This guy got very lucky and I'm willing to bet he'll be in the minority on this one.

It also includes the HOF inductions with Ric Flair and others, including The Rock. Plus, there is the fantastic HBK vs. Flair match. If you like 'rastlin at all, it is probably worth it.

Does anyone else HATE Nic Cage as much as I do? I wouldn't buy either of those National Treasure movies if they were the only two Blu-rays on Earth, or for that matter the only two movies on Earth.
