Same here. It's not like I have a lot of wall space to begin with, but then to waste much needed space for a flap that just showcases a logo. It's beyond me...
But to keep this in line with the thread. I got the Han**** trailer BR with my purchase of MGS4 today.

For anyone thinking of picking up Men In Black today (like I was) apparently if you wait $5 you can grab it for $19.99 at Target. Same for Be Kind Rewind and Fool's Gold, both will be marked down to $24.99 next week at Best Buy. I'll pick up BKR regardless, but makes more sense to wait on MIB now.

'Kill Bill' Coming to Blu-ray this September
http://www.highdefdigest.com/images/post/6/6139/original.jpeg
At last confirming one of their most sought-after catalog titles, Disney has set a September debut for Quentin Tarantino's 'Kill Bill.'
Disney/Miramax will bow 'Kill Bill: Volume One' and 'Kill Bill: Volume Two' concurrently on September 9, marking the film's first-ever domestic debut on high-def.
Given the early lead time of the announcement, there are no tech specs or supplement details released as of yet. We also have yet to receive word from Disney whether the films will be presented in their R-rated theatrical or uncut versions, or whether a two-pack bundle will be made available. Needless to say, we'll keep you posted.
Suggested retail for each volume has been set at $34.95 a pop.

The only copies of MIB that have the move cash are the ones with a sticker on the front of the slip cover that mentions Hanc@ck. You have to peel off the sticker that reveals a code on the back you enter on a web site to print out the movie cash. And believe me, the sticker is on there with glue that you will HATE. So if you want to save your slip cover's condition then be careful when taking it off.

The new packaging does suck. I don't mind the cardboard so much, since I stopped collecting MOMC, but the NFL figures look terrible. There was no effort put into the design. The NHL ones look a little better.
Overall, no one seems to like it though. Plus, I tink people are a little irritated with TMP saying one thing and doing another. They change the packaging to get more retail space, which eliminates some nets and poses and then they change it back and we don't get nets back and they probably take up more space.
Lucky for me, there isn't a store near me that carries SPs anymore anyway. I used to be able to find them easily, and now they just aren't stocked.
Off Topic, but have you guys seen what the new Sportspicks packaging looks like with the cardboard?

Well crap, I can't use this, but I hope some of my American friends can if they're looking for a 2nd or 1st PS3 :)
PS3's for $260 or less on ebay with Buy it now. Must use paypal. The 35% off is paid to your paypal account within 60 days.
Of course, sellers may start to be aware of this now and start jacking up prices.
1) go to http://www.live.com
2) Search for the term "bluray"
3) click on the very top result that has the "live Search cashback" icon. It should also mention 35% off if you pay with paypal. this will take you to ebay.
4) Under no circumstances initiate a new search on ebay. You can only work with the search results presented to you through this link. In the "categories" you can go to video games, systems, etc. to narrow your search results down to PS3's. Select the Buy it now item you want and click on Buy it now. Ebay should display teh 35% off icon on top of the page the whole time you are doing this and will provide en exact savings total before you commit to Buy. make sure you see all these before you buy.

It's all about allowing more space for figure packaging moreso than shelve space. I think it was a good move on TMP's part since taller figures essentially had to have their legs packaged separately from their torso which always looked odd with the NBA figs.
My collecting days are pretty much dried up...I might pick up a fig or two from the Spawn series but that's pretty much it. My prized gem in the collection is probably the 49ers 3-pack with Montana, Lott, and Rice.

I've watched a few scenes and it's pretty good. Like HighDefDigest said, it's a clear 4 star video, 4 star audio Blu-ray. The scene where all the candidates are doing the tests in the egg chairs, when Will Smith pulls the table over to him is an absolute screecher in Dolby TrueHD. Impressive catalog release.
I tried out the BD Live on it and wasn't really impressed. Too slow to load and there wasn't anything there that struck me as wanting to go back for more.

Yeah, I can't wait for the LOTR trilogy on Blu.... hopefully by next x-mas. Are you pretty happy overall with the Sony 720? I'm thinking about upgrading......
The Sony 720 is easily the best single upgrade I've ever bought for my home theater. It's completely improved everything for me in regards to watching Blu-rays, cable in surround sound and 360 gaming. I try to tell every customer at Best Buy about it any chance I get.

I'm screening Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring Extended Edition now with my PS3 and Sony 720. Switched the PS3 to Bitstream. It was nice to finally see DTS-ES Discrete 3/3.1 scroll across. Sounds damn good too. I can only imagine this on Blu-ray with a DTS-HD MA 7.1 soundtrack. :D
Told ya switching to Bitstream for SD DVD's make them sound sweet. I might have to demo this again.

If you want to put your sub and receiver through a workout put in Underworld evolution in BR. Just watched it and the sound was 5/5 easily. I normally put my 705 on -12db but I had this on at -18db and it was shaking the house and was very loud.

Yeah, the 720 is great. For PS3 owners, you really never need to spend a lot on a receiver again. The 720 gives you the lossless and 3 HDMI inputs for under $300. That frickin rocks.

Yes... it's a 7.1 digital receiver that's perfect if you have a PS3 as you BD player.
The PS3 does all the sound decoding and sends the up to 7.1 channels over HDMI to the receiver. The receiver passes the channels directly to the speaker.
Plus it has 3 HDMI ins so it's good for your PS3, cable or sat box and a 3rd device (Xbox 360, HD DVD player).

I have $300 speakers and I can tell the difference. There's a more noticeable difference for certain movies, like Twister where there's a lot of crap going on. But overall the sound is more full and clearer in my opinion.
I got it from CC when it was on sale for $270, plus a $15 off $100 coupon brought it down to $255. For lossless audio it was a no-brainer for me. It's worked very well so far, I've been extremely pleased with it.
My only complaint is the remote distance isn't that great, but I'm usually aiming it at an angle, which might be part of the problem.
I can give it a strong recommendation, though, for the price.

How does the PS3 compare to having a receiver decode the sound instead? If I understand correctly, everyone with the 720 is sending the decoded signal from the PS3 to the 720. Does the PS3 do a good job with decoding?
What are the dimensions on the 720? I have a receiver already, but I have limited shelf space to put one, so I don't know if the 720 would fit.
How does the 720 compare to some of the receivers from Onkyo? I know they make good receivers as well.
Does the 720 upscale video as well?
What are the codecs I need to look for to see if the receiver supports this new HD stuff?

The sound is the same regardless of which source is doing the decoding.
Dimensions
Height 6.3 inches Width 17.0 inches Depth 12.3 inches Weight 17 lbs.
here's a link to Circuit City's write-up of it - http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Sony-STR-DG720-7-1-Channel-Home-Theater-A-V-Receiver-STRDG720/sem/rpsm/oid/207885/catOid/-12851/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do#prodspecs
They still have it on sale for $269.99 on their Web site.
I have an older Onkyo which I love and still have in the bedroom, and the sound is comparable with the Sony, except of course that the Sony gives you lossless. I find that I don't need to crank up the Sony as much as I did the Onkyo to get the same level of volume, though.
Not sure about the upscaling.

Would there be any benefit to getting this versus the 720? I have a HT setup already, but the speakers were from a HTIB, so I would assume I should get new speakers to go with a new receiver.
The only player I have is the PS3 and I don't see any reason why I would be getting a new Blu-ray player anytime soon.

IMO Onkyo over Sony. I never liked Sony recievers. Not saying that are bad just not my cup of tea.
I know alot on here have the Sony 720 and love it but to me the Sony receiver lacks something.
Onkyo sounds better but thats just me. I went to CC and a few other Electronic stores around here and listened to Yamaha, Onkyo, Denon, Sony, HK etc..
Denon is nice, harmon kardon I like, Yamaha was to bright for me and sony didnt seem to have the POP could be the receiver they were there lower end receivers. I listened to many and came to the conculsion Onkyo was just right for me.
I would just buy the receiver and pc together some decent speakers. I had an Onkyo HTIB and the speakers were ok. Nothing great. When I upgraded my speakers I noticed a big improvement.

I don't have the time to negotiate back and forth...or answer a ton of PMs. So I just took the very first person to say "I want them".
That's also why I'd rather sell as a lot. I don't have the time to **** around with 21 different transactions. Of course I'm losing money by selling it for a lot at the price I did instead of individually. But I don't care.

Maybe they can start making them so encrypted that they stop working on players. I believe that they did that on a few dvds. There were a number of Sony dvds that would freeze and skip, I am sure it is due to the encryption to try and stop the cracking of the dvds. Which then only made the unplayable. Good job on that one.

I think I'm up to 20 PS3 games now. Had a bunch of gamestop credit, also, and recently added R6V2, Lego Indy, GTAIV, MGS4, DMC4, Condemned 2, Dark Sector and Stranglehold.
FYI, Gamestop has the Stranglehold Collector's edition for $17.99 used now, which is a hell of a deal since the game is decent mindless fun and you get the blu-ray of Hard Boiled on it, as well.

Havent heard the 606 but if its anything like the 605 then yes 100 times over.
Go to CC or BB or whatever electronics store and demo them yourself.
Honestly only you will know for sure if its $120 better.
IMO:
Actual power output isn't close to the Onkyo
THD on the Onkyo is better (and noticeable at higher volumes)
Speaker connectors on the Sony are disappointingly cheap.
Check out the Harmon Kardon 247 and 347 I beleive are the model #'s

Do what TheRedOX is doing. You can get the parts at Homre Depot/Lowes for pretty darn cheap too. I did that for my PS3 and PC downstairs. Bulk Cat5 is silly cheap too.
Depending on what you wanted to do, you could run one wire and than use a switch off of that, or you can run multiple jacks. Just remember that each jack needs its own wire.
Typically a router has four jacks in it, so at best you could have 4 connections without a switch.
A switch can be found for less than $20.

Yeah, Monoprice parts came to only around $19 and that's with all new cables and 4-jack wallplates. I think I'm going to get 4 different colored jacks, figured I'd color match everything to make it easier should I sell the house, like the green jack in the Living Room would match up to the green jack in the Den. I'm an IT nerd. Part of my job is knowing that stuff, among other things like running an email server, DB server, IM server, developing apps, etc. Also, I'm sort of cheap, so the idea of running the cable and wiring for my PC and PS3 myself was more appealing than spending $200 to do it. I was running it into my basement, so it was easy to drill a hole in one wall and drop the line into my basement. Just stapled it to the rafters.

You know I never noticed that my cable is a CAT 6 one as well. I just assumed it was CAT 5. Now I wonder if I would get faster data rates, if I ran everything over CAT 6. Right now it all goes into a switch which goes to the router. I know the router is a 10/100 router and I think the switches are as well.
Still, now I have to look into this.... :(

Cat 5e vs Cat 6
http://www.broadbandutopia.com/caandcaco.html
Depending on the price, Cat 6 is the better option.
We hardly EVER sell Cat 6 to anyone. Its the Big Cat5e will sell up to 300 or 400 mhz and we sell a crap load of it. No one really ask for cat 6. We have thousands of feet in stock that just collects dust.
Category 5E Installation. Do's and Don'ts.
Do Run all cables in a "Star" configuration. That is to say that they all emanate from, and are "homerun" to, one central location, known as the wiring hub. Visualize a wagon wheel, all of the spokes, start from on central point, known as the hub of the wheel.
Do Keep all cable runs to a maximum of 295 feet (for each run).
Do Maintain the twists of the pairs all the way to the point of termination, or no more than 0.5" (one half inch) untwisted
Do Not Skin off more than 1" of jacket when terminating
Do Make gradual bends of the cable, where necessary. No sharper than a 1" radius. (about the roundness of a half-dollar)
Do Not Allow the cable to be sharply bent, or kinked, at any time. This can cause permanent damage to the cables' interior.
Do Dress the cables neatly with cable ties. Use low to moderate pressure.
Do Not Over tighten cable ties. We recommend Hook and Loop (Velcro) Cable Ties for commercial installations.
Do Cross-connect cables (where necessary), using cat 5E rated punch blocks and components.
Do Not Splice or bridge category-5E cable at any point. There should never be multiple appearances of category 5E cable.
Do Use low to moderate force when pulling cable.
Do Not Use excessive force when pulling cable.
Do Use cable pulling lubricant for cable runs that may otherwise require great force to install. (You will be amazed at what a difference the cable lubricant will make)
Do Not Use oil, or any other lubricant, not specifically designed for cable pulling. Oil, or other lubricants, can infiltrate the cable, causing damage to the insulation.
Do Keep cat 5E cables as far away from potential sources of EMI (electrical cables, transformers, light fixtures, etc.) as possible.
Do Not Tie cables to electrical conduits, or lay cables on electrical fixtures.
Do Install proper cable supports, spaced no more than 5 feet apart.
Do Not Install cable that is supported by the ceiling tiles (this is unsafe, and is a violation of the building codes).
Do Always label every termination point. Use a unique number for each cable segment. The idea here, is to make moves, adds, changes, and troubleshooting as simple as possible.
Do Always test every installed segment with a cable tester. "Toning" alone, is not an acceptable test.
Do Always install jacks in such a way as to prevent dust and other contaminants from settling on the contacts. The contacts (pins) of the jack should face up on flush mounted plates, or left, right, or down (never up) on surface mount boxes.
Do Always leave extra slack on the cables, neatly coiled up in the ceiling or nearest concealed place. It is recommended that you leave at least 5 feet at the work outlet side, and 10 feet at the patch panel (wiring hub) side.
Do Not Never install cables "taught" in the ceiling, or elsewhere. A good installation should have the cables loose, but never sagging.
Do Always use grommets to protect the cable where passing through metal studs or anything that can possibly cause damage to them.
Do Choose either 568A or 568B wiring standard, before you begin your project. Wire all jacks and patch panels for the same wiring scheme (A or B).
Do Not Mix 568A and 568B wiring on the same installation.
Do Not
(1 exception) Use staples on category-5E cable that crimp the cable tightly. The common T-18 and T-25 cable staples are not recommended for category 5E cable. The T-59 insulated staple gun is ideal for fastening cat5 & 6 and fiber optic cabling as it does not put any excess pressure on the cable.
Do Always obey all local, and national, fire and building codes. Be sure to "firestop" all cables that penetrate a firewall. Use plenum rated cable where it is mandated.

It makes more sense to go with Cat5E. Most of your new installations in the private sector are going with Cat5E.
I have seen zero difference between cat 5e and Cat 6
Just dont use Cat 5 go with Cat 5e

Walked into a placed called Coconuts where they sell CD's DVD's used/new etc. All their BR's for marked $39.99 and they had a crap load of them new and old one's.
3:10 to yuma was $39.99. EVERY TITLE $39.99 I never laughed so hard in my life. I asked if they sold many BR's and they said no. LOL wonder why.

A splitter will split the signal in 2... a switch will send the full signal from one source to another.
You want a switch.

Off topic....but F--- the last missing in GTAIV. Seriously. 20 times and I still can't beat it.
Sorry had to vent.
Do you always fail when you want to catch up on the chopper and Little Jacob just leaves you behind?
If you're, you're not the only one with the problem. I think there's a glitch in the game because my friend accomplished the mission in one try but with me, I can't get past that part

No, I can catch the chopper about 1 out of every 5 times I try the mission...but the few times I have I quickly crash the chopper or got blown up by his rocket launcher. Otherwise I'm dying on the damn bike before I even get to the jump.

Hmm...tell that to my game. I got shot by the rocket right away and it caused me to fail the misson. Maybe I didn't shoot the boat enough to get through to the next cutscene.
You don't even need to shoot the boat, just fly the chopper high to avoid the rockets, and as you get close to the island one with automatically hit you and trigger a cut scene. Just avoid all the rockets they shoot at the beginning of the chase by flying about where they blow up.

Watched most of Dirty Dancing Blu last night. It's really not as bad as most reviews say. Any scene in natural lighting looks fine. The only time I see some digital artifacting is when they are in the staff dancing scenes when the red light hits anyone in the face. Other than that and some sub par surround use it's a pretty solid release.

Are you sure they were reviewing the transfer and not the movie? ;)
As an older teen watching it in the theatre I thought it was great. A few years ago as an older guy sitting with my wife watching tv and trying to be nostalgic, I sat through that "awesome" movie and thought, "What the heck was I thinking watching this crap?!?!?!"
Stupid line = "nobody puts baby in a corner."
You are a brave, brave guy. I'd take Wild Hogs over Dirty Dancing any day.

At least you used the correct avenue to save yourself some grief by blaming it on the wife. I won't mention any names, but that seems to be the popular method of deflection around here.
