You mean biker chicks?
I mean deathly thin asexual British broads with no breast tissue, only nipples. But what they lack in cans they make up with acting talent.
I get Swinton and Blanchett mixed up because they're pretty much the same woman. Now Keira Knightly can fall under that category bodywise but her face is so damn pretty.
My knowledge of biker chicks only goes as far as the bikini clad girls on the cover of those crotch rocket magazines. Now lets you and I go and pick up the latest issue of US Weekly!

A Man Apart
Out Cold
And from the 100 worst list I own....
Premonition
The Reaping
Ultravoilet
The Covenant
Good news is I only own 4 of the worst movies of all time on Blu-ray. Bad news is I think they've only released 5 of the worst movies of all time on Blu-ray (I didn't get Happily N'Ever After)

Oaktown kept trying to get me to buy Appleseed and I actually bought it in one of the Amazon sales but then cancelled my order last minute. So really no haven't seen it yet. I've "almost" been an owner of that movie at least a dozen times now. But I've never pulled the trigger for exact occassions like this....I can now say I don't own a single anime. Marvel/DC movies don't count, I don't consider those anime.
Appleseed was terrible, but the 2 film DBZ is 2 of the best specials they made.
"History of Trunks"
"Bardok Father of Goku"
Both of those are excellent movies.

To me it was lame, the guy in the hospital with a helmet on.
I did not care about any of the characters, I did not even finish it, maybe it got interesting.
I really don't have the urge to finish watching it.
Where would you rate it amongst these.
Ghost In The Shell
GITS Stand alone complex
GITS 2nd CIG
Trigun
Escaflowne series
Gungrave
Ninja Scroll
Akira
Wings of Honneamise
Super Artragon
Full Metal Alchemist
Fist of the North Star

I've only seen Fist of the North Star, Ninja Scroll and Ghost in the Shell out of that bunch. Totally different kind of anime, which to me plays into a person's overall taste of the movie, as well.
Traditional story-wise, those three are probably better. But overall action and sci-fi elements I give the edge to Appleseed. And you did miss out on the best part, which is the 15-minute action sequence leading up to the climax.
I also thought Ex Machina was much better than the first Appleseed, but seeing the first one helps you care about the characters more...especially Brialeos (the dude with the helmet) and the main character Deunan Knute.

This thread fell to page 2....maybe it was because of the anime talk...yuk.
But anyways I watched the Fall last night. It was a really good movie. The little girl stole the show...between the accent and the giant arm cast she consistantly made for the best parts in the movie.

So, out of curiosity. Do any of you know of anyone giving away a blu-ray player with a tv purchase right now? My neighbors got jealous when we got our tv, and so they started saving up for theirs. Well, they got one, they told my wife so I don't know what they got yet. But they told her they got a blu-ray player with it.
They saved for a tv, over getting their dog's nuts snipped. This dog is ****ing mean lately, and he snapped at my new puppy the other day. So we're a little annoyed with them :)

Many people would agree with you. $25 I'll pay if I want the movie. It's just part of the hobby of collecting movies.
Videogames I have a tougher time spending $60 on, because I know in a month you'll be able to get it for $40 and in 6-8 weeks you can get it for $30.
The time/price percentage drop on blu-rays isn't as great imo.
But yeah, generally I'd rather drop $50-60 on an awesome game than the same amount on 2 movies.
And that will quickly be the case come Oct. 21-Nov. 4 with about 6 videogames I'll be somewhat interested in picking up.

09-14-2008, 10:18 PM
To pay $60 on a game I have to want it pretty bad and that's a rare thing. Usually only a survival horror title would get that kind of love. Gotta love Greatest Hits titles.
I've plopped $30 on Blu-ray and HD DVD titles too many times. I'll never add it all up because that would be extremely depressing.

Picked up KB 1 and 2 this weekend. Best Buy matched their online price of 24.99 each and gave me an additional $10 for buying both, total was about $42.
Also, each have a $10 rebate with it and I found a buddy that owned both standard DVDs so he let me have the Proofs. So assuming I get the rebates back should get these for about $10 each.

No way man...I consider it a classic and one of John Carpenter's few horrific masterpieces. My dad in all of his wisdom let me watch this when I was just a kid. Til this day it's the one "thing" that creeps me out about getting a blood test.
There are too many moments to point out, but I recently learned of a few cool trivia tidbits. Adrienne Barbeau's voice was apparently used for a computer in the movie, similar to Jamie Lee Curtis' voice for Escape from NY.
Did you also know that Drew Struzan painted the original poster art? What's even cooler...is that if you happen to have $75,000 in the bank, he's selling the original piece on his website.

That's cool...I wouldn't be suprised if they did a remake of it, considering most of Carpenter's films have undergone remakes, like Assault on Precinct 13, The Fog, and Halloween.
Not to get all geeked out on this, but Dark Horse comics released a series of books called The Thing from Another World, which follows the events after MacCready is found alive after the film's ending. It's a sequel of sorts and had some bad ass covers.

So.....has anyone here had dreams about this crap? I had a dream last night that I was in a Walgreens (even though they don't sell blu-rays, of course) and in the Tylenol aisle found a copy of Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2 blu-rays for $29.99 each. I bought them and was going to come here and post about it and then I woke up.

The Godfather Trilogy reviewed....
Now, we've reviewed these films before here at The Bits, so I'm not going to get into a discussion of the films themselves. Suffice it to say, these are among the most important and influential American films ever made, and if you're any kind of self-respecting film enthusiast, you already know that. What you may not have known, however, was just how badly these films had deteoriated over the years. The original negatives are in disastrous condition, which meant that if a new restoration wasn't done now, the first film (and possibly the second as well) would simply have been lost to us in any kind of quality presentation. Thankfully, a couple years ago, director Francis Ford Coppola contacted Steven Spielberg (then newly partnered with Paramount and Viacom) to see if Spielberg might be able to use his clout to help save the films. This he did, and so a complete physical and digital restoration was eventually done under the supervision of our very own Robert A. Harris and his Film Preserve (with the help of many talented artists - and artists they are, believe me). To make a very long and complex story short, the best photochemical elements from around the world were gathered, allowing the films to be reconstructed literally piece by piece. The footage was then scanned in 4K resolution so that print damage could be repaired digitally and the original color-timing could be recreated precisely. The result is that the films have not only been rebuilt and saved, they've been restored to quality as good or better than the original theatrical presentations - quality consulted upon and approved by both Coppola and cinematographer Gordon Willis. The bonus of all this effort, is this new Blu-ray Disc release, which captures the films in their most pure and most perfect presentation quality to date (particularly for home viewing), and which accordingly belongs in the collection of EVERY serious film aficionado.
Now... I've seen these films projected theatrically a number of times over the years. But I had NEVER seen them looking as good as they do now. Last year, Adam and I had the good fortune to see the newly-restored Godfather and Godfather, Part II projected in 2K digital at the Ross Theatre on the Warner lot (where much of the restoration work was done by the good folks at MPI). It was a jaw-dropping experience. So I can tell you from firsthand experience that these Blu-rays capture exactly the essence of that experience.
Fans will know that Willis worked very carefully to give these films a particular look. They have a certain grain texture, the color palette is washed with a specific "brassy yellow" patina, the whites are a hair overblown, the blacks are crushed such that there's little detail in them. All of this was by design. Willis wanted the films to have a certain look and feel, reminiscent in many ways of an old photograph. This is exactly what's been captured on Blu-ray - the films just as Willis and Coppola meant for them to look. What this also means, of course, is that these discs don't have "The Look and Sound of Perfect." If you buy these discs expecting quality that's like looking out a window, you're going to be disappointed. You're going to see light grain and lots of it. You're going to see some shots that aren't as sharp as you're used to in films like... say... Wall-E. You're going to see subdued colors and shadows with very little detail (so you MUST watch these discs in a completely darkened room to enjoy the films properly). You're going to hear Dolby TrueHD audio that's largely front-biased, with only light and atmospheric use of the surrounds.
But let me tell you, while this might not be PERFECT video and audio on Blu-ray, it damn sure is perfectly RIGHT. The experience of The Godfather on Blu-ray is simply a revelation, and I'll guarantee that the vast majority of you have NEVER see these films at this high level of quality before.

In a first-of-its-kind marketing move, DreamWorks Animation is bundling the Blu-ray of 'Kung Fu Panda' with its direct-to-video sequel, and giving it a Sunday release date instead of the usual Tuesday.
Unlike most studios which release video premiere sequels as stand-alone releases, DreamWorks will package 'Secrets of the Furious Five," a companion film to the $215 million-grossing 'Kung Fu Panda' with both the Blu-ray and DVD versions. 'Furious Five' will again feature the voices of 'Panda' stars Jack Black and Dustin Hoffman.
Also unique to the video release of 'Panda' is DreamWorks confirming a Sunday, November 9 street date (day-and-date on Blu-ray and DVD), which bucks the industry norm of releasing new titles on a Tuesday.
The studio has yet to reveal full supplement details or tech specs for the Blu-ray of 'Kung Fu Panda' and its companion sequel, but as always, we'll keep you posted.

I don't understand. If Kung Fu Panda made $215M at the box office.....why would they go straight to video with the sequel....why not release it next summer at the box office. STV sequels are usually reserved for those films that originally flopped....Kung Fu Panda was far from a flop.
^^^^ What will be interesting to see is if they jack up the price by $6-$7 because of the "sequel"
If it's a full fledged...90+ minute feature film....in the same quality of the first film....getting it for just another $6 - $7 would be a steal.

I know it was a joke...but I'd have to agree. If you cannot appreciate the film whatsoever and have "no desire to ever own or watch these movies".....then you probably cannot call yourself a serious film aficionado. Because calling your self one would indicate that your above simple likes/dislikes in your taste and can appreciate it for what it is and what it means to the world of cinema.
I might think Van Gogh's paintings look like *****. But I can't call myself an art aficionado...then in the same sentence say "and I have no desire to own OR EVEN LOOK AT a Van Gogh piece".
They are statements that contradict the very meaning of an aficionado. Either that....or you just want to appear to be the cool kid who opposes the mainstream public.

Amazon should have that one for $20 then.
As for the Godfather flicks, it sounds like they look very nice on blu-ray, and I'm sure I'll want to see screenshots when they're posted, but I have to echo the lukewarm feeling toward the movies. I have owned the set on DVD for at least 7 years or so, and have watched each one only once...whenever I scan through my movies to pop one on, I don't even consider these.

HDTV Buyers Get The Picture
16 September 2008 10:32 AM, PDT
When it comes to purchasing a new digital TV set, consumers put picture quality ahead of price in making their decision, according to research group iSuppli. (Lower-income consumers put price ahead.) Upper-income shoppers put brand-name in second position. The researchers said that they were surprised to discover that screen size ranked well down the list of priorities, with fewer than 10 percent of consumers ranking it as most important in their purchasing decision.

Thanks for posting this review...it gave the video presentation outstanding marks. Bravo to the Wachowski's for setting the precedent with the Matrix on DVD and now Speedracer on Blu-ray.
Speed Racer was “filmed” using high definition cameras and as such, has been ported to Blu-ray without ever being transferred to film. This direct digital approach has given Speed Racer a stunning visual sheen and a truly flawless picture. Colors practically leap off of the screen and the movie’s many small details are rendered with a crystal clear clarity that I’ve never seen equaled on home video. Black levels are deep and contrast is excellent. I can’t even begin to accurately convey how amazing Speed Racer looks on Blu-ray. This is THE definitive reference disc of the year and will be utilized the world over as a demo disc for Blu-ray for years to come.

It's this type of experience that leads me to believe that the future of movie distribution will truly be in a digital format.
Why put up with any wait, when you can download a copy to your player via broadband. I use to be skeptical about this, but now...I think it could be more of a reality.
Think about the cost decrease...blu-ray downloads for $10 seems like a reasonable deal. Not only in the cost but you also save in storage space.

Yeah and then what happens if you want to let a friend borrow it, or sell it "used" because you don't want it anymore.

I love the idea of digital downloads for rentals... if they can ever get the movie to me virtually instanting in HD, I'll sign up. Consider it takes me almost 2 hours to DL a standard def tv show (42 minute runtime), I shudder at even attempting any HD download at this point.
However, I still like to have the movies I want to own in a physical format.

Assuming everyone is on the same page at that point...I would think pay per view would be an option...to stream the movie temporarily is another...say for $5 vs. $10 to own.

The problem with digital downloads is it takes too long. HD downloads take FOREVER. SD downloads can start almost instantly, which is nice, but HD Downloads are so slow.
I'm also not a fan of the current pricing for digital downloads. It is like $6ish for an HD download and usually I can only watch it over 24 hours. If I rent something, I want to be able to watch it whenever I want. Maybe I can only watch it 3 times or something, but I don't want a time limit.
Owning something digitally doesn't really work for me. There is yet to be a device that I have complete faith in. I'm not going to buy hundreds or thousands of dollars in digital movies if I can't be sure the device they are on won't fail and I'll lose them all.
Also, I REFUSE to have my paid for content locked into/onto one device. If I buy it, I can do what I want with it, espeically if it is a digital download. I better be able to make a copy of it so I have a backup when it dies. No way am I "redownloading" my entire movie collection when said device crashes.

If I may respond to your comments...
1.) The download bandwidth will be an ongoing issue but look at how far we've come in the time span with 56k to broadband? Who the heck knows 5-10 years from now how fast we'll be able to receive data wireless.
2.) Time limit on a download makes sense for rentals. Whether it be for 3 times or a period of days, I think it's more for the consumer who realizes...it's friday evening and I haven't made any plans, so why not browse and watch a movie. There is no demand or waiting list so why download the rental early?
3.) The storage device could be a challenge since the hardware will evolve. I'm thinking of memory cards or portable harddrives to resolve that issue. When you decide on purchasing a new player or want to move the data, why not yank out the storage? Similar to SD cards perhaps.
4.) You certainly have the right to do whatever you want and transferring that content should be an option or re-downloading seems viable. If a movie studio were to setup an account whereby you have a history of purchasing the download, you are then entitled to additional dl's at any time, assuming it's under your name.
There...problems solved! :D

Did you guys see this? The new Canon 5D Mark II which is 21 megapixels will record full 1920x1080 HD video!!!
http://a.img-dpreview.com/previews/CanonEOS5DMarkII/Images/frontview-001.jpg
Movie recording in live view
Perhaps one of the biggest 'news' items for the Mark II is the provision of movie recording in live view. You can define the size (1920 x 1080 or VGA) however other settings (such as frame rate; 30 fps and compression level) are fixed. The Mark II will record a movie clip for a maximum of 12 minutes at 1920 x 1080 and up to 24 minutes at VGA. Movies are recorded in Quicktime MOV format using H.264 codec for video and PCM for audio. At 1920 x 1080 the bitrate is 38.6 Mbits/sec (about 4.8 MBytes/sec) and at 640 x 480 the bitrate is 17.3 Mbits/sec (about 2.2 MBytes/sec).

Here's a quick review on the NOES disc.
I'll probably wait until actual screnshots/reviews are posted. I'm geeked to get a copy...but I can wait.....it's not like Canada is going to run out of copies.
I just finished watching Nightmare, it's never looked so good. As stated, no bonuses - nada. The film has some grain in parts, as it should! I'm strongly against softening the picture to rid any film of grain. The extra blood splash with the first death is missing from this transfer. This transfer is visually, the darkest I have ever seen it but the colours are brilliant and dead on. Being so dark is not a bad thing but there are problems with the contrast. Blacks are not black. A couple of dark scenes (face closeups) are troublesome, better care should have been taken. My other minor nit pick is no original mono track. This disc has True Dolby HD (which sounds awesome), 5.1 Dolby, subtitles and that's it. I've nothing against "stero-izing" mono films, so long as I also get the original mono track as an option.
Overall, a great surprise seeing the film look so good, minor flaws excepted. Someone suggested that this is a cash grab by Alliance before they lose the rights, I suspect that's probably correct given what could have been a perfectly stunning transfer given the effort, and lack of any supplements. Can't go wrong at $20 if your a huge fan of the film like me!

While you're recording HD video all you do is hit the shutter button and it takes a full 21mp image just like you're taking normal pictures....
Should a photo opportunity arise while shooting a movie, simply press the shutter button to capture the moment as a still with exactly the same image quality that is set for normal shooting.

1. Perhaps, though the other issue is that while broadband is more and more commonplace, it still isn't used everywhere by everyone and won't be for some time and in some places ever. Some places simply can't get broadband service (in its current forms). This creates a need for physical media still.
2. Sometimes you download something, but then other stuff comes up and you don't get to watch the movie. Now you wasted 6 bucks. If I have a disc, I can watch it later when I get time. A times viewed limit is more reasonable.
3. Removable/swappable stoarge is a great idea. I have no faith in the companies that make any sort of movie playing device to allow that to happen. They can't even agree on what seems to be simple standards, let alone design devices that allow storage to be swapped out for multiple generations.
4. Transferring content for the most part now is a HUGE no-no. Companies don't wnat you transferring digital copies of their precious movie around. I'd be OK downloading one or two things again, but if I have a huge libray, as some people do on here, I'm not downloading all that again.

Does anyone have 'Slither' on HD DVD? How is the PQ and audio?
Here...
The Video: Sizing Up the Picture
'Slither' hits HD DVD in a 1.85:1 widescreen, 1080p/VC-1 encoded transfer, as another Universal HD DVD/DVD combo release (this one a HD-15/DVD-9 double-sided disc). It is a good-looking presentation that, though perhaps not the most amazing-looking high-def you'll ever see, accurately reflects the film's B-movie-esque visual aesthetic.
The source material is in solid shape, with no dropouts, blemishes and the like. Blacks and contrast are well-done, with the image occasionally overblown with slight blooming in the whites, but this mirrors the theatrical presentation I saw. Colors are fairly vivid, though the film's first half is a bit blander and washed-out. However, things pick up in the second half when the action plays almost exclusively at night. Here, colors are richer and the image also boasts better depth. Again, detail is not the most incredible I've seen on HD DVD and shadow delineation can be a bit muddled at times, but the picture is often three-dimensional and certainly easy on the eyes. The transfer is also pretty sharp throughout, with compression artifacts and posterization not a problem. All in all, pretty spiffy for a film that only cost a reported $15 million.
The Audio: Rating the Sound
'Slither' also gets the Dolby Digital-Plus 5.1 surround treatment, though this one is 640kbps (unlike most Universal HD DVD releases, which benefit from a far more healthy 1.5mbps). That caveat aside, the film's sound design isn't that involving anyway, with rear presence a bit lacking and no blockbuster scenes that would really give your audio setup a workout.
Clarity of the soundtrack is sharp, however. Dynamic range is expansive, with clean highs and spacious midrange. Low end is fairly deep if hardly overwhelming. Dialogue is also nicely balanced in the mix, though occasionally I struggled understanding quiet dialogue during scenes with loud sound effects. But my biggest disappointment is that the surround channels never really come alive. Sure, there are noticeable discrete effects at times, such as gunshots, squealing car tires, etc. But horror films -- even comedic ones -- are all about atmosphere, and I longed for some truly inventive sound design. Alas, the mix is pretty front-heavy, if serviceable enough.

1.) Good point about availability, which is why I think wireless networking might be the better route. With the way iPhone 3G is going, I'm encouraged by what wireless will offer in the future.
2.) I like your idea of times limited vs. expiration date.
3.) Perhaps that's where portable hard drives comes into play. If future players were to allow a USB connection (similar to ps3) than that resolves any potential transfer of content. Companies probably won't agree on a universal format, but SD cards and their expanding size seem to be a promising sign.
4.) I disagree with you on this one. Did you see the new library of movies released by Fox this week? They all have the same white cover oval on the front with "Digital Copy Version" at the top for distribution on your pc or mobile device. I noticed a few titles like X-Men and Die Hard which now support this thinner jewel case style of dvd.
I think the studios realize that consumers want the flexibility to burn a copy to their computer and then take it on the go or whatever.

1. 3G is cool and everything, but wireless data speeds are still way behind actual broadband speeds. Fiber is currently the fastest comeercial broadband (cochese has it) and it would still take him quite a bit of time to DL a full HD movie. Not saying speeds won't continue to increase, but you will also likely pay more for those speeds, thus limiting their penetration.
2. Me too. I'm a genuis!!
3. Portable drives can still suffer from failure, so that would still be an issue. Solid State Memory, like SD cards, are a fantastic idea though they still have potential issues. Better storage medium by far though. However, you again run into formatting issues with Compact Flash, SD, xD, Memory Stick, etc. Each company wants a part of the storage pie, so I see a future where you have a Sony Super-Movie Box and are locked into only being able to use/replace your SSMB drive with another Memory Stick.
4. Yes, some movies have a digital copy feature on them. They are still locked by Fox's Windows Media DRM. You can only transfer them to a Windows PlaysForSure device or an iPod. You may only transfer it to one PC and to one portable device. DRM is EVIL!! If I buy something, I want to be able to play it where I want and when I want on whatever device I want. Digital copy is just a band-aid to the real issue.

1.) Ooooh...I don't like those words "limiting penetration"...it's making me limp. But I do get your point about pricing with wireless. If you remember how limiting and pricey 56k connections were (AOL charging per hour etc.) that has obviously dramatically changed due to wider competition and availability. I think broadband is certainly pushing the envelope in this arena but isn't there a law which ironically prevents how much information can travel over cable? Maybe I'm thinking of the phone line.
2.) This coming from the owner of Wildhogs. ;)
3.) Sony can be ***** about proprietary formatting but SSM seems like the logical way to move media safely across different platforms. Maybe a 3rd party can come up with an adapter that addresses that issue. Either way, that may be one of the primary issues that could impeded any significant progress.
4.) I wasn't aware of this DRM catch on Fox movies. You mean to tell me it will know who many times I make a copy to one or more PCs? That sucks if that's the case. What if I have two ipod classics to copy the movie to?

If I may respond to your response responding to my response, responding to your original response of my proposed response to digital copies.
If I may respond to your response to my responses regarding the responses to my previous responses about your responses to my response....
1. I knew the limiting penetration part would bother you. I don't know about a law regarding a total of information over cable or phone lines. Might be one. The point overall was that even current broadband service differs in price depending on how fast you want your connection to be. Wireless, if it approaches those sorts of speeds, will be priced the same way. Many people that do have broadband have the lowest speed because it costs the least.
2. It was free, damn it!! I had no other choice!!! :p:D
3. I'm sure there might be a 3rd party adapter, but that is also an impedment to it working. anytime you require an adapter of some sort, you make it way more difficult than necessary for 70% of people. Remember, most people couldn't even set the clock on their VCR, let alone swap some sort of storage media from one device to another.
4. Go to this unnecessisarily flashed up site and click the FAQ button. Refer to questions 6, 7, and 11. If only you got a free copy.....

Might be a little OT Just bought a Home Theater System over the weekend. Hooked it up to a 42" Vizio everythings hooked up fine and the surround sound is working for the DVD player just wandering is there something to do to make the surround sound work on the reg TV? I mean the main reason i bought it was to have the surround sound for the Football games and stuff like that. Its hooked up with a HDMI cable from the dvd player to the TV. Any suggestions ??

UPS Freight just showed up and delivered a new piece of my home theater/sports room. It's a 4 part project but piece 1 has got here and I'm thrilled.
I'll be making the slow transformation over to theater seating and the first seat just got here. Yeah I know stupid I'm going seat by seat - but theres a method to my madness, I wanted dreamseats and those things aren't exactly something you get 4 of right out the gate....or at least I can't.

Ummm...it sounds like you just have the DVD player running into the TV, which doesn't help you if you are watching TV.
Connect cable/sat box to receiver with HDMI or component jacks and a digital audio cable. Connect Receiver to TV with HDMI or component jacks.
Sound comes from receiver and picture comes from TV.
If you are using an OTA, then I beleive you are screwed, unless your TV has a digital audio out, which you would run to your receiver.

Honestly I have no idea. Plan A was just to get the Bills. I wanted to see how they felt before I put any major plans together. Good news is they make your ass feel like it died and went to heaven and is skipping through an open field filled with daisies and sunflowers, while holding hands with Jennifer Lopez's ass.
Bad news is the exact same thing. Ideally I want 4 of them as thats how many fit across my TV. But I have no idea who I'd get. 4 Bills would look kind of bland. Call me crazy but I've considered Bills, Patriots, Dolphins, and Jets. The only problem is I hate 3 of those teams with a passion and the colors are all out of left field...but it's the only 4 chair theme I've come up with.

If you go with 4....I'd go...two Bills (one on each end) and a Blue Love seat opiton in the middle....that would look sweet.
If you go with 3.....I'd go with two matching blue chairs on the sides....and the Bills one in the middle....that would be pimp. I looked at the Raiders' ones before......but the Silver on the sides really bugged me. i wish it was all black with just the Silver stripe and logo down the middle. The Bills one looks pretty nice with the dark blue, red, and white. Another thing that kinda made me worried....was their jacked up return policy (25% restocking fee plus paying for shipping bith ways)...and the fact they only warranty the leather for 1 year.

My wife is going to check for me today because I don't have time. If there's nothing then I'll be going Friday to check too.
This is a must-own title and yes a boxed set will probably be coming in the future but usually when a boxed set comes out you can still buy individual titles.
Home theatre is slowly on it's way. Walls and ceiling are down, looks like the insulation is good so I'm leaving it. My first step is going to get 3 new basement windows installed. Then get a plumber and electrician to move a few things around. It's all about doing things in steps.

Watched Speedracer last night...
Two words: Simply Stunning!
The visuals are so pristine, sharp whites, rich and vibrant in their colors that it blows away anything I've seen on blu-ray up until this point. The dolby 5.1 sound was acceptable and certainly immerses you with the various racing tracks. I can't recommend this one enough to anyone questioning their color display settings.
Overall = A+ :)

The real question is how is the movie itself?
It can look like the best BR but if the movie sucks then not worth buying IMO.

I would say it's basically like a Disney movie on crack (or speed for pun sake). It's a combination of Road Warrior, Cars, Death Race 2000, and a pinch of Herbie.

What's the advantage of ordering from Tower instead of picking it up locally? Is it much cheaper online?
Tower does seem to have pretty good prices on alot of things, but Iron Man in particular is about 26 bucks (with free delivery) which is around what it would be at retail
but the kicker, from what SBrooks (I think) posted, is that tower sometimes ships the movie well before the street date. I haven't pre-ordered from tower before but I figured it's worth a shot.
