Does anyone have all 6 Bond movies in the single cases that would be kind enough to post good-sized scans? I can't find custom or scanned covers for these anywhere, and I'd like to get rid of the 3-pack cases if I can.

I don't have the US cost yet due to the crazy economy. My cost is $31.49 CDN per copy plus $4 shipping for one or $7.00 shpping for 2. I'm guessing the final price will probably be about $32 shipped per copy.

I should be able to get copies for everyone that wants them, but there are no guarantees as this will be a HOT item. I do have a contact at the local FS so it shouldn't be too bad. Plus they are supposed to be open at 9am so I can swing by before work. :)

Beats the hell out of the $45 cost some are charging on some of the HD sites... damn.

Was home sick today, so I watched a few movies.

Unbreakable: Good flick for M. Night...might be the only one of his I really liked. PQ and AQ were above average but nothing special.

Dirty Harry: First time seeing this. Looked great on blu. Dark scenes held detail and clarity but there was tons of grain and dirt or whatever spots...not the transfer's fault I don't think.

Sin City: What a disc. Sharpest picture I've seen yet. Was watching it in the bedroom so can't comment on the DTS HD-MA, but the colors and blacks are incredible.

I was beginning to think it was delayed or never supposed to be released at all...but Amazon shows mine as shipped and scheduled to arrive Wednesday along with Wanted.

Wal-mart.com is also selling it...so it's out there somewhere, the brick and mortars might not be carrying it, though.

I would have watched it on blu if it was at the lib on that format but it wasn't

that said it was still better than the Ang Lee version and the 3 Spider-man movies as well

Anyone in here have this TV (TH-50PZ800U) or one in a different size from the same model line? I need to know if it has an optical input on it or not.

Can anyone tell me if this will work? Sony BDP-S350 with HDMI and Optical Audio Out going to Panny inputs. Optical audio out on Panny going to Home theater. Will that work to get me surround sound on the home theater, or will the Panny strip it out?

Eh, it looks like the Panny doesn't have an optical input, though I'm getting conflicting info on that. So if I ran the Blu-ray to the Panny via HDMI and then used the optical out on the TV, will that work?

The main issue is the Home theater I'm running this to only has one optical in, so I need the Blu-ray and the cable TV (hopefully) to run through the Panny and then send the sound from the Panny to the receiver.

PrimeBane
12-03-2008, 09:59 AM
What's using the optical in on the receiver right now? Is it possible to switch it to RCA digital audio in (orange plug)?

I'd sacrifice whatever else it was plugged in for the BD player.

ewto16
12-03-2008, 10:03 AM
Nothing is, but it only has one input. No RCA input either. I want to be able to get surround sound from the BD player and the cable box, which they don't have right now.

The receiver is this model Sony DAV-FR10W.

I think I need a Optical audio switch.

Anyone else seeing the bombardment of Blu-ray adds on tv these days.

I was thinking about picking up the DVE Blu Ray calibration disc. I know it was discussed in here before, but basically, is it worth the 16 bucks or so?

PrimeBane
12-03-2008, 01:18 PM
Yeah, I'd say it's worth the $16... the tougher part is to find the time to sit down and go through all the material.

I've had my DVE HD DVD disk for almost 2 years now and I still haven't bothered to calibrate :o

Chugga
12-03-2008, 01:31 PM
If you want a really cheap an efficient way to calibrate your picture/audio just buy Wall-E.

They actually have a calibration process so that you can get the most out of the movie which I thought was pretty awesome. Actually owning the DVE disk and been through it twice, I was surprised to see it actually had most of the same fundamentals. It just didn't hold your hand near as much.

It's definitely not a bad alternative, you get an awesome movie and a calibration setup without having to buy any disk you'll use once and then hopefully never again.

Yeah pop in Wall-E tonight and search the menu's really quick. They have a video calibration thing (nothing to sophisticated but it will do it's job) and then at the end of that they have a little audio calibration thing just to make sure all of your speakers and the subwoofer is firing properly and placed in the right spot.

I'd most likely go with 14. I went with 12, and the wire was much too thick for the hole in the back of the Polks. The hole is REALLY tiny. :(

No do not close it! Just keep it open and cut up the card or whatever you have. It looks very good to have it open on your credit report. If you have other credit cards with balances it would be like taking 2 grand off your total debt to income ratio. You want to keep your total debt under 50%. Thats how it was explained to me, someone else might be able to explain it better:o

According to Susanne Alt over at Video Business today, Lost creators Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindeloff expect that their entire series will be released on Blu-ray as a full 6-season set at some point (likely in 2010, after the series ends), which COULD make Lost the first major current TV series to arrive complete on the format.

Out of curiosity... Almost all the Shield seasons aired and were released on DVD in 4:3.

a.) Did it ever flip to widescreen?
b.) Were those 4:3 seasons filmed in widescreen for eventual release someday?

I am not a finance guru but having multiple credit cards/store cards is very bad for your credit. The reason is because lets say each credit card/store card had a limit of $2000 and you had 5 of them.

That shows you have 10K in debt that you could spend at anytime even tho they have a zero balance.

I watch the Suzie Orman show alot and have learned alot from her. Thanks to her my credit score is around 750..

I had a few credit cards and some store cards. I cut most of them up except two and lowered my limit on them as well.

I have never been denied for anything in my life (knock on wood) But she really gives great advice.

Just my 2 cents.

That's why I always turn down those in-store credit offers. I'm proud of the fact that I've managed to narrow down my debt to ONE card vs. the 7 that I used to charge.

Plus, if you pay attention to those monthly finance charges, it's fricken ridiculous. The amount they add to your total should be incentive enough to pay off the damn card ASAP.

Regarding monthly payments. Are you suppose to pay off everything every month or just pay a certain percentage of the bill?

Widescreen fans have been questioning which presentation is the more accurate. Well, in his final commentary on the set creator Shawn Ryan answers these queries and clears up a few issues. Firstly, although filmed in Widescreen The Shield is edited in Full Frame, and to maintain the documentary feel and enhance the tension on screen was always envisioned to be seen in the Full Frame aspect ratio the final editing is performed in.

If the minimum is say...$100, then you should try and pay $150-200, depending on your finances.

Never pay just the minimum because that takes into consideration the finance charge.

Really nice article. I probably should upgrade my speaker wire but, as far as levelling, I trust Audyssey to take care of it.

I used Audyssey too when I first set up the system. Then I checked the settings and most speakers were set to large and the subwoofer was barely moving. I popped in the Avia calibration disk and made the proper changes. Most were the same but I made the center a little bit louder and changed all of the speakers to small.

Although I should try messing with the audyssey again tonight and see if it'll give me the same settings as before....

Sounds like me a few years back, I think you'll feel better knowing that you'll charge on just one account. There is less temptation to spend, especially in the "wants" vs. "needs" area.

Meh, I only carry two of the cards and I'm not even sure why I carry one of them. I never use it. Wife has one as well that is different than mine.

Most of them are open because I got 0% for 12+ months on them on a balance transfer or new charges. All those cards in in a drawer somewhere.

I keep meaining to close them every month when I pay the bills, but then I get some nutty offer and keep it open.

If you have 12 credit cards I wouldnt close 6 out at a time. That is bad as well..

Thats why I do not have store credit cards.

12-04-2008, 03:33 PM
Oh, really?? Didn't know that. That really sort of sucks. Then I guess letting them linger around is better.

I would say my debit to credit ratio on them is really good at the moment, regardless of them being V/MC or store cards.

I gave all my 2 credit cards to my GF so I could pay them off, so I can turn around and buy a ring for her, the financing thing from the store is just like an open line of credit up to 2k, they usually just close it in 2 years if you never use it. I also have a ton of school loans that I pay off every month, that I hope one day I can roll into a mortgage...I also just got a new CC with 0% APR on balance transfers and new purchases for a year, so I'll use that to pay off my other credit cards

That is not at all how the credit rating algorithm works. If you have a few store credit cards along with a couple general credit cards and you spend around 30% of your credit limit it will actually greatly increase your store. Managing a credit card properly is one of the best ways to build credit worthiness.

Picked up a couple movies from CC. Their BD's are now 40% off which make some titles decent.
Picked up Cast Away, National Treasure, Wild Things and Scooby Doo and John Mayher(sp) for .01 thats what it rang up so I took it.

Now on to my sub problem, they are sending a replacement tomorrow so it will be here in time for The Dark night. The speakers I use are BIC Accoustic. there are 2 places to get them on Ebay for a pretty good price but if you like to be talked down to, treated rudely and hung up on then you can use those d o u c h e s. I have never been treated that way before when spending $300 on something.

It sounds like all you'll need is perhaps an adapter, depending on the out of your laptop.

Here's something I found that might help...

Your laptop will have a VGA output or possibly a S-video out. For the VGA you'll need a standard VGA cable. Plug the cable in to your laptop and the PC input of your TV. If your TV does not have PC input it may have a DVI input. IF it does you can use a VGA/DVI adapter to plug it in. If it doesn't have a DVI input you can use the S-Video output on your laptop with a standard S-video cable. After the connection to your TV is made you will have to toggle alternate display by pressing and holding your [Fn] key and pressing F4, or F5, or another F# key. It's the one that looks like a TV screen. Press once to turn on output, press again to turn off your laptop screen, press again to go back to laptop screen only. If you want to put the audio on your TV you'll need a headphone to RCA jack converter (Radioshack). Plug the cord in to your headphone jack and the RCA jacks in to the same input you used for the video.

Do you have a PS3? If so Tversity is your friend. If you have a 360, you can use Windows Media Player. If you have a DirecTV HD-DVR, you can use Tversity or WMP as well.

If you have a DVI out on your video card, then you could buy a DVI to HDMI adapter.

Need to know more about exactly what you have to give you more options.

I have a PS3 so might just go that route and also have a 360 but most of the stuff is in avi format which last I saw WMP doesn't play to well.

I was just going to get my plasticbook from Best Buy. They are advertising it for $24.99. I haven't seen Walmart or Targets ads yet for the plasticbook. Sears could actually undercut all of them, they did this past week on Narnia, Wanted, etc.

Almost forgot....

Used my DVE disk last night. That thing is ridiculously boring to watch. I almost fell asleep 5 times. It is also overly complicated to understand at time. Just tell me how to make my TV look awesome. I don't need an explanation of how there is something whiter than white and how that works on some sort of scale.

My picture doesn't look any different and I found out my TV has some green push I apparently cant correct. And there is overscan. And the Gemoetry is off.

I've never been more annoyed by something. Now my TV isn't any better and is a little worse, since I know all that sutff.

I've never used that exact product, but what I use is called a NAS a Network Assisted Server. It's a huge hard drive that you set to automatically back up all of your computers in the middle of the night. In addition, most of them have media servers so I can access all of my media from any computer and the PS3. You just plug it into your router and setup the software.

I use it to store all of my family photos, music collection, and movie collection and be able to access it on any TV or computer. Since Blu-Ray disks are still so expensive and not a cost effective way of backing up my movies I have my collection backed up on my NAS and with an 802.11n router the streaming speed is perfectly fast enough to handle it.

It really is one of the coolest pieces of hardware I have bought in years. Most people look at me crazy when I tell them about it, but I know some of the guys here would appreciate it. Plus it will backup your computers in case of a HDD crash.

average price of a top 10 selling (non box set) BD title at amazon .... $23.16
... still too high

sorry but I thought Amazon would really take the bull by the horns this holiday season and put up some great BD deals to make this a destination retailer .... they have failed miserably

sorry but I don't think some Bond catalog (which could have been had at 6.99 in steelbooks weeks back with BB $10 off Magnolia coupons) on sale and some b&m price matching on a handful of titles has been anything to get excited about

.... they failed on BF ... they were even worse (when they should have been king) on Cyber Monday ... and have continued to do nothing since

There really is a huge disparity between some DLPs and these Mitsubishi DLPs. You'll be hard pressed to find any differences between this series of Mitsubishi and mid-range LCDs. You'll be very happy with the DLP set and you will not regret it. These sets can even be viewed from all most any angle which is rare with DLPs of course with how wonderful these 65" sets are that is hardly a problem.

The spray foam I'm getting is mostly just to save $$$ on the heating bill and warmth, although it does absorb sound a lot better than fiberglass so that could really help out the future home theatre. There is an acoustical spray foam which I'm sure would cost a lot more.

Also, I'll be getting $2000 back from the Canadian government in eco-energy grants. :D

I just noticed my Sony HDTV Model No. KDS-R50XBR1 has a green tint picture quality. I think the cause was when I was watching Blu-ray movie on my PS3, and I fell asleep left the TV on for 6 hours. But with the PS3 System it's has a screen saver mode. It dims the TV screen when in idle mode for 10 minutes. I guess the movie ended, and was in idle mode in the movie main menu with the TV screen dimmed for 6 hours. Any idea's what could be the problem?? I've tried resetting the TV to factory default. Also unplugging the power cable. And moving Home theater speakers away. Green tint is still there.

You have a bad optical block (OB). Sony has extended the warranty until Nov. 2008 and the projected class action lawsuit will extend it until June 2009.

Call Sony or an approved Sony repair company in your area. Explain your symptoms and tell them it is a bad OB. It normally takes around a week to obtain the part and the actual repair takes something like an hour. Good luck.

quick question..

If I hook my blu ray up by HDMI and then want to hook up my stereo (its all I got till I get a real good surround sound) up to it with the RCA cables is that possible? Because the HDMI is one cable with video and sound so I got to thinking today would it still work if I hooked up my stereo to my blu ray with the HDMI. I figured someone here may have done it... or know if it work.

HollandX

Nope no warning. Right before Peter duals the bad guy the screen froze up. I tried to unplug everything and plug the cords back in. I Restored the system and tried other games and movies. Updated the firmware. Still crap. They movies and games play for like a few minutes then they just lock up. So I think Im screwed

PS3 crapped out on me last night during Prince Caspian:mad: Now I either have to go buy a new blu ray player til mine comes back or go with out. Has anyone had any experience getting their ps3 fixed? Im thinking of just buying one to use and returning it when my ps3 comes back. Any way this sux:spawnskul

mine crapped out a month or so back and i had to send it in for repair...the laser was shot. sony jerked me around on my warranty so i sent it to videogame911 and had it back in less than a week. sony really pissed me off that day...oh well.

couldn't find the receipt and i didn't register my system when i bought it. i even offered them my credit card statement but they wouldn't accept it. it ended up costing me around $150 for the new laser and cleaning of the system. you have to pay the shipping to get the unit to them, but i slipped it in with our every day ups shipments at work so hopefully nobody notices it on the bill. :D

I wonder if they (videogame911) would repair it if I voided the warranty...mine crapped out also about a month ago

At that point its almost cheaper to buy a new PS3.

If it hasn't been mentioned before, just wondering where you bought your PS3 at? I think Best Buy and Circuit City can find your transaction if you used a credit card and print a receipt.

How do you do the firmware upgrade on the Sony BD player? The one I ordered for my parents just showed up today.

Anyone think that stores like BB and CC will sell out of TDK on BD on Tuesday? Just wondering because I won't be able to stop at BB until around 5pm.

You can pre-order with in-store pickup at Best Buy now.

Anyone know how to change the shipping option on something you bought on Amazon? I picked Super Saver, but I really need them to ship via regular shipping instead. The person who I couldn't understand at Amazon customer Service indicated they couldn't do it but I could later.

Can it be changed under "revise order"? I did that recently to change my method of payment successfully, but not sure about shipping status.

If it hasn't shipped yet and the item is the same price, you can always just cancel and re-order.

Where would I find revise order? I don't see that as an option.

These items aren't something that I can cancel and just re-order.

My warranty is up on my PS3 in 19 days, and I can't wait for it to happen.

I've never had a problem sending anything back to Sony. I sent my PS2 back a long time ago and they fixed it for free. No warranty and no receipt.

Some of us can't seduce the tech support people over the phone like you can. We're not willing to sell our bodies for cheap rewards and copies of Wildhogs.

The easiest way is to plug a network cable into it... it updates very much the same as the PS3.

If you can't do that, you'll need to burn a CD with the update on it.

Oh I can do that pretty easy. I've got a hub in my basement. I assume it has to be hooked up to the TV though, right?

Also, how long do you think it will take to get those TDK SBs down here to Ohio? I can't remember how long it took for Sin City. I need the one for a gift, so I'd be willing to send you some extra scratch if there was a faster way of sending it. Not sure there is though, since it is coming from Canada to here.

Yours "should" come a little fast than everyone else's (as should everyone's that asked for 2) as I have to send them small packet air mail. I believe the last movies I sent like that to Jaylis took less than a week to arrive.

If your item hasn't shipped or isn't "shipping soon" there should be an option to "view or change order" on your account screen.
