I've been so happy with the turn of the Spawn comic that I started to get excited again thinking about the direct to DVD new cartoon series, but realized that I haven't heard a thing on it in forever and a day it seems.
Any update or news on the status of this would be FANTASTIC!
Keep up the great work!

I myself have asked that, I aksed Mr. McFarlane a while back and he says it's on hiatus, all I know is that the chanel is undecided bbut, Todd said that they were most likely going to have the voive actor from the last animated series play Spawn again

I think a good network for Spawn to go to would be Spike TV. The Blade series on Spike had pretty impressive numbers for that show when compared what it was going against in it's time slot. Just seems a natural fit to me.......Wonder if they have even considered Spike as viable option? It would get way better distribution than say a network like HBO......Not everyone has the premium cable channels.

yeah, that's true but, HBO is uncensored, so, various ideas Todd has could be expressed more lightly ya know?

I asked Jon about it at last years comic con. He told me it was scripted, the actors were hired and it was narrated and then the whole project was shelved. This means it's as dead as dead can be. In other words CANCELED!
To make films one must either be willing to give up some creative control or pony up all the cash yourself. Todd is not willing to give up any creative control and his little companies are not capable of funding movies. Sad but true.
Just watch no mod will comment on this because they know I am speaking the truth and they aren't allowed to make Toddy look bad by saying he canceled a project that he vowed "he would make this No matter what", lol.

ahhhhh.. time to bust naughty’s' bubble.
The animation has not been shelved; there have been a couple of speed bumps in the road, but we are in the process of moving forward.
It is true that Todd does not want to give up too much creative control. He is definitely looking at ways to do this all ourselves, which is a hard kite to fly in the industry but it can be done and will be a better end product as a result.

Awesome... I've been waiting to hear something new about this... I wish they'd just go direct to dvd, honestly, but I know that's not going to happen... I guess I'll just have to get cable, then...

Joe has to do that to tread the company line. I like Joe alot he was very honest with me when we discussed Todd's new philosophy on action figures. Also notice that he really gave you NO information at all.
The speedbump is the millions of dollors required to send it to China for animating and thats quite a speedbump.
Because honestly there is no way Todd's little empire can fund making movies. I'll eat an old sneaker if this ever gets made with TMP funding the project. So unless HBO, Spike or Cartoon Network picks up the finance for the project (in which case my sneakers are safe) this won't ever get made.
So if your happy waiting 5 to 10 years for nothing to come out... fine. If not just remember what Naughty told ya.
Canceled! :p

Oh, man!! I will definitely hold you to the old sneaker bet!!
I am a big fan of the animation, growing up on a steady diet of cartoons, then going to an art school to study animation will do that to a guy. I have always been the guy around the office to bug everyone about getting this animation done, for my own personal interest and entertainment of course!! :D
I know Naughty is very passionate about his interests and collection and that is why he might seem a bit down on the animation, it has been a long wait for all of us.
You might just have to bring that old sneaker to the next San Diego Con!! Either that or dinner is on me!

So your saying that The Spawn Animation will be out before comic con and TMP is funding the whole thing? Awesome news man!
If not I will bring an old shoe for you to dine on as well cause it sounds like we have a dinner date. :D

No.. not saying that it will be out before comic con or the TMP is funding the whole entire thing.
But I will bring the tobasco sauce, I hear old sneakers are way better with a little spice.
