Here's the hilarity with the Kings, first off half of the jerseys listed have been bought. My friend has that Simmonds jersey so I know that one's gone. Pretty sure the other third jerseys are gone as well. A friend of mine who is also probably the biggest Kings jerseys collectors talked to the guy who priced the jersey and laughed in his face when he told him, "We priced these jerseys to sell." Now this was even during the Kings final game of the season sale in which all Game Worn jerseys were 40% off. Of course a lot did sell as some people picked up jerseys at 300 bucks a piece, others did not. A lot of the role players and higher end players did not sell. I know I wanted an Oscar Moller but it was $2,500 so even at 40% of I'm not spending 1,500 on his jersey.

Rumor has it they're going to do what they did last year. Mark every jersey down between 125-500 bucks.

I went to the Flames sale: here's my report :D


It seems like things were a little more structured this year -- wristbands for those waiting in line (to prevent people from showing up at 7:55 and butting in line), and definitely a more controlled entry into the Saddledome (instead of letting the floodgates open and having the place become packed with people). We were in and out pretty quick -- there was still a pretty long lineup by the time we left.

Coolest thing I saw was a blocker from Matt Keetley (probably used in QC last year) with "'Hardest working player' and 'How bad do you want it?'" written on tape on the inside.

Funniest thing I saw was a bunch of new wood sticks with "Keenan" stamped on them... don't think there was much demand for those


Normally none of the big names are available for GW sticks, so I was pleasantly surprised to walk away with this:

The blade has a crack, but as you can see in the photos, it still displays great. The crack is also probably why they reduced the price (fortunately, right into my price range :) ).

Went to Hawk Quarters stick hunting this past Friday. Last year, at the end of the season, they put out all the sticks they had at once. It seems this year they are putting out new sticks every few days. Two Fridays ago, I saw a few sticks I didn't see the last time I was there, and this past Friday, I saw yet a few more sticks I hadn't seen since the last time I was there. Anyway, I picked up a Brian Campbell Dolomite Warrior and a Ben Eager Easton SE16. Yes, I do have these guys already, but the Campbell stick I have is a model he never used, and the Eager stick I have is from his early days with the B;ackhawks and they the stick was Flyer colors.

There were a lot of really nice jerseys in the room, I took pictures of some and then realized it was semi-pointless to take pictures of a bunch of random stuff.

Hey Mike.. it's sort of all of the above.. by looking at the stuff for sale on the game worn forums (besides http://www.gameuseduniverse.com/ , you'll have to search around for baseball and basketball, I'm only familiar with hockey), ebay, various auction houses (www.ha.com , http://www.americanmemorabilia.com etc) , and stuff listed for sale is rarely a firm price, but serious low-balling is never a good idea..

I don't make much more than you, but luckily when I started getting into jerseys, I had a decent collection of SPs that I sold to buy a few jerseys, then each year, I would ear-mark some of my Christmas bonus to get a new Gelinas jersey that was being worn the first part of the season (he was my main focus until his retirement), and the rest came from scrimping and saving, hiding money from the wife, until I had a few hundred set aside for another jersey, usually one that was 1/2 price on a summer sale. Throw in a couple jerseys bought low and sold high, and it slowly turned into a half decent collection. Sounds like the things you'd like are in the high end of things, unfortunately budding collectors aren't going to land a Bossy or Jeter jersey right off the bat, unless you have mucho dinero that you don't need (like, $5000 or so)

This Nystrom is super nice.. several points to photomatch, good marks on the front and back, there's a washed out bloodstain on top of the back 3, and it looks like the bottom of the 3 on the back was ripped in a fight, and needed to be re-stitched..

I heard people complaining about ones like these (not sure if these are the exact ones or not) -- they scratched the stick when you "clip" them into those metal holders.

If you do a search on gameworn.net you can probably find lots of ideas -- if you have a couple you want to display on a wall I've heard people buying plastic zip ties from Home Depot with the extra tab that you can screw/nail into the wall.

Since MeiGray has a virtual monopoly on NHL jerseys, I think they have to keep an (artificial?) price point to maintain those $400+ sales in the future.

If for whatever reason MeiGray hits hard times and has to liquidate -- only then will we see a massive inventory dump... as much fun that would be picking up bargain Flames shirts, I don't think that would be a good thing for the hobby...

The glove was used all of his rookie year (00-01) and into the 01-02 season I believe and the blocker was used for half his rookie year and part of 01-02....

The only one he uses would be from the NYR.

Many times a player has one set blade pattern for actual game use, and one the brand names in his honor to sell more sticks.

Check out the Reebok Crosby sticks---his curve is usually straighter, but they sell a typically curved blade.

For Lundquist, I'm sure a 27.5 inch paddle, with a open curve would be his actual game stick.

Bauer/TPS usually only sells 25-26 to the public.

Yes he did just switch to Bauer this season. I am not sure if you are looking for exact measurements that he uses and all or not. Finding that model of Bauer stick might be a little tough at the moment as it seems most places still sell the older style with the Nike logo on it still. What exactly are you going to use it for?

This would be the closest you can get to an actual stick he's used in a game right now.
It has a 25 inch paddle, but it's in his colors and should have his name on the shaft---call their customer service line for details.

Actually, i think thats a junior stick--but the closest you'll get. Look around on their site, and you may find a replica set of gloves or pads deeply discounted.
