wow, that avs sale was crazy. i don't know if i was in the wrong part of the small area they had all the stuff at or if if they barely had any actual game used sticks, but i only got 2 sticks. both are marked game used, but neither has tape on them. still happy with them. got a brunette and turgeon. will post pics when i get home later tonight. was lookin at some theo pads from early in the season but i couldn't find the price tags so i left 'em

probably. i remember a few years back someone at the avs board mentioned they had salo's pads for like $1300. i think they had like 3 or 4 of the same style pads from theo. none from budaj, though. i'm bettin by now there's next to nothing left

Just a question from those that have ordered from Meigray....when you log in to your account, if the jersey has shipped will it let you know? Mine still say "checked out". I didnt use my login info when I bought the Henrik Sedin, but on the Daniel and Salo I did.

I have things i ordered on last sumer sale that don't show them shipped. I wouldn't put much stock in that. I always just got UPS notice. I thought with UPS method they use to Canada, they already have your fees taken care of?

Salo: Very little Wear, and no Blade tape or End. However it has his Spraypainted blade he does. Close ups show some chips off, and some runs in it. One of those neat little things you find on stuff.

Report from today's Calgary Flames equipment sale:

Doors opened at 8:00 am, and after seeing the huge lineup last year (albeit, with a 10:00am start time), we decided to get there by 7:00 am. Got there right at 7:00, and there were probably about 20 (?) people in front of us. Not bad.

Got inside in the first "wave" (I think they only let "x" number of people in at a time), and wandered through the aisles overwhelmed by all the GU stuff on the tables before finally getting to the sticks. No Iginlas, Phaneufs, or Kiprusoffs (didn't see any, but didn't see anyone holding them either), but a decent selection of GU and new stock. Also had tables of GU skates and gloves (thankfully, they spread out the tables this year so there was more room to walk around), as well as some other GU gear (pants, helmets, socks). Also had various collectibles and clothing with some pretty hefty discounts.

After some hemming and hawing :confused: , a bit luck :D , a second trip back to the sale later in the morning :o , and the efforts of my loving wife :), I think I unearthed a few hidden treasures :cool: More haul details (and photos?) to come later tonight!

Alright, here we go :D Won't have pics until tomorrow, so the descriptions will have to do for now...

1. Lombardi GU Vapor XXX stick - I've never seen one at the Fan Attic before, so I decided to jump on it... light use with a slight crack just above the blade, but still pretty strong. "HENHENHEN" handwritten on the top of the shaft, something Lombo does to all of his sticks :)

2. Tanguay GU RBK SicKick stick - fully taped on both ends with customization done to the blade. Decent use.

3/4. McLennan GU Sherwood sticks (one black, one white) - shows a ton of (practice) use... at $20 each, I couldn't say no!

5. Pair of red Flames socks with "12" written on them... GU Iggy! :cool:

6. Pair of Huselius GU Easton gloves... number 20 written on the palm, and "HUSELIUS" stamped on each glove (starting to fade). These things are teenie-tiny, and show tons of use (including replacement nylon on the front of each glove). These were kind of an impulse buy -- I was going to put them back, but couldn't do it... the magic that he's able to perform with these gloves on was too cool to pass up :o

7. (Bargain #1) - Rbk Flames pants with #3 written on the inside - new NHL shield on the back... possibly Phaneuf? Currently trying to photomatch... :)

8. (Bargain #2) - a pair of used Bauer Reactor 5000 goalie skates... I am 99% sure these were worn by Kipper when he came over from San Jose in 03/04, up to the end of the first round against Vancouver in the playoffs :eek:

A few other things I observed while at the sale:

Coolest item - Iggy's personalized skates... there must have been 4 or 5 pairs of Iginla skates that I saw for sale (the website said they were selling 10 pairs!), all Nike one-90's. However, one pair had "Jarome Iginla 12" stiched onto the heel... pretty cool, but $350 was too much for me :(

Near miss item? - while I was looking through the pants, I saw a guy grab a pair of Vaughn goalie pants for his teenaged son to try on... had the original suspenders, but I couldn't see if there were any markings on the inside. Kiprusoff and McLennan both wear Vaughn pads, so I was hoping to get a chance to inspect the tagging, but unfortunately they ended up taking them.

No love for Noodles - McLennan's pair of white Vaughn goalie pads (worn in the first half of 06/07) were there for $750... a lot of people took a look at them, but they were still on the table when we left.

Passed on - Langkow GU stick - saw a nice Langkow Vapor XXX for $75, but decided to pass because it was missing the blade tape... also, unlike Lombardi, I've seen them at the Fan Attic for sale so I can probably get one next season if I really want to.

Better late than never - Saw a bunch of stuff from Vernon's retirement night (pucks, pins, etc.) heavily discounted... felt kind of sheepish because I bought a puck, patch, and pin that night at full price that night. However, I made up for it by getting a really nice Vernon framed display that I was thinking about buying for only $100 (50% off!).

P.S. Also got a couple of small items ($5.00 or less); passed on the $4.99 Tanguay figures (although I did see one guy with an Avalanche chase!).

P.P.S. I definitely spent more than I was planning, but picked up some pretty good stuff at some pretty good prices :)

I was disappointed because I was at the Thrashers vs Caps game at the end of the season and Semin was out of the lineup I was hoping to see him as well as AO. Oh well hopefully I can catch him next season.

Speculation here in DC is that Semin will have the Swede from last years draft, Nick Backstrom centering him this year. If he's anywhere near as talented as reported, it sholud make for a very interesting second line. The Thrahers/Caps games are always very entertaining of late. Id love to snag Kozlov as a UFA for shoot outs and PP improvement.

I was looking though the June 5th Issue of The Hockey News and there is an article about Spezza. Well one of the pictures in it has Spezza with a pink stick. I am guessing it is the one you have, but it could also be the one from last year. Just thought I would let you know if you wanted to check it out. I saw a couple shots of him using a nike stick, but nohting that looks like that. Also saw a shot of him using a Mission stick which was kind of stange.

I do believe something is wrong with my camera. Now I put fresh batteries in there to take a pic of some customs I have been working on, and I try to upload the pic, and the files are corrupted. Have tried it on 3 computers and always the same corruption issue. Time to buy a new one, maybe a canon rebel :)

Huselius gloves were the most expensive at $75.
Iginla socks were the least expensive at $2 :D

Everything else was in between... the Phaneuf pants and Kiprusoff skates were just sold as is (not labelled as belonging to a specific player), so they were pretty cheap :)

1980's CCCP Game worn jersey......probably of a junior player.....no idea who though....pretty badly beaten up with holes, rips, and puck marks.

Ovechkin Dinamo Game Worn jersey.....very little wear, so I suspect it's only been worn in a game or 2, has a number of park marks on the front and back of the jersey....as you can see it's also been signed by Ovechkin too.

Then below we have a collection of pucks.....

The 1st is a Malkin game puck from a Magnitogorsk vs CSKA game, 2nd is a Datsyuk signed puck used in a Dinamo vs Avangard game (Datsyuk scored 2 goals with this puck)...3rd isn't a game puck, simply one Zherdev signed whilst in the penalty box during a game...4th is a Kovalchuk signed puck used in the Rosno cup during the lock-out and finally is an Ovechkin signed puck used during a Dinamo game (I cant remember which though).

But best of all..........I got everything free.......except the Dinamo gamer, which I had to swap an Authentic Caps Away jersey........with Ovechkin himself (again during the lock-out)....this was the first time he'd seen it, and was seemed keen to get one for himself.......I guess he wasn't patient :-)

I've got a friend who works for the FHR, and I was in Moscow shortly after the WJHC (the one when Ovechkin got injured), anyways I had a VIP pass and got hold of him outside of Dinamo's locker room, and asked him to sign my Washington jersey for me, I had it all folded up just so he could sign the number. So he asks to see it opened up because he hadn't seen the away jersey before, and then asks me if I'll give it to him. At this point I'm kinda stunned, and say it's the only one I have, so he agrees to sign it. When I get back to England I realise I have another, (I'd bought a few when "Teamstore" were knocking out all those jerseys on ebay, and picked up a few for about $70 each). So I contact my friend in the Federation and asks if she can speak to Ovechkin and see if he'll swap a game worn for it.......at this point I'm fully expected a "NO" but I thought maybe he'd agree to giving me a stick. A few days later, I hear back and was shocked to hear he'd agreed to it, so I mailed out the jersey, and it was given to him by the Russian Team's masseur during a tri-nation championship, Ovechkin then had someone in his family bring his jersey to the Federation, which I then collected on my next visit to Moscow. :D :D :D

So there you go, beats paying $5000+ for one.

I've also managed to pick up signed pucks by Viktor Tikhonov, Boris Mikailov, Alexander Yakushev and Mayorov.

Devils sticks went for some nice prices. Brodeur was tops at 955. Someone must be a big Jim Dowd fan,he went for 325. my luck isn't holding.. the guy was gamewornjerseyking and he's had a few issues with buying (paypalled gordo, then took it back, claiming a car accident) and selling (had the issue with Tucker where he might have added wear).

Anyways, I tell him I'd like to wait til I hear if my offer is accepted, and I tell him this up front, we negotiate and everything is set, and then I say it again, that I'd like to wait until I hear my offer before he sends payment, and he emails me this morning saying he's got another jersey because I couldn't decide if I wanted to sell the jersey.. :mad:

I guess I just dont experience with MLB jerseys, but couldnt all the patches and numbers be placed the same on each jersey?

I highly doubt they could patch every jersey and cut every pinstripe jersey the exact same. You can look at say 10 different yankees home pinstripe jerseys and stripes will be different on every one on where they go through the #'s logo ect.....

I dont know that patch seems to start on that one pinstripe. I havent seen any other jerseys with it, but what stops the team from starting the patch on that same pinstripe on each jersey? As I said I dont have a lot of experience with MLB jerseys.

I guess you could call it more in the lines of a pinstripe possible match. I think that method works best in excluding a jersey from a photo. When you can clearly tell that something doesn't match up. Just what I can tell from royfans picture is everything is where it looks to be. Pretty decent chance it is what he has. Not as good as a puck marks or dirt stains.

That is a lie. I distinctly remember last year's NHL Alumni Ovechkin stick having a very unusual tapejob. The shaft had tape on it similar to how Kessel tapes his sticks.

WOW, I got home and had the delivery card for my jerseys waiting....and BOOM! I look at it and there is $116.78 owing when I go to the post office to pick them up. That is flippin ridiculous! Especially since the jerseys ARE MADE IN CANADA!!!! I am trying to find some info on if there is any way to dispute that charge, or get it refunded, as there is no way I should have to pay that for a Canadian made item. Thats a bunch of crap!

Sweet Chavez bat! He is one of those great under the radar player's. His stuff is still reasonable. I was looking at the A's pink bats now up. No Chavez, but a really nice wicked Nick Swisher is up, with some nice use and his custom tape job. I'm sure his will go for a lot.

Nice photo match on the Ben jersey. Never seen the Tampa 10th patch, very cool.

a couple other things that i have picked up that i didn't take pics of was a GI darren mccarty red set 3 from this past season and a 2004 eastern all star luongo that is supposed to be a GI but has no meigray tagging but does have the nhlpa logo on the hem that only the real ones have

Got the D.Sedin and Salo jerseys this morning! Lots of visible marks on the Sedin, as it is the white road one, and there is some noticeable marks and board burns on the Salo as well. Pics coming ASAP!!!

Already the Biggio pink is heating up on mlb.com. Not sure who the toughest team in the NHL to get game used stuff from, but the Astros in MLB may be the toughest along with St. Louis Cardinals. Also, with a couple hardcore Astros collector's like egameused.com and 3,000 hit bat collector's are going to want his bat. Should make for some nice coin for charity. I've only ever seen one of his bats for sale on a site and never one for auction.

When I was watching the A's-Giants game last week the announcer said after every game Bonds takes all his game used stuff and labels it and sends it too his warehouse.

They said Biggio does the same with all his items and he's a big time collector. They also said he asked Bonds for one of his game used bats and Bonds asked for one of Boggio's in return.

I guess that's why items from both players are hard to find.

I hope ESPN does a box set of the short lived Bonds on Bonds show they had. They had a show where he was at his warehouse going through his stuff. He had boxes and boxes of stuff. Some going back to his college days. I think a few years after he retires, he will sell off stuff slowly. Also showed him labeling his jersey and bat after a game he hit a home run. I know early this year the SAM company that makes his bats out of Canada was way behind on orders. He even used some SSK bats from Japan early this season and last year used some M9 louisville sluggers. I don't know why he didn't go and take some of his SAM bats out of storage.
I think the Biggio bat will like last years Bill Hall bat. Wouldn't be at all surprised if Biggio has his people bidding on it for him.

Hank's 05-06 jerseys were $1200, and the 06-07 stuff was $1450 I believe.

They had tons of Hank's Game Used Auto'd Synergy SE's for $275 a piece.

Those were the only Zetterberg items.

I didn't even go to this year's Kings Equipment Sale. Usually they do a very poor job with it and unless you are there really really early you have no chance on anything good.

Maybe because they wanted 1,200 for Kopitar skates earlier in the year.
