I got the Modry during Meigray last summer 2 for 1 sale. I needed a jersey to pair with a Pooh Bears Bruins and got Modry. I was just going to sell it, but I found the photo-match and liked it a little more. If I get a Brooks Thrasher I will probally sell it. Not a big fan of Modry either, just the Trashers...........

Sorry, it's not available at this point and time.It's one of my prized possessions as far as hockey memorabilia goes. I got to meet him in person at that Caps practice facility to have him sign it in the locker room after practice. So, it's a little more valuable to me from a personal standpoint then all my other GU items.

Ron Francis got the stick from the Capitals for a local fund raiser for a youth hockey team. Ron's sons play youth hockey as well in Carolina . He knows some of the parents on the local team from tournaments.

Thanks guys. I originally had my eye on the puck from the second period goal that AO scored in the All Star game. I was actively bidding but things quickly got way out of hand on the puck. I then turned my sights on the AO jersey. I was in a bit of a bidiing war for a short time but I got lucky when the other bidders stopped bidding much sooner then I figured they would.

There are too many fakes on the market. I had suspicions about the one that Classic auctioned off a while back and this one looked questionable to me as well. I am willing to pay a premium and wait for one I am sure is legit.

I checked out the GU AO stick on Lelands a bit when another boardie asked me to. My findings were that the tape job on both the blade and the handle were different then any AO stick I have seen. He does a lot of different things with his sticks so it's not out of the question that he could have used that set up before on a stick. I'd like to see a photomatched reference picture of it though before assuming it's legit.

Thanks for the AO sweater shout out.I have an interesting story, but not about how I bought it. I got it from a guy that won it in an auction.

Anywho, I got the stick but was never able to photo match it, but it looked legit, which is why I got it. After I got the stick around all the puck marks I noticed a few dashes of green paint. I figured "I guess he used it against the Stars" and never thought anything of it. Then a few months later I was in Barnes and Noble and saw a book on the greatest hockey players. I decided to see where they ranked Roy. When I turned to his section, I noticed his stick. I had never seen him using a pic of the model (Koho 590) until then. Apparently he used the stick during his last playoff series against the Wild. :eek: Made me happy to find that out.

Thankfully this time they had Meigray deal with it all. Probably the best thing as unlike the Katrina Auction these jersey were up with in weeks and not months. I remember it did come Fed-Ex last year but it is so much nicer getting a Meigray Box. I have those things all over.

I won the Tom K Kings jersey last night. I got the winning notice email. Do you have to do anything? Is it just automatically charged to my credit card and sent? Is that how it went on your Hinote Avsfan? I had a few I was watching on the Kings. Some of them went amazingly high. Checked getty and found 3 great shots of him in the jersey. Is that julio guy still selling 8x10 getty images for $5? I had heard he shut down for awhile.
The Sabers all got out of my price range. Andrew Peters game issued went for almost $800, just crazy on what some of them went for. I stayed away from any Thrashers bidding. AK17 didn't go that high, less than 2k. Going to try and keep track of all the prices from last night and what is left in the next few weeks. Can you go back and get prices on the first couple of rounds? I couldn't pull up anything.

Yeah when you entered a credit card number at registration they just charge it too that credit card and send it on out in a few days.

Yanic Perreault went for 565. If you add stuff to watch you can see what they get sold. So if you felt like adding all the Brooks auctions you can see what they go for that way. Would take less research and stuff.

Riddler, that Federov is a match..

I am the first bidder on the Gelinas Brooks jersey. I have the Katrina, so I'm debating whether I want another barely used 1/1. If he gets traded, probably not, I'll need the $ to get his new jersey. I also have his current blue and alt red pre-ordered with nearly 50% down, so I may have to ditch the blue one of those as well. It's not scheduled for much use.

I SOOOOOOOOO WISH I could go back in time and bid on the Kipper skills competition jersey. $640 is a freakin deal and a half. the Brooks jersey went over 2 grand, and he was the backup, didn't even play! the All star jersey got more use out of that one!!! :mad:

And Riddler, again. For sticks, I try and get a pic as HIGH resolution as I can, so that when you view it at full res, you can see the detail, regardless of how wide it is.. here's two ways I've done.. if I'm not feeling lazy, I just crop the top and bottom and make it super widescreen :)

Brew, sorry, I missed your post on the previous reply. I'm just now learning the art of digital photography for some reason. I have the part down now as far as taking them on a digital camera, uploading them to a computer, storing them on a hosting site and retrieving them from there for posting on the web. It's a work in progess on refining the actual photo taking skills though. I'm all ears for any and all advise. I'm using my wifes portable (for easy storage in her purse) digital camera right now. I need new batteries for mine which might help the image clarity somewhat.

Someone may know something that checks the thread plus pictures are great for the thread. I'm in the same boat with determining when some of my older Caps game used sticks were used. Very tuff to find photo's. I wonder if media guides and/or programs might be helpful.

The problem i have with my Cote and Ridley sticks are they were they years that the players rubbed out the manufacturers names on their equipment to protest something. I forget what it was for.

There are people who can still determine the make and model of a stick with it rubbed out. I have a early year Jagr stick (1992?) that is blacked out with paint. I can still tell it's a Christian stick when I use the right angle and light source plus other signs like "USA" on the shaft is still showing. I think 1992 was the time frame that there was some sort of uproar about fees for stick companies owed the NHL that may account for the two sticks you have being rubbed out. The other possibility is that in international competition, sometimes sticks have to be blacked for advertising issues. I hope to start doing more research into my older sticks and hopefully provide useful info to possibly help others.

If your into any type of game worn/used stuff there are tons of websites to visit. The rumor has it that the Caps old equipment manager was demoted because of making fake items and sending them out.

Thanks for the link. I've told a couple people who contact me who knew I had a legitimate GU AO stick about a couple of AO sticks of his that were up for auction recently. I thought they were questionable at best but in my opinion were bogus.
Based on what they sold for, it looks like people stayed away from bidding on them. Sad to see this sort of thing tarnish the GU hockey industry and even sadder to see major auction houses getting the wool pulled over their eyes.

If they would do there job properly, (strong research/homework ultimately proving legitimatecy versus some canned statement like a "source" says it's good) this whole issue could eaisly have been avoided. Yes, I'm a longtime Redskins fan but I don't wear my local team blinders anymore. I don't care for how the team has been managed sense Danny Boy took over control of the team. Previous to Danny's regime, I was proud to be a fan-win or loose. Now, I spend more time being embarrassed then proud to be a fan of the Redskins. I can't justify spending anymore money on the Redskins then I already do as a season ticket holder. I draw the line there. My heart, passion and focus have long ago shifted to NHL hockey and the Caps in particular. Sad that it had to come to that but I'm sure people understand it here in DC and other cities with similiar ownership problems. Maybe it will change back to the way it once was. I had hopes that Gibbs would return the respecability factor back to the Redskins but instead, more of the same old BS.

Yup -- the Flames wore commemorative warmup jerseys with "VERNON" "30" on the back and the player's regular number on the sleeves. They were autographed after warmups and sold via silent auction at the game. I've got some pics but haven't gotten around to uploading them yet :o

The jerseys actually worn during the game were a one game set with the 30 patch on the right chest -- I believe these are going to be auctioned off by MeiGray on NHL.com (although don't quote me on that).

All the Robitaille retirement jerseys were signed by Luc so I think since it's already been signed by Luc I think we're going to get it signed by Armstrong and Visnovsky.

The Armstrong is mine and I owe my dad in installments as I don't have the money that it cost to buy it but I work enough that I will eventually. My dad decided to spend the money on the Visnovsky for my mom. So technically it's hers but right now it's in my closet until it is taken by her.

They were all sold at Team LA which is the team store inside Staples Center. Jerseys were priced from 750 to 3,500(Highest price I heard).

At the end of the night most collectors got who they wanted from the sale. I picked up one which was my goal then my Dad decided on another.

Players that were left at the 2nd intermission. Dallman, Weaver, McCauley, Brown, Avery, Cammalleri, Tverdovsky and maybe Willsie I can't remember.

Kopitar went for 3,500. Best priced from what I heard and I would have bought it if I got there first was Alex Frolov for 1,500.

Here ya go Riddler. Congrats on the Ovechkin jersey. The Modo is possibly matched to the photos below but they are such poor quality, I'm not sure. The board burn could be the mark in the bottom circle and the thread could be the one in the top circle. The actual thread was bigger but one day I stretched it to see how long it was and half of it came off. If you click the link you can enlarge the photo and see the marks better.

The two pictures below them could possibly match the fold or "dry cleaning" crease in the left arm and the style of the "A" is the same. Also, I found an article showing this photo and the caption said Forsberg injured his hand later in the game, which would match the top photo.

I got this lineup card and ball this past summer. Both are from the same game and MLB authenticated. Jonathan Papelbon was the winning pitcher and I was able to get him to sign the ball a couple of months later. I was able to get pics of him signing the ball too.

They are from the AFC Championship game. I purchased them through Adams web site, thats why they have the hologram on them. And I was able to match them to a few frames on dvd I have of the game.

^ Not sure, but I'm excited to see what each team does next season. With the high price point on retail authentic starting out, I expect to see the gamers to be even in more demand. I wouldn't be surprised to see common/cup of coffee type player gamers starting out at $400 for pre-orders next season.

Have the Bruins Buyck night actual game jerseys with just the #9 patch on the front been auctioned yet? I need to do my taxes and see if any big return is in order or sell a few things and get some jersey funds flowing.

I see a Jets and a North Stars jersey on there. And since both teams are gone I just wanted to know how often would I see a jersey like that on that page from either those 2 teams or Quebec or even Hartford? I am thinking about putting a few bids on it but I dont want to jump on these 2 overpay and then find a cheap one down the road. Thats why I am asking.
