View Full Version : Sam Raimi Confirms Spider-Man 4, 5 and 6

I know this is kind of old news because it's been rumored for so long but...

At the Los Angeles press junket today, Spider-Man 3 director Sam Raimi confirmed that Sony Pictures is doing a 4th, 5th and 6th installment of the popular franchise.

We'll have his exact words shortly, but Raimi said that he hasn't had time to think of any involvement and he doesn't want to presume Sony would want him to direct.

He said there has to be a good story to tell and that "it'd be very hard to say goodbye to 'Spider Man.'"

really, they want to continue one of the biggest money making franchises in history? Unbelievable!

Now we just have to see which of the principal cast will be back on board.

Also, I wish they had done what they were planning on doing by calling the sequels by different Spidey books. Originally Spider-Man 2 was going to be "The Amazing Spider-Man", but the studio execs probably figured the public is too stupid to comprehend that one. There are enough unique titles to last for several movies. Off the top of my head...

- Amazing Spider-Man
- Spectacular Spider-Man
- Web of Spider-Man
- Peter Parker: Spider-Man

some of the others, like Adventures of Spider-Man, don't work quite as well, but I'd probably still prefer that to "Spider-Man 3, 4" etc.

sony could end up running this franchise into the ground imo. so many new movies and having to constantly bring in new villians. they'll have already knocked off so many by the end of the 3rd that it might be strange to see how they fit others into the series

so many? I count 4...

There's still Rhino, Scorpion, Lizard, Kraven, Chameleon, Carnage, Mysterio...

Maybe the Scarlet Spider will show up at some point. I loved that character and "impact webbing." Though I don't think the mainstream audience will give a damn about villains like the Jackal, Kaine or the Grim Hunter.

i can see lizard and mysterio. the rest are a stretch imo, especially carnage. kraven could be plausible, but it'd have to be directly tied to another villian

i want to see Mysterio, that'd be awesome.

Well, 4 could pretty much be about Venom (he just shows up at the end of 3 or so I've heard).

5 could use the Lizard and Mysterio (as SSG said).

6 could bring back Venom and intro Carnage.

There's sooooo much good material left for them to use. :)

Spidey has enough cool villains that they could easily make three more good movies. There was a GREAT storyline in Ultimate Spider-Man that would make an awesome movie, with Dr Octopus and Kraven the Hunter. Kraven is the host of a cheesy reality TV show and he goes to New York to hunt the "ultimate prey", Spidey. At the same time Spidey's having to deal with Doc Ock, and Kraven is just an annoyance who keeps getting in his way. When Kraven confronts Spidey on live TV, Spidey just knocks him out with one punch.:)

Villians wont be difficult to come by. Hell X men used most of the same villians for all 3 flicks.

For all we know his Host is killed...the symbiote itself could evolve to exist without a host or could have a new host all together. Personally I would be happy if his over rated black ass stays dead though.

I would like to see....

Part 4. Kraven The Hunter
Part 5. Electro
Part 6. Black Cat

Just as long as Raimi stays away from The Hobbit film (Rumours are hes being linked with making it, i hope to god its not true), and churns out more of these Spiderman films its fine with me.

Spidey's got one of the weakest rogues galleries of all time. Stupid, one-dimensional bad guys that keep coming back.
He's still my favorite comic book character and I've enjoyed the movies, but I wish that he'd get some good bad guys.

Electro...ooooh. He can shoot electricity.
Ock...he has lots of arms.
Kraven...the hunter.
Venom...goo that loves Spidey so much it wants to kill him.
Carnage...crazy blood-goo.
Rhino...****** with a horn.
Sandman...he's gritty.
Hydroman...he's moist.
Vulture...old scraggly bird-faced man.
Goblin...just the name Goblin strikes fear into the hearts of 5-year-olds. But he's got such a color sense. Green and purple.
Demo Goblin...pure laziness possessed.
Hobgoblin...whatever the order was that they appeared, too many Gobbies and too little effort.
Spot...he's holey
Black Cat...Knockers and a grappling hook. Good for lonely fanboys.
Tombstone...He's made of stone.
Chameleon...he can change his appearance and do stuff.
Mysterio...He lives in a fishbowl and makes with the hyp-motizement.
Scorpion...has a tail that's pointy.
Lizard...dumb and ugly. Wears a coat.

There are just so many bad Spidey villains. Whatever they pick for the next movies will probably involve the Goblin again. As long as they keep them fun and pace them well enough I'll watch. But damn, that bug has just got some crappy enemies.

They should restart the Punisher by having him appear in a Spidey movie, adpated from his first appearance in the comics.

You are clearly not a fan of comics. Most comic villains are kinda lame. Like Batman has anyone better to take on? Even the Joker is kinda stupid when you come right down to it but the guy is still entertaining as hell. Back in the day they were very much worried about the bad guys being cooler and more popular than the good guys so they pretty much went out of their way to make them cornball.

I don't buy comics anymore. But I grew up reading them all the time. Big part of my childhood. Now I might pick up a TPB occasionally to see what's been happening, but that's about it.
Lots of villains are stupid in conception. But Spiderman has probably got more stupid villains than anyone else.
I can still be a fan and be critical. It's allowed.

true, but you haven't said which characters villains are not lame. Batman's is a guy that looks like a clown. Superman's is a bald guy. We're saying spider-mans rogues gallery is no worse than anyone elses

Meh...I will give another guy a chance. Raimi is great and all but I doubt he is the only director capable of doing a good Spiderman movie. I would actually like to see him get back to his roots more than I would like to see him do yet another Spiderman movie.

Not necessarily a bad thing. Who would have thought that after the first Star Wars movie that another one without the Lucas touch would work? Then we got The Empire Strikes Back, which is pretty much across the board considered one of the best of the franchise.

I can see why you would be apprehensive though with what happened with the X-Men movies after Singer left them.

Carnage, you know perfectly well that after SM3 ends that in the fourth they'll have both Venom and Carnage.
Lizard, A very strong canidate. Connors has been drifting in and out alot in the past 2 movies.
Hob Goblin, Okay by the sixth film they'll have to do Hob Goblin. It was too early for a second Goblin in my opinion and this is the perfect opportunity for the return.

As good as the current group are, I'm pretty sure that the Spiderman franchise survive without some or all of them, as long as a capable director is there to helm the series. With all due respect to Ms.Dunst, she and the current ensemble are not larger than the character.

Part four with Kraven? Oh come on, we've seen more advanced characters now. There's no way the series can go back and do a more low tech villain now.
Electro, I maybe able to see him if there was another villain along side him. Maybe Shocker? I'm a big Shocker fan.
