Aaaaaaaargh! Pardon me but his head is bad! Please McFarlane! This one must be redone. If you put this head on another body, you see a different person! This is not Guy Lafleur! I hope to see a new head soon ...

I agree too. That is NOT Lafleur. I was looking forward to this figure but no way am I getting it now.

Also, his famous slapshot pose would have been more appropriate. Ah well.

Agreed. Very poor.

I remember Guy most for sitting on the bench and spitting on to the ice. :D

Completely agree + we need him skating down the wing with his hair flowing mad!!! This is the player that I've been most anticipating and right now, most disappointed with this figure.

I wonder if TMP purposely made the head fatter/wider so that during the shrinking process it'll look more thin? I noticed during the scanning and shrinking process, a lot of the heads get squished. If that was the case, that'd be really smart of tmp.

Perhaps but I really think this is more than just an issue of his face looking too fat. None of the facial characteristics look at all like him.

Looks like the actor from The Rocket.

Really bad sculpt, look at the eyebrows, the sunken eyes, the lines from the nose to cheeks, the hair is wrong, the jawline is off.....

I was a HUGE Lafleur fan as a kid and this is a shame.
Might as well of made an SLU of him when you look at the accuracy.

As I posted in the Legends 5 photo thread, I grew up in Boston as a Bruins fan with Guy Lafleur as my idol - slight conflict of interest, I know. The Lafleur figure was my most anticipated SP ever. Two things really struck me when I viewed the photos; 1) the thick body and 2) the short neck/wide jawline. Lafleur had a pencil-neck and a slight build. His eyes should be downcast looking where the puck would be and his eyebrows should be peaked higher on his forehead.

Is there any precedent for a re-sculpt of a face after the unveiling of an SP series.
I'm praying there is a touch-up done here. Also for a Canadians white chase. PLEASE NO NORDIQUES OR RANGERS! That comeback sucked.

They made Yzerman look like Sean Penn too, so maybe somebody in sculpting is a big Sean Penn fan ;)
Now we can create our Line of Ignomy: Yzerman-LaFleur-LeCavalier

I'm a huge Lafleur fan as well and I agree whole heartedly with most of the comments..... it just doesn't look like Guy.... i'm one very sad dude right now as I was highly anticipating this fig...... the hairline is great..... pose i'm not crazy about, but whatever....the face is super important, especially with the fact he didn't wear a helmet....and to me it's way off.... not sure of the approval process, I imagine Todd and Guy both had to approve the sculpt, but somehow, the ball got dropped here ! :(

I'm sorry. I must have been crazy to think that Lafleur's comeback was anything but a triumph. Let's see, with the Rangers and Nordiques he played in a whopping 4 playoff games in three seasons.
In his career with Montreal he averaged 1.295 points per game.
With New York and Quebec he averaged .648 points per game.
What an amazing comeback. It really did a lot to enhance his legacy.
Maybe he can attempt to comeback again next season.

By that logic you must have zero respect for Gordie Howe as well.

By that logic you must have zero respect for Gordie Howe as well.

logic - the study of the principles of reasoning.

Maybe stating that the comeback "sucked" was a bit harsh.
Lafleur was my idol. It was painful for me to watch him play at such a diminished level after having witnessed his amazing accent to superstardom, followed by his gradual but dignified decline into productive veteran.
I'm not a fan of any of these comebacks; Jordan's, Lafleur's, Deion Sanders etc.
It's just my personal take on the subject.

respect - deferential or high regard; esteem.

I'm not sure that Gordie Howe or Guy Lafleur would be concerned with whether or not they are respected by the members of this board. I think they were both pretty great hockey players for the overwhelming majority of their storied careers. I don't know either of the men personally. They seem like they'd be pretty good guys, worthy of respect.

Interesting story...

I know what happened. A TMP sculptor went to the movie "Maurice Richard" drunk and thought he was looking at the "Guy Lafleur Story" and sculpted the actor Roy Dupuis who was playing Maurice Richard. That's it!

Toronto and Montreal fans were really looking forward to a couple of figures TMP was producing.....The Darcy Tucker figure and this Guy Lafleur one. Now that they both look nothing like the player the anticipation for these figures has gone down immensely.
I wonder if the sculpter for these two figures are the same and if he still has a job with TMP

The jury is still out on the Tucker figure.

We have yet to see a good photo that shows Tuckers face from a good angle. All the photos shown to us so far are from bad angles only showing his side profile.

From the photos I've seen so far they don't look too bad. They definitely at least look remotely close to Tucker and are recognizable.

I'm waiting to see a better pic of his face before I pass full judgment.

A lot of people were not happy with the pose selection either but I don't have any issue with it, I think it's fine. Considering they had to use a resculpt on this figure I can't think of any other sculpt that would have been better, especially when you factor out all the other sculpts that have been used on other Leafs players.

I asked Mark if he could show us a better pic of Tucker's profile but he never responded.......

For the hull money has already been spent on the machine mold ...all it needed was a winnipeg repaint. Besides people haven't generally expressed dissappointment with the hull so they won't act on one person's complaint.
The lafleur seems to have alot more people dissappointed in it....the pictures they've shown us are hopefully of the prototype only.....and it has not been machine molded yet . Without that machine mold made yet....there might be a chance of a change before heavy money is invested in the production process of the mold.
