yeah that happen to mine last year and i wasn't happy! and I was even more mad at myself for not getting the warranty from Microsoft. But I got it fixed from M$ for 125 i believe and then bought the 3 year warranty for $60.

Man, I don't understand for the life of me why there isn't some kinda class action lawsuit against Microsoft over **** like this. I don't have a 360, but I know if I shilled out $300-400 for a new system and it just DIED on me within like a year, I'd be fightin' man. Even MORE so if Microsoft tried to charge me to get it fixed.

It's a great system but i also don't understand how microsoft is getting away with this. I mean, they know that 90% of their systems are going to die only after a few months of play time and yet THEY want YOU to buy a warrenty or pay $125 to fix what they knew was going to break because of the way they made them.

I got the red rings....unplugged, and wam! Fixed....I got teh lucky.
