It's an early project by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, I thought the movie was actually pretty funny for something that was done by these two. Here's the IMDB synopsis.

Alfred Packer was a mountain guide and sole survivor of a party of pioneers that got lost in the mountains in winter. Accused and convicted of murdering and eating his travelling companions, he was to be executed by hanging. The movie begins at his trial, where he pleads his innocence to an unsympathetic audience. Only reporter Polly Pry will listen to his story, which is then related to the viewers in the form of flashbacks. As Packer and his gold-prospecting clients make their way through the forests and mountains, they encounter bemused Japanese Indians, an unimpressed group of mountain men and the brutal Rocky Mountain winter, all of which inspire the travellers to break out into song and dance

It's pretty funny given how strange the premise is, but you do have to be in a Parker/Stone state of mind to really enjoy it. It is a musical after all.

It's not as funny as some of Matt & Trey's other stuff, but it's funnier than most other comedies out there. It's definately worth seeing at least once.

I didn't enjoy it so much... it's not nearly the same as their South Park/Team America humor... and I just didn't find it funny.

Troma is working on an anniversary edition. I don't know when it's gonna come out but they've already said it's gonna be some arbitrary number based on whenever it comes out like their (crappy) 21st Anniversary Edition of "The Toxic Avenger".

Hopefully it will have the deleted "Don't Be Stupid" song that Troma cut out (they also insisted on changing the title, it was initially "Alferd Packer: The Musical".)

But yeah, I love it. I think it's better than "Orgazmo".

The DVD commentary is amazing.

I think all Troma movies are region-free but if you live in the UK then you would need a NTSC to PAL converter.

It would be a matter of your DVD player being able to play it but your TV not being able to display it properly.
