With all the changes from USPS, I figured I'd ask: what's the best, most economical way to ship from the US to Canada nowadays? I'll def need one w/ tracking.
Thx for any info.....

not sure if it is the best way, but I use Priority International.

Priority International is trackable.

First Class International is considerably less than Priority International but has no tracking.

The delivery times aren't much different either, Ive used both methods and they take about the same time to Canada.

Priority International is trackable. The post office always says it's only trackable up to the US Borders....once it's outside - they can't track it. I guess that's wrong?

Ship with Fed Ex or UPS. They have there own custom stations and it will be alot faster and cheaper. USPS lost 2 out of 4 of my last packages from canada. I am not happy at all with their services. Plus now USPS new thing about the size of the box is outrageous.

UPS can hit people in Canada with outrageous brokerage fees out of the blue. I shipped a $100 hat to Alberta and the poor guy got stung with a nearly $50 brokerage fee from UPS. There's no predicting or guaranteeing these charges either, which is why UPS/FedEx will never have my international business.
I ship First Class Internation or Priority. Tracking sucks either way, but only Priority is insureable. Since USPS won't cover my ass against losses, I cover my own and I let people I ship to know the situation.

In the past, I would use UPS Standard to Canada which the most reliable & "economical" way.....but it doesn't give me that option (I don't know if the weight which is 9lbs has something to do w/ that). The only UPS option I have will cost me close to $200.00!

I personally ALWAYS use International Priority.... only way to go IMO

Mark it as a gift with a reduced value to avoid customs fees :)

You'll see when it leaves customs but not when it reaches the destination

I know people do that alot too. It works.

I had no clue they did that and I work at ups. I know fedEx got me my package from Canada in a few days like two. But I live in Ohio, and Canada isn't too far away. It didn't cost much either. Canada and USA post office shouldn't even have customs because they are to close together.

Please, never use UPS, Fed-Ex or any other of those crooks to ship to Canada. I will never buy anything that is shipped with those.
I like when people just ship air mail.

Airmail no longer exists though, it's now International Priority or First Class

shipping with insurance is alway a good idea when Shipping to Canada. For some reason the PO can track those packages and if the package doesn't arrive, or you can't prove the package arrived (paypal anyone) then you have recourse to get your $$$$ back.

Well, since their priority prices went up......I was just wondering if it had some effect on shipping internationally also.

If you pay for the postage online for international shipments it's actually a couple bucks cheaper
