View Full Version : Jin-Roh Kerberos Protect Gear

Hey guys, I've been thinking for a while and I wanna get one of those Takara Panzer Cops from Jin-Roh. I've already looked at all 3 companies (Takara, Dragon, Medicom) and Takara looks the best hands down. The thing is, is it really worth all that money? It's like $160+. Keep in mind I'm only 16, and I don't work (I worked this summer though, made just a little over 1G :D). In the end I plan on getting the male version. I've also read that Takara was making a Kerberos Saga, but I don't remember if that was a few years back and if they're still making that line. What I want to know is what do the people that own this figure feel about it, will I regret it if I buy it? I've already regretted a few things that I've bought, like my PG Strike Gundam. Anyways here's a pic of the one I want for people that don't know what I'm talking about. Oh and one last thing, how's the durability of the thing? I broke the knee joint off my Guyver II figure and am a bit paranoid that I'll break it if I get it.

Nope, I plan to get it off the internet. I think kawai7 had some at his store http://www.urbansamuraihobbies.com/ but it's sold out now. I'm also thinking a few stores might have it in Richmond but they'll probably be overpriced...

Midori Washio, in the limited black version and the wider-release "German Grey".

Grey Version, for posterity, Noting that the second shield came from my other one, and that she doesn't come with an MG42:

http://i12.tinypic.com/4cwolcw.jpg

The funny thing is I've seen Japanese sites taking preorders for what looks like a rerelease of the black Midori. HLJ is calling her "mat" black, but it looks like the original to me.

Anyway, I've yet to hear a complaint about the Takara version. It retailed for a couple of bucks less than the Medicom, and is obviously superior.

Plus there is virtually no personal weapon fielded by the Reich that hasn't been translated into 1/6 scale, so the accessorising capabilities are nigh endless.

I own one and I can honestly say that it is high quality piece that is reasonably durable and made of high quality materials. However, is it worth $160+? No. But then again, no figure in my opinion is worth that much, but if you are like me and are a huge Jin-Roh fan, go for it and try not to regret it. I'm pretty sure after you receive it, you'll be quite satisfied. Here is how I'd rate the figure on a scale of 1 to 10(10 being positive):

Value: 5(yeah it's a cool piece, but come on, $160?)
Sculpt detail: 10(excellent attention to detail in every aspect of the costume and face)
Poseability: 5(not very poseable at all. I don't know if it was the armor that got in the way, or that the joints were stiff but I could barely put him in his classic pose were he is holding his big ass gun with both hands)
Presentation: 10(Beutiful product presentation through and through. Everything from the box art to the placement of how the figure and its weapons was displayed was perfect)
Accescories: 8(Came with a lot of weapons but I felt that they could have included a little bit extra for $160)

Hope this makes your decision easier.:)

Thanks for the reply, as for the poseability, I think you just have to get the joints a little more movement. I was using the search function a few days ago and was looking for info on this figure. I don't remember exaclty who said it but you could put it into any pose that the promotion pictures showed.

Maybe it's just me being a little bit scared to try and forcefully pose him and break him in the process.:D He is a pretty expensive figure after all.

Nemestrokus

Here it is.

http://board.spawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=395739&highlight=kerberos

He can do everything the promo pics show him to do and more.

All you have to do for the arms, is break the material in. Keep making him do some curls, to get the material used to bending. Move the straps around and his arm plates too to help. Same for his shoulders, just keep posing it...eventually the material will flex enough to hold poses.

For the legs, I don't know what the problem is there...I had no problems posing them at all.

The Takara one is better, but they are comparable. What I mean is, if the extra $30-$50 is what is the breaking piint, I suggest the Medicom one at about $130.00. Plus it now comes with the 301 body. You can still get them from cornerstorecomics. However, if you don't mind paying the extra moola, go with the Takara.

I agree, I love the detail of the takara one. I've got all of those and takara definitely looks the best.

I've recently read that the black mask on the Takara 1s tend to stain the faces underneath? Is that true?

It was true on the Midori.

Just wash the balaclava in vinegar before you put it on to get the excess dye out.

Haha I saw those over at OSW browsing around. Which figure was that though? The chest armor looks like the one from the anime but I don't think any of the companies ever created one.
