View Full Version : Jin's LEADER PRIME and Starscream with hands! Gray F-22 style

Drumroll if you will! After what, weeks, a month maybe, my Leader Class Prime is finally finished. I had one hell of a time opening him up because I was determined to swap the yellow LED eyes out for a blue one. Turns out there was this metal pin that was covered in plastic keeping him together. Once that was tapped out, Prime opened up like an middle-aged-rock star on a psychiatrist's couch. I created his sword from the clear orange plastic of a 22 bullet ammo case. This stuff is STRONG, took me a while to dremel it out, I think it’s solid acrylic. Click Prime's link for the info on how it attaches and such tho! Now for Starscream! A pilot of an F-22 Raptor emailed me and asked if I would consider making SS look like a real Raptor as they’re gray, not tan. Low and behold the gray paint job makes him look WAY cooler IMO. I hate missile fingers so I ended up making removable, fully poseable arms this time around. Did you know a Xevoz balljoint will fit up into SS’s empty shoulder socket perfectly? Now you can swap his arms out easily with anything using those! Dammit Jin you've done it again. Prime is awesome, and you painted Starscream exactly the way I would've painted mine! I even wanted to find a way to simply switch out the arms rather than mess with the existing ones... it's like you crawled into my mind and took the things I'll never do, then did them. *feels a little violated, but accepts it*

LMAO! And now you know how to attach the arms on yours. Buy a Xevoz kit at Kaybee or something and use a ball-joint. Pops right in and pivots.

hm. jin, you should really cast some of this stuff. you could just sell a ton of ss-arms, or prime swords, or even just the heads, retooled for balljoints. you could sell them unpainted and unassembled for dirt-cheap, and still make a killing..

Thanks everyone! I might cast a Prime Sword someday but another Transformer fansite is already doing a clip-on one. Mine you'd need to install magnets and such.

you know, those hands look good, but they're still not quite there yet. i wonder if one of the interlinks, or some other MCF 'bots. might have more suitable mitts..

Jin when are you going to give a better guide on repainting tfs? I look at the one you have but is not that helpful.

What else can I put in a guide tho? That paint guide has more steps than what I used on Prime here, lol! I don't do airbrushing with TFs and I'm not a pro at that. Come up with something you think would be more useful than what's there and I'll add it to the guide.

I'm happy! Pays for the groceries this month and I get to eat.

Jin.. can you do a custom devastator(recent WM exclusive pack) in your Movie-like colors with a nod to the G1 figs? I don't want it commissioned, just thought that'd look pretty sweet.
You mean the mainly green one that uses the Energon guys? I'm sorta trying to make my own by collecting different construction TFs and somehow get them to mesh together. Got that Cybertron cement mixer I want to use for the main body, LongRack for one arm, etc. I'll do the G1 nod and movie details with that, whenever I finish it!

I think that's what they gave him for hands, I wish I had a clip of that in the movie! I've only seen it onces (yes, shame on me) and need to again to see what Ratchet's gun looked like and other things like SS's weapon.

Man my auctions went through some major hassles this week. I think people got sick of all the bid retractions and I ended up blocking 5 bidders for messing around. Got some unsavory messages as well from what looks like GothicRaven's buddies and added them to the blocked list as well. I was way late on finishing Leader Prime, there must of been 20 done before me too, heh. Gotta get the jump on things!
