...I'm gonna ramble on for a bit first so bear with me.

So the wife and I just moved from congested and crowded South Cali to warm and very wonderful Arizona at the beginning of September. So far I love it here, and regardless of what others say, the heat's not that bad. It's cooling down but my first weekend of 114-degrees was rough.

Now I'd like to share a few things that have happened this weekend.

#1 Swingin Spidey: I stopped into Micheal's Arts & Crafts and picked up a large roll of wire and finally got around to the upgrade I've always dreamt of doing. I used the wire, twisted it tightly and randomly making webbing for my 18" Spider-Man. As you can see below, I think it turned out really well. I was able to get that webbing look that Todd did with Spidey's webbing that was so popular. I'll probably adjust the pose several times before I'm happy.

#2 Mech-Gouki: a friend of mine finished my custom Mech-Gouki (Cyber Akuma to others). I sent him my black Shin Akuma a few months ago and when I got it back, I was floored. He used the arm of a Giant Robo figure I pointed out to him long ago and he cut out the wings, eye piece and painted him up in a nice metallic blue tone. His spiked shoulder pad fell of and I need to locate it, but I thought I'd show of my one-of-a-kind custom. Jin, when are yu going to attempt this???

#3 Props to McFarlane (and a complaint): So I discover I'm only a 5-minute drive away from McFarlane's Tempe location, and another 10-15 away from their new Glendale store.

Friday night, the wife and I decided to drive to the Glendale store and buy from their massive stock of 12" Mandarin Spawn II and Spawn #07. The wife's always loved Mandy and wanted one when he heard he was getting the 12" treatment, and I want Spawn 07, desperately. When we visited two weeks ago, they had 40-50 of each just sitting there. Awesome! I hadn't received my first check yet but when I did, we were coming back here. We walk in. Mandy's there but Spawn 07 isn't. Apperantly, every Spawn fan in AZ decided to buy every last one they had and the last one sold just this past Thursday. The staff tells me they're all gone, none are expected to come in and the Temp location is out as well. Damn.

This is my complaint. If you McF people know that this particular figure is selling so well, how about you produce more, huh? Fifty are sold in 2 weeks??? I 've yet to see one at any retailer so I think this warrants a second run. Please.

So we bought Mandy. I picked up a new Clown III for my display and the new Spawn 11 from Series 31. This is where McF gets my props. Can I just say that I really like this figure!? It's stunning! The sculpture's gorgeous, the selection of arsenal is quite impressive and I love the whole presentation. Maybe it's just me but I think McF has hired some new artists because it's an improvement over what they've done recently.

I really like that someone's finally figured out that if they're going to give Spawn guns, then they should mold the hands out of a softer rubber so they can fit without having to heat up the plastic or break it. I also appreciate the fact that the maskless head is a standard feature now - hopefully no more having to purchase variants. It's really an awesome piece. I'd love to see this baby get produced into a 12" collectible.

Oh yeah. I piced up the G.I.Joe and COBRA 5-packs from Target. I love these figures, and I'm actually going to give Hasbro some recognition for once. I ususally hate their stuff and only buy the necessities (Alternators mainly, which are no more). They did a really good job on recreating the glory of these awesome little 4" gems. I like the COBRA set most but yeah, good job guys. You made me feel like I was 9 again.

Thanks guys.

Manga_Spawn: how often do you visit? I'll be visiting about every two weeks. Once those HALO 3 figures launch, I'll be outside waiting. I want one of each and at least two Chief's.

Swinging Spidey looks great!

Yeah, I think it came out as I thought. Now I'm just waiting for a wall hook to come loose as I walk in the door and get a concussion from 5 pounds of solid plastic breaking my skull.

I also forgot to point out that I hung up Unicron as well (seen in the baqck of pic #1). The wife thinks I should get a foam ball, decorate it silver and place it between his main pinchers.

Cool stuff and welcome to AZ! You moved here too late though, we had like 2 months worth of that lovely 115+ degree heat this year lol. Pretty cool living so close to the stores huh? I live like 5 minutes away from the Glendale one :-)

NICE!!
I want that spidey!!!!!
Then I encourage you to purchase one. The one I have was from the first Spider-Man movie but they re-released it again for the third, I think in black as well but I could be wrong.

The KB outlet store I used to live next too in California had tons of them on clearance for $8.50. It's worth every penny.

Mr.Wiggity: yeah, that first weekend was brutal but the weathers awesome now.

18" Spidey is one of the greatest figures ever. I love that figure to death.
Nice display and nice custom you got. Mecha (Cyber?) Akuma was one of the hardest bosses in X-men vs. Street Fighter (counting Marvel vs. SF too).
