Alright so I Posted this yesterday On the "Santa Clause...what a disappointment" post the other day

Yea I was wanting something along the lines of Goldberg from Santa's Slay Or The Santa Clause from The "Bonestorm" Commercial from the simpsons.

I nabbed MRs. Clause and the Elves from Frank and Sons yesterday. They look Great. Im gonna give the elves some blood splatter on there blades tho.

I like the Idea of just Replacing Mr. Clause With Santa Spawn, or maybe giving Series 13 Zeus a Custom Job.

I got some good responses back so I just wanted to know what type of paints work best with customizing Mcfarlane figs? What is the best to use for blood?

I probably wont be doing any sculpting, maybe shave or file some parts down so Santa will probably be just some changes in Paint Scheme. any Info would be greatly appreciated.

I use acrylics they are easier to use, mix and clean up. There are many brands and consistencies that you need to be aware of. These are user preference, so experiment with the ones you know and determine which is easier to work with and accomplish the results you are looking for. But above all the surface to which you will apply the paint has to be extremely clean, so a soapy wash in warm water will do the trick. You might have to thin the paint especially if you will brush the paint on. This will minimize brush marks. Once painted and satisfied with your work let it thoroughly dry before you apply a clear coat to protect your work. Web-site that discusses build ups of resin figures is a great source for information and tips. Good luck and I look forward to seeing your ‘Twisted Santa’.

Acrylics paint are the way to go, I use Model Maser Aryl, they are the best.

you can get cheap 2 oz bottles of acrylic paint that work fine. I usually get mine at Michaels, but any similar craft store will probably have them. They range from .50 - $1 a bottle.

Model Masters Acryl
Tamiya Acrylic for plastic
Citadel "games workshop"

those are the three main ones I use, they're high end.. you get a small bottle 1/2 oz. for about $2-$3

The others like Apple Barrel paints you can get at walmart's craft section, or ones like it at Michaels or Hobby Lobby for about $.75 to $1 for a 2oz bottle..

I've had good luck with both paints but prefer the smoothness of the first 3, sometimes the "cheap" ones fell just like that.. cheap, wattery and sometimes a little too bubbly for me.

Hope that helps..

OH.. and get a sealer.. Testers Dull coat works well, but also check Tamiya's and Krylon.. you do this when the figure is completely dried and most the times you have to move the joints while it's drying(at least I do, but I mainly customize GI Joes that have a lot of joints)...

They come in a spray can, so you'd want to spray a part of the body, move the joint enough for it to dry and the set it down for a bit, then spray another part... dont rush it.. or it'll get too thick, and look like crap...

Thanks All!
I really Appreciate the advice!

I'll probably start with blood splattering the elves! Santa/ Zeus is my first attempted repaint on a figure, Ive only done minor stuff with heroclix before so im hoping it wont come out too bad
