The Air Force pilot is badass! Seriously, aside from a c0ckpit scene, that's a perfect way to sculpt him. He has the swagger/pose that fighter pilots have.
I'm glad he doesn't have patches, and I hope he still is without come next April. There are plenty of Ace Combat squadron patches and flags that I want to put on him, though I'll probably start with the Wardogs or Razgriz.

Joe, Jon, Ben, Mark, can we get studio photos of units together? There was a promo/feature pic of the Series 1 Army Ranger and ADI paired up in a desert setting. Can we get similarly themed pics for the 2 arctic soldiers, the 2 boarding SEALs, the ghille-suit sniper/spotter team, etc?

I'm glad someone else said this first. :D
I'm in agreement with everyone else that this series looks really nice, but the Arctic Ops trooper seems somewhat like double-dipping. Is the line in trouble and Mac Toys is grabbing at previous molds to make minor mods for insertion into future series to save money? I doubt the line is in trouble, what with the expanded Military plans for 2008, but one never knows.
Oh, and is anyone else a little weirded out by the fact that Todd has a tiny Spawn sigil on the Helicopter Gunner's helmet in Series 6? I don't know if anyone else can see that in the pics on the website, but I've seen the packaged figure in person, and the symbol is there.
To me, that's where hubris becomes too much. I know the military doesn't sanction these figures, but putting your own symbol on the helmet of a US soldier?! To that I say, stop the madness!

The halo jumper is awesome. The arctic ops is a little underwhelming, should have been an arctic sniper instead. Top Gun is not my cup o' tea. The night ops looks fat for some reason, and I'd rather he be in a fighting pose, but planting a mine is cool so I'll probably pick him up.

Well, they do reuse the molds for a lot of stuff in the military line, like guns and pockets and backpacks and other things of that nature. In the end the arctic ranger is more a rehash of creativity than a rehash of figure molds, though.

It makes total sense to reuse those things, considering the are the same thing on different people. There's no point in sculpting a new M4 (or whatever they use) for each figure, or a different backpack when they all use the same backpack.
Stygian

I hear you, Peter. Whether or not they're re-using old molds for new soldiers is, I guess, not really the issue. The older Arctic Trooper and Series 7 Trooper just look alike, and that's all. No need to pick at each other over it.
I don't know how many of you are Arizona residents, but I decided to check out the McFarlane Glendale store in the West Valley. Well layed out, helpful staff, lots of product (new and older), and decent prices. I managed to find Series 4 Military right alongside Series 5 and picked up an Army Special Forces Operator, which I'd missed when they originally hit pegs.
It does bug me slightly that the Military figures have gone up several bucks over the past year, as I remember paying $9.99 at the Spawn Store in 2006. Oh well, inflation I guess.
Getting back to Series 7; the two pictured above (the Halo Jumper and Special Forces guy) are probably the best of the bunch, and definite purchases in 2008!

I hope I can say this in time to get the figure fixed before production...the AF HALO fig looks great BUT his weapon is on BACKWARDS. The magazine and pistol grip should be secured UNDER the AR2 pouch, the muzzle should be in front of the leg and the but stock should be behind the shoulder and secured to the MC-4 rig by a cord (80lb breaker cord to be exact). Also the O2 hose should be rubber banded to the chest strap to prevent the hose getting in the way of the ripcord, and there is an O2 fitting block on the right main lift web the O2 hose should attach to, you have the attaching point of the hose lose and flying in the air. If you look at the pic below (for those with sigs turned off) or in my sig you will see what the rifle should look like (that O2 mask is a different design than the one used by McFarlane so don't take to much stock in it). I can provide pics of the proper O2 fitting if need be. I point these out not to be nit picky but to ensure accuracy, anyone who knows about MFF will spot these deficiencies immediately and credibility will be lost. Thank you for reading.

BTW, I just want to mention that- to Mac Toys credit- and the benefit of we Military series fans, many of the Military figures we've asked for on this very Messageboard have shown up throughout the various series- thankfully I can think of two specifically, although there have been more- (Special Forces Operator with beard, Medic with full gear). Also, when we asked for WWII and other military conflict era soldiers Mac Toys heard us and are making those also! In other words, I think we as fans owe a huge debt of gratitude to McFarlane for not only listening to the fans, but actually implementing their requests.
One might think that implementing fan requests is a no brainer, but I'm amazed how often that doesn't happen. McFarlane deserves high praises indeed for not only putting out one of the best "action figure" series ever, but making sure it's not all about what Mac Toys wants, but is instead what fans have been asking.
That said, I think it's high time to create a new future Military wave wish list in honor of the impending holidays. Once we have enough soldiers listed I (or whoever gets to it first) will create a Poll. So please, start listing any that haven't shown up yet, or maybe have but you'd like to see a variation on the theme. I know there's got be at least a few that we haven't seen yet.

Yeah I'm gonna recommend the very same site, militaryphotos.net. It's the best.
Talking about the SOF operator with beard, I like very much his pose, standing determined, but the way he's holding the rifle is like Chunk Norris's Delta Force. Being a modern professional, they seldom try to be cool by pointing a M4 to the sky.

Thank you both for the military photos site link!! I remember that one from several years ago (when I posted a similiar request), but had lost the link for some reason. Nice to see it again. :)
Also, I thought about it yesterday and I think I'm beginning to agree that McFarlane probably IS going to move on to the WWII era soldiers until further notice, leaving the modern military genre to rest for awhile (darn it). I wish the two could run concurrently (modern with any other era), but I guess flooding the market isn't prudent.

I certainly agree that McFarlane has the position wrong, and that the butt stock should be behind the shoulder, but I have found a few other pics of jumpers with the barrel pointing straight back along the jumper's side. I don't know what country the pic I posted is from, though I figured their procedure could be similar to ours considering the guy is using an m4. Basically I don't think the pic is wrong, per se, if it's not American.
Also, I uncovered something interesting while googling this subject:

I don't mean to mislead ANYBODY into beliving that is me. That picture is a **** (Richard) Kramer that I bought from Ranger Joes, but all the metal wings an cards below are mine that my girlfriend had framed for me. The reason you want the magazine back is to hold it in place and keep it protected from any loose equipment straps getting caught up on it. The "other" pic depicts the weapon on the jumper's right side, in America we don't want the weapon there because that is where the main ripcord handle is and you definitely don't want anything there.

Very thought provoking discussion regarding the accuracy of the HALO figure. And here I just thought he was cool looking! :o
I wonder how accurate McFarlane really cares to be? He doesn't really answer to the US Military as far as any kind of uniform or weapon positioning accuracy is concerned, and has taken heat form purists before, yet the line keep chugging along with nary a bump in the road. Honestly, I feel that's the best way to go- make them as accurate as you can to satisfy the purists, but also leave room for creative license and slight interpretation where feasible and appropriate.

I wish they'd cut down on the cartoony Spawn lines and invest that time and energy into the military line. It sucks they've dropped the lineup to 4, but they did that in order to expand into WWII I suppose.
I really want to see the modern military line continue alongside WWII (my favorite of all war periods) and expand to other countries. I'd also like McF to take advantage of the magnitude of different weapons/configurations in the real world, which they already do to great effect.
Also, for the sake of keeping up with the times, McF should start putting Eotech holographic sights on some of the weapons. Eotech is quickly becoming a favorite of allied forces in the Middle East. And for the sake of accuracy, if McF continues to put out SEAL and Force Recon figures, they should carry the HK SOCOM and 1911 pistols, respectively. And we NEED more SNIPERS!! I hate sounding like a broken record but TMP needs to make a TACP figure. We've been in every conflict since the Korean War. Calling in air strikes for the Army. So why not do us some justice and produce a figure of us. And please don't make it look like that crappy CCT figure either, it looked more like some Security Forces ****** then anything else.

After looking at those Sniper pics, I can see how cool an Artic team Sniper might be! After all, once the SF arctic soldier is released in Series 7 we'll have two Arctic based guys, so all we'll need is one or two more to make a nice Arctic Ops team!

Yeah, it would be cool:D A sniper team in the snow, maybe with some low scrub bushes or a fallen tree..maybe something like this:

But with 3d suits like this

It might still be early, but has anyone had a sighting yet?

I usually bypass stores like Kaybee, TRU, etc. in favor of the Spawn Store itself- as it's so damned close. They say they won't be getting theirs until later in the month, so personally I'm gonna wait for that.
Sorry, I guess that doesn't really answer your question, does it? :o

Close enough; word from the top saying to wait is undoubtedly better than wasting gas going from store to store...I'll probably just order them from the Spawn Store anyway, seeing as the heli gunner is already pre-sold out at most places online and scalpers will grab them the moment they're placed on shelves:rolleyes:

I saw 2 of those Heli gunners and was tempted to buy one. Then it occurred to me. If it isnt a Drill sergeant...I ain't buyin it:D

If McFarlane makes a drill sergeant figure, it should be either Gunnery Sgt. Hartman or Sgt. Slaughter.
