If I have an Xbox, and my friend has an Xbox360 and we both have Xbox Live... could we play against each other on say Halo2 or other Xbox games?

Xbox live is compatible with both systems, as long as both systems can run the same game(i.e. 360 needs to be backwards compatible on a certain game).

Here's the deal... I want to get a PS3... but a couple of my friends just got Xbox360s and they are trying to get me to buy one so we can play online... well, one friend doesn't care much for Halo at all so we wouldn't be playing Halo3 online anyway... the only games I would care to get for 360 would be Gears of War and Halo3... I don't even have an original Xbox. But, I figure why spend $400+ on a system I don't really want just to play 2 games that I won't play that much online anyway... I would rather by a used Xbox for super cheap and be able to grab super cheap games that I could still play online with my friend while still getting the PS3 that I want personally.

I have a Wii and a 360, I haven't touched the Wii in months. I play Gears of War and Halo 3 online. I also enjoy sports games on the 360. I want a PS3 also, butmainly cause I dont have one and for the Blue Ray player.
