hi guys, I finally bought fossil dragon, however i did a very stupid mistake.

I removed the dragon's flame and I broke the flame.DAMNNNNN.

i should have just cut the glued part off from the flame and everything else will come off easily but instead what i did was i tried to pull the fire off so it breaks.

IMHO, it looks better without fire but if i didnt break the fire, i can always display it again with fire anytime i want to.
YOU CAN ALWAYS PUT THE FIRE BACK ON AGAIN after you remove it.

this dragon is a pain. I cant even display the wings easily. The hole on his body wont fit the peg. so all i have to do was put the wings in a certain angle so it can lean a lil bit against his arm. OHHH IT SUCKSS.

IT SHOULD BE the best dragon so far but with all of these problems, i am kind of sad with my purchase.

Anybody breaks the fire when you try to remove it??? or is it just me?? i feel so stupid now.

Mine stays in the box for the same reason.

I don't want to cry whent those beautiful wings lean and bend down to the floor.

woww, it sounds a lil bit too harsh. but i do admit, mcfarlane's figure is kind of fragile.

i remember i broke poacher's staff . when he was holding his staff, i drop him and it is broken.

I thought of removing mine but just haven't decided on it yet...Crowinghorse removed his though and someone else as well posted pics of theirs...all of them said be very careful. I can see breaking the spines off the fire covers, but how did you break the flame itself ?

The wings do eventually go into the pegs and a little superglue will help them stay there... ;) If they still bend too far forward, just use the hot/cold method and heat them up good with either water or hair dryer and one you have them bent the way you want just cool them.

I've only had a couple stubborn figures that I actually wired into place and the heated and cooled and let set for a couple weeks before they stayed.. whew ! lol

you should remove it. Its much better IMO. but its up to you. the fire just looks kind of goofy. i know crowinghorse removed his and his dragon doesnt have any problem with the wings. I am so surprised.

This is what happened. since you havent removed yours, I think i better give you a warning.

okay, if you want to remove it. LOOK AT CERTAIN surface that is glued to fire and just cut it with a scissor. Thats what i did. and the rest of the fire surface will come off easily.

but instead of doing that, I pulled the flame's unglued surface , hoping everything will come off. what happened was I broke some part of the flame. the glued part still attached to the neck. I was so frustrated when it happened. and then i did what i told you to do. Just cut the glued part and the rest just follow to come off (because they are not glued)

i was actually very afraid that i would break the spine too but fortunately it didnt happen.

the spine at the very front of the neck was cut in the end because the flame was embedded into it. I just dont want to risk of breaking its neck for this stupid ****.
But its minor and you almost cant see it.

i dont know how to cool or heat up figures. I suck so bad in customizing figure. and my method seems to work for now. so i am cool. I just lean the wing against its arm. and the pose is actually kind of good.

Thanks , I'll keep that in mind...my Spencers still has a couple of them in-stock..if they go sale I'll pick an extra up and play with it...maybe remove all the armor too.

The heat up cool down bit is an old trick toy collectors have been using forever...pm me if you need any help in the future with it. ;)

actually, i rarely broke mcfarlane figures. but i heard like APU matrix is one of the most fragile figure that ever be made. Thats why mine is still intact on the box.

but other than that, i am okay with mcfarlane so far.

problem that i have with mcfarlane are:
1) some figures have problems with standing up (ex:wor)
2) difficulty of setting up the figures (ex: DAMN FOSSIL DRAGON)

Not really... more of a zombie dragon, since it still has rotting flesh on it.

Although I am trying to talk myself into cutting the membranes off the wings, and just leave the "fingers".

Nice anorectic dragon.

Looks much better without the anomalies (fire and outfit).

woww, he looks pretty sweet without armor. However, i think i will keep mine. He doesnt look way cooler without armor and i dont want to risk breaking his arm or leg.

i think, flame has to be off since it just looks so silly on fossil dragon.

so far, all of my friends said i did a good job by removing the flame since it looks way coolerrrrr

McFarlane uses some of the most brittle plastics ever. I'm afraid just by picking it up that it'll fall apart.

Mine's wings went in perfectly... Too bad they're cut wrong, and the fit in at totally wrong angles... and look ridiculous.
I need to saw the pegs down, rotate and glue... but I just haven't gotten around to it.

Just got mine today. The pegs seem specially designed to prevent the wings from fitting at a sensible angle. I'll have to get to work with boiling water. And the fire's got to go.

Incidentally, I think it looks much better standing fully up on its hind legs than giving hand relief to that stalagmite. Articulation - yay! I suspect it will start to lean after a while though.

I thought someone else might have done that...prob. where I got the idea... lol

I thought of painting the fire and the dragon's eyes a nice Spawn-green... I'm a little surprised he didn't come like that... lol :D

Mine's armor came off pretty easily, I popped off a shoulder pad just posing him...

Hello all-

I'm currently wrestling with my newly-purchased Fossil Dragon as well, and I was wondering if anyone succeeded in coming up with a solution for those screwy wings.

I'm customizing mine, and I got the flame off fine and the claws realigned to my liking (I'm not using the McFarlane base), but those damn wings have me stuck. I wasn't able to get them looking ANYTHING like the proto on the box, but they do sort of resemble this version when assembled: http://www.spawn.com/features/dragons6/fossil.qtvr.html

I really want to get them looking more even with each other without having to cut them at the elbow, pin-joint and resculpt the whole elbow area. Are there any success stories out there?

My wings are being ******ed, too. How do you guys do the heating and cooling thing? I was thinking of doing that myself, but what is your process exactly? I don't want to break it...

Starfig

Yeah, the Fossil Dragon had the most problems I'd seen on a dragon in a while. But those wings, those ******* wings...mine are forever ******ed looking cause the things don't bend at all. Hah. And they were a TOTAL ***** getting in, the pegs are too thick, and the holes they go into are too fragile...it was just insane screwing with this thing. >< So you are not alone.

I've never had any problems with any of the dragons. I have yet to get the fossil dragon though. It looks awesome!

The wings seem to be a continual issue with the line, as much as I ADORE the line...I think that's one thing that'd driven me crazy the most.

mine was broken at the waist INSIDE the sealed package
DOH!
and the (gorgeous but fragile) HYDRA dragon had a severed head and was broken at 3 places INSIDE the package.
Much of this was the fault of UPS (BROWN throws your boxes around)
