View Full Version : Will the Eagles cover the double spread

Hardcore Legend

last I checked, spread was 21 points (someone check that for me if it's changed).

Will they cover DOUBLE the spread, (42 points)?

Doubtful.

they won't SINGLE cover the spread ;)

By that I mean the Patriots won't cover the spread, I think it will be closer than the 22.5 pts I got. :)

Spread was 24.5 last time I checked (on bodog). I put $100 on them, so hopefully they cover. :D

I'm more upset over the non false start call on Brady than the TD by Gafney. Maybe it should of been reviewed but I don't think it would of been overturned. The 1 Cole jumped off on Brady was moved hisshoulders and was moving back before the ball was snapped. All in all, it's more of a game than I expected it to be.

They let Lito Sheppard and Sheldon Brown hang all over Moss... I guess thats the best way to contain Randy. I just know if the Pats hung all over WR's like that it would be 15 yds each time.

If the officials are going to let the DB's hang all over his arms and hold him then they should let him push off a little. Its only fair if you are going to allow contact on one end you allow it on the other. Let them both play or call it both ways.

I like the pressure on Brady, it proves that when you have time almost any QB in the league can find a receiver. Brady is still great, but that is the equalizer.

I watched Moss all through his career at Minnesota and he usually gets away with the little push to separate.

If you throw on every down even the worst defenses will get pressure. Its been bad play calling on the Pats part. They need to mix in the run more and work off play action like they have done all year. The execution isnt the problem its the play calling.

I saw 1 play where Lito was hanging onto Moss and that was only after Moss pushed off to begin w/. They are letting both sides get away w/ it for the most part.I'll be honest, the 1 on the TD didn't look all that bad, though. They let Lito Sheppard and Sheldon Brown hang all over Moss... Will it finally start tonight!?! It's our (the Colts) only hope to hang with the Pats.... a Moss implosion!!! :D

He is furious on the sidelines and dropping balls now. We'll see, if this continues - it will be interesting to see how Brady/Belicheat deal with an unhappy Moss for the first time.

It WILL happen, maybe not this year, maybe not for another 20 games... but it will eventually happen.

It is amazing when thats been going on the whole game and now gets called. Btw it didnt matter as the Pats got a 1st down anyway.

You would have to be a Pats fan to understand. The "illegal contact" rule wasnt called until the Colts cried that the Pats bumped WR's to throw off their timing. Now its always called vs the Pats even when it doesnt exist. On the other hand the Pats rarely ever get that call for them. So it is suprising to see as a Pats fan.

Pats defense really needs to dig in now. This is a very good game which I expected. Didnt think it would be this close but I figured the Eagles would play well. They have a very good defense and plenty of motivation.

As a Pats fan that 24 point spread made me sick. Im sure the Eagles used that as bulletin board material.

I also think the Eagles are a better team with Feeley at QB then with Mcnabb at this point. I just dont think McNabb is healthy enough or trusts that knee enough. Plus he really isnt that accurate of a passer.

The Eagles defense is of great quality. That was never in question. I also agree that the 24 point spread was ridiculous. It probably did motivate the Eagles a lot more. Nonetheless, New England still needs to execute and not downplay the rest of this game like I believe they did when it started.

The Eagles are doing what the Browns did a few weeks a go. They're picking their poison.

In that game, the Browns concentrated on Moss and let Ben Watson be the one to hurt them (107 rec yds., 2 TD's) instead.

Same instance here. Reid took a page out of Crennel's book by taking Moss out of the equation and instead is letting Welker beat them.

Wow... and I guess thats why AJ Feeley is well AJ Feeley... Horrible decision. Thrown at Samuels 3 times he has picked him off twice and should have gotten another. Just dont throw Samuels way. He is a shutdown corner. Other guys have been open all game.

Bad play calling by the eagles as well trying to get it all too soon. Should have milked the clock more. The way the offense was going they didnt need to change the gameplan.

Damn if Pats dont get the 1st down here they will have to punt. Way the Eagles WR's been running free dont really like the idea of them getting another possession.

Westbrook should have fair caught that and saved them some time. No timeouts they wont be able to spike it after a long pass down the field to get into FG range. Hard to get 60-70 yds and get out of bounds.

Exactly... doesnt matter how good a team looks each week... any given Sunday a team can lose.

Patriots played poorly on defense today and the offense may have played its worst game all season. Even with all of that they won the game. So even on its worst game of the year they still found a way to win.

Patriots are a great team and noone can take that away from them. But anybody can beat anybody in the NFL.

James Sanders INT!!! Great game Eagles. Patriots will be learning from this game big time.

I think the remaining opponents will be learning from this game as well; but I'm sure Belichick will have a counterplan.

Scary game though... as a Pats fan I have only been half-watching the past few games because it's generally a blowout... I actually had to stop what I was doing and watch this game!!!

The Pats just keep coming at you, that's why they're the best. It's going to take 60 minutes of football to beat them.

Their defense is very human. If the Eagles could have forced some turn overs, the outcome would be different, but Brady's a tough dude to rattle.

I'm glad my Birds represented, but hats off to the best in the biz.

BTW, to all the girls who whined about NE running up the score- all your team had to do was play defense and score a few points. The Colts and Eagles managed. Dry your eyes.

good game by the Eagles but Feeley usually does good when he starts in the beginning but come a few games down the road and Philly will want Mcnabb back. Like previous comments have stated, Pats play the whole game teams cant let off em or else they run away with it.

I know you are going to be shocked when I say this but this is one of the funnier things I've heard you post. Why change the game plan Bill lol He did the same thing against the Colts. He could punch it in against the Cowboys but against the Colts he was respectful.

Again funny post Goskins.

Exactly what I was thinking. In addition to Belichick's "humble pie", this game will serve as a harsh reminder to the Pats not to become too complacent.

I'd hate to be the Ravens next week.
