I didnt know there was an "unwritten rule" about not bunting after the 7th inning if a guy has a no-hitter going. Actually I cant believe that. Why would a team not do whatever it takes to get on base??

It's a commonly known rule. It's viewed as a cheap way of breaking up the no-no.

The no bunt rule only stands if it isnt a close game if the score is 1-0 then I dont see anyone having a problem

With the never tagging up thats wrong teams wouldnt like it so much if you just stop playing the game.

It just related to not running the score up when your already leading big.

What if it's a 1-0 ballgame?

Questionable. If you bunt to get on, don't be upset if you get drilled in the next inning with no one on and 2 outs.

A 1-0 ballgame with an infield shift on. I'd like to see how that plays out.

Evidently don't yell at a Toronto 3rd baseman while he's trying to catch a pop up.

Exactly what I was thinking. This situation should never have become an unwritten rule.

take out your major stars if you have a lead that the other team has no (or next to no) chance of coming back from

I don't think bunting in a close game where the opposing pitcher is throwing a no-hitter/perfect game is an unwritten rule. You are trying to win the game and if a guy bunting to get the tying or winning run on-base is wrong, then I don't understand it. I don't remember "get the opposing pitcher the perfect game/no-hitter" as a courtesy given in baseball.

I seem to recall a game in the last couple of years where the team with the lead didn't tag up from third on a fly ball and the opposing manager blew up after the game about it. I'd say it's more of an unwritten rule not to go first to third on singles through the infield with a lead than it is not to tag up.

Yep, if I was batting in the 9th against a no-hitter and I thought a bunt would work I'd try it... screw the pitcher. Its my job play hard and try to win the game... not worry about the oponents no-hitter.

No, he was right. If you put it into the net after the whistle, you'll most likely have earned yourself a glove in the face.
Shooting the puck into the other team's net after warmup has been the inspiration behind many o' brawl.

in football.. or soccer..

when someone scores a goal.. the next closest teammate to the goal must follow the ball into the net and kick it in again..

on the bunting thing.. curt schilling i believe had a perfect game in the 8th inning.. when someone on the padres bunted onto base.. it was a 2-0 game.. and the bunt led the padres to bring the go ahead run to the plate.. they lost like 3-1 or something.. the play resulted in the diamondbacks ripping into the padre player who bunted..

Can't touch the Stanley Cup unless you win it.

Can't touch the Campbell or Wales trophy (conference champs).

Don't shave until you're eliminated.

Hockey - don't send your goons out at the end of a game against the other's top line
Football - don't video tape the other teams signals
Baseball - don't ask Barry Bonds stupid questions

No I'm pretty sure he's right "don't shoot the puck at the net at all after a whistle" Because of it I'm always bothered when I see Basketball players shoot or follow through with a layup after a whistle. I always wanna see one of them get jacked up because that's what would happen in Hockey.

it's the truth, after an offside whistle, if you even put the puck close, you're getting a facewash..

Saprykin used to fire one in after warmups all the time here in calgary, it was a thing of his, and on occasion, the opposition would turn the net around so he couldn't :D

I know as a lacrosse goalie whenever anyone shot on me after the whistle or if they cranked it around the neck/chest/stomach area to try and get in my head, I'd ask the defense to hit them extra hard, or do it myself. I assume hockeys the same way

I believe that is for non-players like you or me. Players definitely don't touch unless they win.
