Just wondering.

Since my wife won't "let" me have real guns in the house, and seeing as how I LOVE guns, I was thinking of starting to collect some Airsoft guns for purely display purposes. Set up a deltof with some guns, maybe try and collect "themed" guns from movies or something.

Anyone have any? How easy is it to modify the orange tips? Will they paint well? can you remove them?

Any companies to stay away from? I mean, I see some on Ebay anywhere from .01-$200

Thanks

the tips r usually painted but could be removed with a little bit of patience using paint thinner. as for what companies to stay away from, the list just goes on and on for there are many knock offs out there. I could tell you that tokyo marui is among the best in the airsoft field, each gun is built like a honda. if you have a desired model in mind i could tell you which company has the best bang for the buck

I love Sniper rifles(like in Shooter) and I can't remember the model, but the 9mm automatics? Like in Underworld, what are they?

Tokyo Marui is the best but expensive. I would collect 'em but I'd get shot just as fast as with a real gun. Paintballin' is better to do the whole war games thing.

At a convention I did see a nice Aliens pulse rifle kit that you add to a airsoft Thompson sub-machine gun but 300 for the kit and 300 for the tommy gun, it's a bit pricey.

there are two kinds of sniper rifle, one using gas to project the bbs or bolt action rifles.each have its pros and cons. a gas rifle requires you to fill up the magazine with gas in order for it to shoot where as the bolt action rifle requires you to pull back the bolt with all you mite in order to lock the spring into place. both type offers the same type of realism like that of a real rifle, but bolt action takes more time/strength and gas rifles dont work as well during cold weather. the twin pistols you see in underworld is the HK USP with a compensator. from what i know there isnt a reliable company that makes the pistol, but if you're just gonna use it for display anyway, try the KJ works USP

get a few airsofts, then just start sneaking in the real thing. marriages are all about appearances.

I pondered on the idea of getting a few airsoft replicas. I forgot the name of the company that manufactures it, but there's this really sweet replica of the M4 that can be disassembled, ****ed, and the whole shebang.

I have a Tokyo Mauri AR-15. It came with 2 tips. One painted orange, the other unpainted. Classic Army is another good brand.

With the rise in cost of real ammunition these days, that's not a bad alternative. My son has a Glock one as well that is gas powered. It has the single shot, burst and full auto function. Fun for shooting cats in the back yard.

Nice! I don't know what state you live in and the laws there. But since you own the shop, I am assuming you must have a federal fire arms license. I bet you can get the good stuff for yourself. Is the ammo there just as expensive as it is here in California? Correct me if I am wrong, but it was a nationwide rise in the cost of all ammunition? I usually buy surplus from I guy I know. I just can't stomach paying almost $20 for a box of 20 .45 Auto 185 grain XTP's for my UMP. BTW- How is that D90? I found it a little akward when firing. But I felt the same way about the Famas. I guess I am just used to the M4, AR-15 and the AK.

ive got an FFL as well as a class 3 permit (allowing me full auto, supressed, and all kinds of other trinkets). The ammo prices here went up about 25% this summer here. my daily PMC range shot is still about $7.50 for 50 9mm and $13 for 50 45cal.

the 90 is a perfect close quarters rifle. i prefer it much more over an AR pistol...but dont like it as much as my MP5. how did u fire a P90 in cali? they dont sell them in cali cause they dont meet the SBR laws or capacity laws...

Range rounds are still cheap here as well. But that 25% is about right where we went up to. XTP's being the most affected. The P90 was from a guy that lives out of state, and that is about as far as I will go on that subject. It's not mine, but was fun to fire, just akward feeling. Ah the MP5 is a beautiful thing. I prefer the MP5A2 fixed stock.

not really looking to fire these things, just display them in sort of an "amory."

Is that lame??

Thanks JoeRhyno, but not interested in that model.

I was into it for about half a year. I have a Maruzen P99 NBB and sold my Classic Army M4 RIS to a friend. CA and TM are the best ones, though some of the "knockoff" clones are starting to get really close to the high-end brands.
