Ok, here is my haul for yesterday! Been hunting these bad boys for awhile and managed to snag them all at once! Woot! All very limited and hard to find.

I think it's because of the way they have to market them, I don't think they can outright call them statues so they made it like a model kit you can snap together. Kinda like how Gentle Giant LOTR busts have to have something like a light up feature or a drawer so they aren't just regular busts.

the clonse are nice but they could atleast remolded the clones like they did with the sandtrooper.

has to do with copy right laws, something about that. so to get around it, they made them to snap fit together

Yup, that's it exactly. They don't have the liscence for statues, but they do have the liscence for 'model kits', so they have to sell them in pieces.

Yep, it's another way of making statues or large scale figures even though the license for that type of product has already been sold to another manufacturer. The epitome of creative licensing really.

That's also why the Gentle Giant busts aren't technically just busts, they're sold/classified (for licensing purposes anyway) as either busts with light up features or as bust with hidden ring drawers. In other words they get through a licensing loophole as they are not simply classified just as static sculpted busts, because the rights to create static busts and mini-busts already rest with another manufacturer.

Pretty damn sneaky these lawyers and marketing types, eh?
