A Roger Staubach red-stripe, and a William Thomas surprise fig. Since those series, there hasn't been any new stuff at our TRU.

I actually get to find some chases in our TRU, although they hired a guy recently who seems to know a lot about them and says he has his own collection. But I found the above two after he was hired, so it's anyone's guess whether or not I'll still find them in the future. He may be the reason I haven't seen any new stuff.

I haven't found anything really great at retail...probably the best would be a series 6 Falcons Favre (I actually found 3 of them the same day, but that was when we had a wide variety of different stores that carried them, and I had a day off work so I went on a SP hunting road trip!...................those were the good old days of collecting!)

Yes yo clarify they must be on the peg.
It seems like its all hit or miss fellas, however back in the day of I would say Series 1-5 especially in Football, they truly were chase/varuant figures with one to a case of of that.

when Mcfarlanes first came out, I was till hunting for SLU's went to a local walmart, no slu's but I saw a reg albert pujols series one on the pegs next to what i thought was just an error piece blue emmitt smith because he had no helmet...so, I took the Pujols and bought it. When NFL series 5 came out KB mustve just put out a few cases of them, because there was a 49ers rice, blue brady, dont know if it were snowy or not, and a purple lewis...so, once again, what do I do? grab a reg a train and reg rice and brady and buy them, talk about a few early bonehead moves

I' m almost complete in hockey (chase and regular's), and probably over 50% of my collection is via found chase at retail. Other chase that I have found (hockey chase doubles and football) have been used as trade to fill in the chase gaps in my collection. Have probably left over 50+ chase on the pegs. (mainly baseball and Basketball, but also some hockey)

The best i've found was a MONMC Lakers Wilt sitting on the shelf at Wal-Mart a few hours after the case was unpacked. I quickly got it, brought it to the Spawn.com boards and traded it for one of my personal grails (Astros Nolan Ryan 1)

For me it was never about the value of the figure, just what it meant to me. For example the Bolding surprise, I wanted it. I found it at tru there fore not hunting, no trying for trade, no over paying on ebay. Found it bought it done.

The only good thing that came of it is, I was able to sell my collection at the height of their value and made a huge amount of profit. For instance I sold my black Vick for $185 and a series one clean E. Smith for $175 after only paying $10 at retail. Those are only 2 examples but probably the best I've done as far as value. I did make a lot of profit on my collection though and that includes even those I paid more for on Ebay to add to my collection. I just got lucky and sold them at the right time.

Sad part is right now, I don't care about the profit I made. I just wish I had them all back.:(

I decided to go to a Pittsburgh Pirates game for a bobble head a few years ago(I live two hours away). I decided to leave and hit some stores in the Ross Park mall area.Decided to go to KMart and found a Ray Bourque Bruins NHL series 1 repaint two years after it was released and valued at over $250(at the time). It was the only SP there and I couldnt believe it. Paid 9.99 and then traded it for a No Helmet Urlacher. Thats is one I will never forget...
