View Full Version : Oh Mother of God! "McG" is set to direct Terminator 4!

If this was already discussed, I apologize, but c'mon!
Christian Bale cannot save any movie directed by "McG", the ****** who directed the god awful Charlie's Angels movies. I hope IMDB is joking because if this is true, the Terminator franchise is doomed. A legendary franchise created by James Cameron will now face the humiliation of Cameron Diaz doing the robot dance.

Well its news to me, Hell, I'd feel better if Paul Anderson was directing.

I wouldn't. At least McG can direct action, and not fake genitals.

Unless he is a genius, which he isn't, I can't abide a director who calls himself McG.

I don't see why everyone hates on him so much.
I've never felt compelled to watch any of his movies. I'm not a football fan so "We Are Marshall" doesn't interest me, and I'm not a "Charlie's Angels" fan so those don't interest me either.
I have to ask though, what is wrong with the "Charlie's Angels" movies? From what I've seen they look pretty dumb, but isn't that the point? It's not like someone handed him the script for "Schindler's List" and "Charlie's Angels" was the final product.
You can say what you want about his movies but if they have flaws they don't seem to be directorial. He seems like a competent director, which is more than you can say about Paul WS Anderson.

What a stupid post.
You wonder why everybody hates him so much yet you don't wonder that that might be 'cause you haven't seen Charlie's Angels?
You don't feel compelled to watch any of his movies 'cause he doesn't make anything he's passionate about just souless junk that exists only to turn a profit for the studio and producers that instruct him every step of the way.
How can you say the flaws of the films you haven't seen don't seem to be directorial?
How can you even try to defend a director whose films you've not only not seen but haven't ever even been on your radar?
Next time you try to measure the worth of a director, do something extraordinary and see at least one of his movies.

I somehow doubt the vast majority of people that bash on him have seen his movies either.

the charlie's angels movies are terrible, but it's not totally due to bad direction
he was working with what he had i guess
not that im trying to justify them or anything, but sheep was right, he did action fairly well, and some other scenes were handled well too.
it'd be cool to see what he can do with a decent script/budget/etc

Charlie's Angels was horrible, one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

I have seen his movies. I will bash him as much as I damn well please.
Kinda like that other barely competent hack Brett Ratner.
This is the main reason I'm very unimpressed with the casting of Bale as J.C. (Wow! Check out those initials!)
But, my main reason for hating him is the "McG" thing. It's bloody stupid.

I thought the first Charlie's Angels was pretty fun. The second one much less so. I was a big fan of Fastlane and a bigger fan of Chuck, both of which he exec-produced. But the Terminator franchise seems so much more serious and I've never seen his work in that genre.

Dude, the Charlie's Angels movies were exactly what they were supposed to be: big budget movie versions of a campy, crappy tv show. For fans of the show, those movies were a godsend. While I'm not one to go nuts for those flicks, I'm also not one of those people who are going to bash someone's directing skills when I know that they're at least going to work their ass off for the movie.
There are a lot of directors out there who have made crap movies; but that doesn't make them crap directors. McG doesn't have a massive resume yet, and unfortunately, no, it's not that impressive... but who's to say that T4 isn't going to be the movie that really lets him shine? Why is it so hard to be slightly optimistic about something once in a ****ing while? Why piss over something that hasn't even begun fiming?
Why the **** are people like that? Do you think it's cool to be down on everything, or are you really so narrow-minded that you're going to pre-judge this movie just because McG directed a couple of movies you didn't like? Is it because he calls himself McG?
I'm not a McG fan at this point, but I've got no problem questioning the reasonibg behind bashing someone without giving them a chance.

Anyhow, I'm over it. To be honest, I don't give a **** who's directing T4. It's very rare that a director ruins a film. If you'd told me that McG was WRITING the movie, then I'd be concerned.

Well how about this, T4 is being scripted by the geniuses who wrote T3, Catwoman, and ****ing Mindwarp. Concerned now?

That's my other big problem. There has never been a good movie made without a good script and frankly, these guys couldn't write a decent script if God was their editor and Kubrick came back from the dead to give them notes. They suck. Plain and simple.

i can just see it now...
the terminators and john connor doing crazy wire-work cartwheels on the battlefield while there are slow motion explosion all around them and some prodigy song plays in the background
and then all the sudden some famous actor has a cameo for two seconds
and then some other pop song starts playing
and then the terminators do a choreographed dance
and then another pop song

Wonder if this and the new show will take the entire franchise downhill.
T3 already did that admirably.
All they're doing now is dragging the corpse out of the cooler for a sucker pump.
If it's good, I'll admit it, but I've got no faith in this project.

Because that's exactly how "We Are Marshall" was directed.

I still think it's disrespectful and just plain appalling to hand a legendary sci-fi franchise (created by James Cameron no less) over to a complete trendy hack amateur director like "McG".

They should just call it Terminator with an added name with it, get rid of the numbers, it ended with T2 and anything after that is some other Terminator type of movie, except for the newshow, thats different. But it ended with T2 for me.
