He was not even MENTIONED in the report..... is this vindification? I think so. He used Andro, which was legal at the time.

The man deserves to be in the hall of fame, period..... hands down.

Clemens, Bonds, etc..... they should NOT be in the Hall. McGwire, yes.

This is not a comprehensive list of everybody who is/has/was taking steriods. It is simply what he turned up.

The Mitchell Report has no solid proof. So at this point you can't differentiate between Bonds, McGwire, Clemens, and the others. You can't say put McGwire in and not the others based solely on the report.

Yes I can... in fact I will:

Put McGwire in the Hall and not the others. ;)

So in nearly 2 years of investigation McGwire's name did not come up in any way, shape, or form and he still gets strung up?

The man is a hall of famer.

I guess he's in then :)

After hearing what Mitchell had to say and then Selig this thing was a big waste of time and money. No one cooperated with Mitchell so basically all his information was already out there and he took 20 months to put it all together in one report.

Technically he was mention in the the report multiple times. He just wasn't on the list. And as far as him deserving to be in the hall of fame hands down that is your opinion because in mine with or without the steroid controversy he doesn't deserve to be in the hall all he did was hit homeruns. If Roger Maris isn't in the hall Mcgwire does'nt deserve to be in.

just cause he hit alot of homeruns, he deserves to be in the hall of fame????

So why do you say McGwire gets in, but not Clemens or Bonds? What did he do that they didn't, besides damage his reputation at the hearings a few years ago?

This list is not THE LIST of every single player in baseball who used performance enhancing drugs. It's basically a list of clients ONE supplier had. It doesn't mean everybody who isn't on the list was clean the whole time. It probably isn't even 10% of the players who have been involved with steroids and HGH

That speaks volumes.

If Roger Maris isn't in the hall Mcgwire does'nt deserve to be in.

In fairness:

Mark McGwire 583 HRs > Roger Maris 275 HRs.

I agree, it is not the end-all be-all of steroids use in baseball, just a smaller percentage.

McGwire screwed his credibility when he refused to testify in my opinion. I had always been a big fan of the guy until he made that mistake.

Was rookie of the year in 87, broke the single season HR record for rookies with 49, won a world series, broke Maris single season HR record, helped bring baseball back from the 94 strike...... and he did not lie, Bonds and Clemens did.

If Bonds and Clemens get in, McGwire should as well. With what looks like more than 50% of the players in the 80's and 90's using some form of performance enhancer, this shows how Bonds, McGwire, Clemens, Sosa, etc were still better than 90% of the players in the league.

I guess then I do have a McGwire man crush.... he was an awesome hitter, a pure power hitter from his days in college, and an all around good guy. Based on what the rest of his peers were doing at the time, he is a HOFer.

You've got to be kidding me, do you think this is a small feat or something?

The guy took andro before it was illegal, so therefore it ISN'T cheating. I think he deserves to get into the hall, because while it may have been performance enhancing there were no rules about it, and the guy had talent before he started taking it anyway, but say what you will about him, I guess 583 isn't HOF worthy considering hitting the 500 HR mark was almost a guaranteed HOF bid.

If you don't want to let him into the HOF then you should dismiss anyone who ever took uppers in the 60's and 70's because they took them before the MLB considered them illegal.
