Lets see, 9 wins in a row.
And those are legit wins. not against crap teams like minnesota or seattle, but teams with winning records
Utah (twice)
Denver (IN DENVER)
New Orleans
Golden State
Toronto
and when you look at the rankings on ESPN, they have the Blazers at #14 (NBA.com power rankings), #15 (Hollinger), #10 (Stein).
And the PER rankings have Brandon Roy at #31?
Blazers are on a tear, and if they get past Denver on friday, they could be winning for a long time, next games are
Home vs Seattle
Home vs Minnesota
Home vs Philly
@ Utah
@ Minny
@ Chicago
the only game on there that scares me, is going back to Utah again.
I just think with all the gloom and doom and "i told you so's" concerning Oden, its awesome that the team is showing what "team" basketball can do

Yup. They're good. They prolly gonna be fighting for the 8 spot on the West. (Warriors already locked up the 7th):D;)

the blazers are 14-12 while playing the 5th hardest schedule so far in the NBA this year

Blazers are definitely a team on the rise. It will be scary to see how good they'll be in a couple of years.

It's tough to get excited about any NBA team 25, 26 games into the season considering how meaningless most of the season is but I agree, the Blazers deserve some credit here. They're a point guard away from being a team that can contend for the playoffs every year granted that they can keep most of their core together (Roy, Aldridge, Outlaw, etc.) plus it should be interesting to see how Oden fits in here when he returns next season.

normally, I would agree. but when all you hear leading up to the season is how bad you are going to be, it does feel good to kind of rub the 'experts' nose in it

Well, they'd been absolutely horrendous over the last three years (Their best season over that period was last year's record of 32-50) so you can't really blame the experts for predicting that their struggles would continue, plus Oden missing the entire season with micro fracture surgery certainly made that a much easier prediction to make. Plus, again, they're only 26 games into the season, too early to reach that conclusion that they're turning it around, they've had a very nice start to the season and that's about it, you can't really blow it out of proportion.

They will get the publicity either when...
Greg Oden is playing
or
When a major sports news channel opens up on the west coast to creat the West Coast Bias to combat the East Coast Bias going on now.

Gotta give props to the Blazers.
This team is going to be scary in a couple of years.

they're scary now!! 5 of their wins during this win streak came without Lamarcus Aldridge in the lineup

ten wins in a row. hlaf game out of first. And now onto Xmas day against Seattle

10 wins in a row means they were 5-12. They may be 2nd in their division, but they are 8th in the West overall (15th in the whole league) even after this big winning streak. Impressive, but not a huge story YET.

This streak is starting to get scary, I mean it completely came out of left field, this is like when the Tampa Bay Rays won like 12 games in a row and 30 games out of 40 in 2004.

To respond to the subject's question:
When they move east! jk
Seriously, I think the NBA ( &other medias ala ESPN,) didn't anticipate this or they would've marketed B. Roy at the beginning of the season. Heck, have the owner have B. Roy be the Microsoft spokesman for their products!

the only thing that had me worried was, alot of the games were come from behind, grind it out, wins in the 4th quarter. eventually, thats going to bite you in the butt. I wanted to see a couple of blow outs. Tonites game was a win by 25 points, they put the clamps down in the 4th again, holding Philly to 9 pts. now, its onto Utah, Minny, and Chicago

With those upcoming games, I see the streak going to 16. Looks like they're up to number 7 in the power rankings. I just don't see them getting into the top 5 though with the Spurs, Mavericks, Suns, Celtics and Pistons up there.

I assume you meant the game was on national TV? Chicago certainly isn't a national audience for the Bulls anymore. :p

B-Roy is playing insane right now and Aldridge is looking a lot more fiery this year. The thing about Roy is, he's not terribly athletic, he just plain knows how to play the game.
Unless the Rockets pull themselves together, the Blazers are gonna take our spot in the playoffs.

I wouldnt say he isnt atheletic. I would say he isnt flashy. no dunks or behind the back passes. he just gets the job done, and before you know it he has 20 pts and 8 assists.
Its insane, the announcers said he isnt even in the top ten of west guards in the all star voting. thats just pathetic

I could care less about publicity with this team. They've done enough to get the city back on board. They just need to get rid of Darius Miles for a bag of pucks ASAP. He's still pulling stupid **** that doesn't make the newspapers.
