I like Sideshow's outfit better and the head is good enough for me, the Sideshow one also has a load of accesories. Medicom stuff always feels over priced to me. They have a better body in general (if a bit small) but I'd rather buy Sideshow and swap the body with a Hot Toys body or something.
Here's my Maul with a Hot Toys body and swapped boots (to make use of ankle articulation):

What do you mean? I bought Maul and then a nude Hot Toys body to swap. The HT bodies are like $25. I swap all my Sideshow figures. I HATE Sideshow bodies.

I would go with the SS Maul if money is a concern.

Ohhhh...i never knew that. not once have I ever even pondered buying a HT figure. I thought you meant nuying both Mauls and switching parts.

Yeah, that wouldn't work at all due to the scale difference. Hot Toys is a much better value for the money versus Medicom.
I mean this comes with TWO amazing headsculpts, more accesories than you could want an amazing body (which is in scale with most other 1/6 stuff) and an excelent and complex outfit all for $130

This on the other hand is $150 comes with one headsculpt some extra hands and that's about it. The medicom body is great, but smaller than it should be and I like Sideshow's outfit better.

Was it just a simple body swap dedguy? Or was there a little more to it?

You have to glue the Hot Toys head connector into the Sideshow head and drill out the holes in the hands to fit the larger Hot Toys wrist pegs. Other than that though it's just a simple swap.

I'd recommend the Medi Maul ONLY if you've got any other Medicom Star Wars figs... or unless it's the only 1/6 Star Wars figure you're going to get. Otherwise, the Medi SW figs are underscaled because a few years back Medicom didn't know what the hell they were doing... and they've had to keep the scale for the SW figs to keep consistency, while pretty much all their other figs have been scaled up properly.
You're looking at about $60 for the Sideshow Maul... and that's just based on what I paid. They could honestly be going for a little less on the 'Bay. I haven't really checked up on it. However, if you wanna get the Medi Maul, you're looking at about $150 or more, the latter definitely being the case if you wait out too long.
I'd suggest the SS Maul if you're tight on money or don't wanna spend that much. But if you have the dough to spend and just want to display him by himself... then you should, in all honesty, grab the Medicom Darth Maul.

That's awesome.
The boots actually work pretty well. Does Hot Toys make a "short body"? I might try and do something like this. At the very least I may try and replace the boots. I just hate the crap ones that come with the SS Maul.
Have you seen the Barrack Sergeant body? That one would work real nice for a Maul figure that requires some really dynamic action poses. I've always thought about buying that body but I kind of suck at the whole customizing thing. I can paint fairly well, but other than that I'm rubbish.

Oh and just an FYI something that will make any 1/6 scale figure look better... soak it in water with the clothes on. When it dries the clothes will hang FAR more naturally. All my figures have had the water treatment.

Maybe an unnecessary question but; hot or cold water?

I think the medi maul has a better looking head sculpt, meaner looking, but for the price, might not be worth it if you dno't care about it that much.

Cold works fine

I agree about the head, but the scale, outfit, and price all make it totally not worth it to me.
