Not McFarlane's line... the one in New York. Who should get in this year?

The only sure thing is Goose Gossage. Most of the field is returning from last year in which only Ripken and Gwynn got in, so I'm sure this will be another small class. Maybe Jim Rice, Andre Dawson and Tim Raines will get in there this year also.

Only Jim Rice but he has no hope because of the racist Boston sports reporters. Jim Rice was awesome but he did'nt cowtow to the local media, and who can blame him the Boston Sports Media is horribly negative against their own teams.

IMO McGwire is the only one in this years class who should be a sure-fire Hall of Famer. And before everyone starts with the whole steroid thing, honestly we have no idea who did and didn't use steroids, McGwire, Bonds, Clemens, etc shouldn't be at fault for something that the majority of the league was probably doing. The only person you can blame is Bud Selig for not taking care of the issue sooner. Every era has had their advantages... Maris with the extra 8 games; Aaron played in a notoriously hitter-friendly ballpark and had 3000 more at bats than Ruth; the dimensions of the field, the size of the ball, etc, have all changed over the years; it just so happens that steroids were this generation's "advantage", and I guarantee in 10-15 years steroids won't be as big of a deal as people are making them out to be.

None of them. I want the best of the best, not just good players....

I agree with that sentiment, of having the best of the best. Unfortunately it appears that both MLB and the NFL HOF voters put in at times only good players because maybe they feel that they have to put somebody in. If only they could agree that it's not a bad thing that in some years nobody gets in.

Wow, according to the poll no one is even close to getting in.

Goose almost made it in last year, I'd hope he could make it this year.

Early counts (I think they said they had knew about 10% of the ballots) had Gossage at something ridiculous like 95%, then I remember Rice and Blyleven both around 68% or something like that. McGwire was only ~20% or 30%

Dale Murphy is still robbed of being in the Hall of Fame. He was one of the best players of his time and definitely a top 5 player of the 1980s decade.
