Yesterday started off just like any other day, actually it ended pretty darn good before it started. I worked till about 3am Thursday night (Friday morning), and stopped in my local Walmart. They have went to 24 hours now, so I thought I'd grab a loaf of bread, and check out the toy section. Well, I walked into at least 10+ cases of NHL Legends 6 that was just freshly stocked. There were 5 Canuck Neely's, and five white Bowers just staring at me. Grabbed up the Bower's one for me, and 4 for some boardie friends who may be looking for one, and I grabbed one Neely for another boardie who is a hugecanucks fan! :D It was hard to leave the other 4 Neely's, but I managed to get through it. I also grabbed a Bower reg for myself. I went home, and went to bed. All is great, so far. :) I wake up at the crack of 2pm :o, go down stairs to check my emails, and I see I have one from my good friend Hersh Borenstein, who is a fellow board member, as well as the president of Frozen Pond, a hockey based memorabilia store here in Toronto. He is also Johnny Bower's agent. Well not really, but bare with me, it was an inside joke. :o Anyways, the email said Hey Troybert when are you gonna drop by the store I have a present for you (Hersh calls me Troybert)? :p I replied back that I was actually dropping in tonight (Friday) to pick up a signed Jaromir Jagr base for boardie Mikey1. I then called the store to make sure they had the Jagr ready for me as it is a 45 minute drive, and I wanted to be sure. I spoke to Hersh on the phone, and he again told me to come get the present he had for me. So I make the drive to Frozen Pond, not having any idea what he had for me. I thought seeing he was at the Winter Classic game the other day in Buffalo, maybe a program, or souvenir puck, but neither of those were the right guess. It was way better than that. I will keep you in suspense until the second post of this thread. :p

Yes, you are seeing correctly. It is a signed, and numbered Johnny Bower figure pulled from a fresh case by the man himself Todd Mcfarlane. It is numbered 7/10. The figure is still factory sealed, and was pulled from a case direct from the supplier Grosner. I was blown away that Hersh would be so generous, and give me such an awesome surprise. He said he couldn't think of anyone else who would appreciate it more than me, which is why I was picked. Thanks so much to my dear friend Hersh. You are truly one of the best people I know, and I will always treasure this one. ;)
On a side note, as difficult as this signed figure would be to pull from all the cases that are produced, Frozen Pond pulled a 2nd signed Bower out of 10, as well as a signed Howe out of 10, so 3 rare figures out of their cases. Toronto area dealers check your figures when they arrive. There may be more in the GTA area.

He's rewarding someone who has been a great friend of his store and a great asset to the board.
Congrats. You deserve it and thanks for helping me out on Giguerre, Modano and now Jagr.

Thanks Mike! I'll package up your Jagr base, and get it out ASAP. It probably won't leave till Monday, as I don't think there is any mail on the weekends.

dude that's awesome! I hate hockey but recognize a super-rare cool piece when I see one. Nice grab! I'm hoping for one of the dragons ones from Todd. But the chances are slim. I'd say a lot of the dragon ones will be opened by accident because most people won't realize what they have till it's opened. He even signed some on the wings etc.

my personal experience has been the signature will only degrade a figure's value

not when it comes that way from the company, also it being a 1 of 10 makes it more sought after..hopefully he'll do some football and basketball that way too, especially if they get player sigs on them

Forgive me if this is a newbie question. Ive been to several stores and according to my math, Ive noticed most if not all stores are getting no variants per case from this series. Ive also seen on this board many Canadian boardies are find numerous variant figs. If this is because the NHL is more popular in Canada that is fantasitc. Is that whats going on? I've never seen so many variant less cases before thats why I ask.

So was it only the regs that Todd signed and not any of the chase figures???

I think he signed 10 of each of the 4 inserts, so I'd assume they'd more than likely all be the regs. No chase have been found so far, of the 5 pulled.
