OMG!
"As the film rolls, Rob is talking to Beth (I have no idea what they are talking about as I wasn't paying attention to the dialogue), with the ocean as the backdrop. As soon my answer became apparent, I was pointing at the screen with glee. I left the film feeling fulfilled".
I can't believe I missed that!
Please PM me with what happened/what you saw!? I was distracted by Rob and Beth, so I wasn't paying attention to the background. I HAVE to know where this thing came from. :(
Furthermore, that review was 100% accurate IMO.
EDIT:
Nevermind.

I thought the movie was okay. I didn't leave the theater fulfilled or unfulfilled. I think you didn't need to film it as if someone was carrying a camera and you still could get the same effect of being part of the action. The landing of the troops in Saving Private Ryan was more engaging and didn't leave you nauseated. I don't need to seat to through it again.

Agreed!
I thought the movie was OKAY at best. At the end I wasn't upset about people's deaths but I wasn't pissed that I wasted time watching it (unlike Rollerball, 2002). I really didn't think the "film style" (first person perspective) was as amazing as everyone was making out to be, and as you already said, another director (who knows how to shoot a film) could have made the film just as intense in 3rd person perspective.
But then again I did have a bad headache going into "Cloverfield" and had NO clue the whole film was shot in first person with all the shakin'.
But I'll admit that it was a different and slightly new take on film making, and it as hell of a lot more innovative than this recycled Hollywood crap we get month after month (another stupid Will Farrell movie! Semi Pro, w t f?)
Cloverfield: one time film for me.
Any ideas on the significance of the film title?

Cloverfield refers to the field formerly known as Central Park...Clovers are
usually prone to grow at places after bombing. Thus the term "Clover" and "field" referring to park.

To keep the movie a secret, the project was given the codename “Cloverfield,” after a street near Abrams’ office. The filmmakers had planned to release the movie as Greyshot, the name of a key Central Park location. But the temporary title spread through the internet so quickly that crew decided to keep it.

I see, thanks for clearing that up, still getting used to certain cultural/historical references to do with the US culture/history (I'm from Europe)

... well, can't say I originally agreed with that view, but after everyone making such a fuss about how GREAT this FILM is, I have to say, it's craptacular. :D
