Just a rumor right now. It would be nice if this go's down.

From www.realfootball365.com

It appears wide receiver Chad Johnson is willing to sit out an entire season if he's forced to stay with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2008. Luckily, even playing for the Oakland Raiders beats sitting out.

In fact, it looks like Ocho Cinco would have no problem playing with the silver and black next season.

On ESPN's "Jim Rome is Burning" last week, Raiders linebacker Kirk Morrison was sent to Radio Row to perform pre-Super Bowl XLII interviews. One of the first guests Morrison spoke with was the animated Johnson.

Morrison attempted to kindly initiate a conversation by asking, "What brings you out here?" By the time the 25-year-old linebacker got to the "out here" part, Johnson was already chiming in.

"Yes, I will come to the Raiders," the four-time Pro Bowl wideout said. "Yo, Al (Davis), come get me. I don't play defense, but I'm telling you: I can turn the black hole white."

Whether Johnson is completely serious in his request is still up in the air. After the statement, Morrison shared a laugh with the 29-year-old pass catcher before pursuing other interviews. One thing is for sure, however: Johnson doesn't want to play for the Bengals anymore.

"I'm not allowed to say [whether or not I'm happy]. I get the blame, the so-called best player. I'm the problem," Johnson commented on Rome's nationally syndicated radio show last week. "Someone in-house is spreading this. Maybe they want me to quiet down [and] stop being me. That is not going to happen. I can't function that way. I tried it. It sucked. There was no excitement."

For the disgruntled Johnson, though, getting his way won't be such an easy thing.

The Miami native signed a $35.5 million extension in April of 2006, which keeps him under contract with Cincinnati through the 2011 campaign.

Lewis has already publicly stated that the team won't trade No. 85. For that reason, threatening to sit out the entire '08 season to force a trade isn't so outlandish.

If there's one thing Davis isn't afraid to do, it's pursue big names.

Davis executed a trade with the Minnesota Vikings in February of 2005 for wideout Randy Moss. Davis gave up young linebacker Napoleon Harris and the seventh overall pick in that year's draft. They got Moss, his baggage and his $7.25 million base salary in exchange.

The season before heading to Oakland, Moss had caught just 49 passes for 767 yards. Johnson nearly doubled those totals in 2007.

So "come get me," Johnson tells the 78-year-old Davis.

i also heard he wants to play for the pats. as with randy moss when he was traded, oakland would seem to be the place for ocho cinco's personality and antics. but could he be like moss, shut his mouth, tone it all down, and just go out there and quietly put together a great season with a true contender?

He told a radio station that he would also like to play for the Dolphins. He also asked T.Spikes what it would take to get him in Philly. At this point, Johnson is just trying to drum up as much interest around the league as possible to get out of Cincy.

Randy Moss. I know it's only 1 year but it's obvious he has a lot of football left in the tank.Seriously.

I know. It was a joke (see my sig.).

But other than him, can you really name anyone else?

On the other end of the spectrum, I can name plenty of players that retired as a Raider.

He's staying put.

Randy Moss's career DID die in Oakland . . . don't confuse it with his career's revitalization in New England.

OK, I'm confused. Isn't Ocho Cinco one of the top three WR in the league? Isn't he the only Bengal that hasn't been arrested in the past year (maybe him and the punter, but I'm not sure about the punter). He just turned 30 so he still has quite a few years left in him. I never heard him blast him team or QB like TO or take 2 years off like Moss. I am definitely not a Bengals fan, but I don't see teams adjusting their defensive schemes to compensate for other players like they have to for him. Now everyone is saying the Raiders and Bengals would be better without him???? This isn't Pacman Jones we are talking about here. If he leaves the Bengals they don't win 5 games next year. Of course if he went to the Raiders it wouldn't make any difference for them, players go there to die not prosper. I think the line would/should be very long with teams trying to acquire his services.

Balco Scientist
02-01-2008, 04:40 PM
Yeah this will just stay a rumor , cause if he goes there he will do the same thing Randy Moss did there which is nothing. Untill they fix the offensive line problems there the offense will continue to have problems , doesn't matter who you have playing wideout there . The only thing bringing chad there will help with is Raiders jersey sales not the team.

So then why would 85 even entertain the mere thought of playing in Oakland in the middle of his prime? It makes no sense at all.

I guess the Raiders didn't learn with Moss.

It doesn't say anything about the Raiders being interested. Besides, just because Randy Moss quits on a team when things aren't going well, doesn't mean Johnson would.

He doesn't care about his uniform, he cares about his paycheck. He is testing the waters to see if anyone will overpay for him and I don't think anyone will. I expect him to be in Cincy next year.

But isnt that what he is doing right now? Quitting on his team when things are not going well, by asking for a trade.

I dont think Ocho Cinco will go anywhere. I dont think the Bengals are comfortable having Chris Henry as the #2 WR there with his legal history. They cant afford to let CJ go.

If they do move him dont count out the Patriots. Ocho and Jedi Bill are actually good friends. They get along very well. Ocho actually went up to Bill during the game this year and told him to "get me out of here."

So if the Patriots let Donte Stallworth go they could opt to go after CJ if he is willing to take a paycut like Moss did to win. Question is will CJ (who is far more outspoken then Moss ever has been) calm down and fit in with the Patriot way. To look at past guys with histories one would think he could. They have so many leaders in the lockerroom who have done more in the league he would conform.

If Chad Johnson isnt happy in Cincy with Carson Palmer as the QB then he would be miserable in Washington with Jason Campbell as QB.

HAHAH that's freaking gold, buddy!

Really though the Raiders have no body to trade. They have a pretty good defense so I don't see them trading any of those guys soon. Who knows though. Jerry Porter, Morrison, and 1st round pick???

Hey, let me start some more rumors for y'all. Check my signature, lol.

He'd love Miami as a city. Parcells might whoop his ass though.

Minnesota desperately needs a WR, and they have trade bait. Randy Moss still managed to garner tons of attention up there.

Jacksonville. Are you kidding me? We need him the most out here. We'd become instant contenders with a deep threat.

New Orleans could really recover from last year with him catching balls. Colston and Johnson. MMM MMM GOOODD!

Chad's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said today that Chad has no intentions of sitting out the 2008 season, despite Chris Mortensen's report that Johnson has been threatening to do so.

OK, I'm confused. Isn't Ocho Cinco one of the top three WR in the league? Isn't he the only Bengal that hasn't been arrested in the past year (maybe him and the punter, but I'm not sure about the punter). He just turned 30 so he still has quite a few years left in him. Now everyone is saying the Raiders and Bengals would be better without him???? This isn't Pacman Jones we are talking about here.

This is a good point. It's the point I made when Bengals fans and the media had turned on him this season and blamed him for the problems. Chad is vocal and animated, but he produces. Every single year he produces. Even Moss has had two sub-1000 yard seasons, where as Chad Johnson hasn't.

His rookie season he played 12 games and didn't break the 1000-yard mark. He's done it every season since, including leading the AFC in receiving yards four straight seasons, something no one else has ever done. Only two other guys have done it three years in a row.

Chad never misses games, unlike most of the Bengals roster who misses when they stub their toe or break a nail.

He got a raw deal from the press and his own fans, and I don't blame him for being pissed off now. He's a bit too dramatic, though, and he needs to accept the fact he's staying in Cincinnati because the Bengals aren't getting rid of him.
