(I have posted this on all boards to get more exposure)
Todd,
It appears that both Arizona stores will prosper. We the fans hope that expanding the Mcfarlane Company's retail stores beyond the Arizona borders is on the horizon of the very near future. With the many exclusives that are indigenous to those locations, it makes it very difficult to obtain those high demand items. We feel that the fan base, and now household name will positviely support such an expansion which will benefit both the demand and the company's growth.
As you are well aware, there are many demographic areas throughout the Pacific coast, as well as across the nation that can easily support the prosperity of your growth. We understand that you will require locations that have very high foot traffic in a community that the fan base is of equal value. Why not issue a survey utilizing this site asking various questions to find out where you can consider prospective locations based on where your fans are? You could then research the demographics to make an educated decision weather that location will benefit everyone. We understand that it takes time and money for such a project, but your companies did not get where they are by staying idle.
As a fellow District Manager once said at a seminar, "To administer growth, is to raise the expectation, demand results, and step out of your comfort bubble..."
For bordies who support this, please post a response or "bump". "One ant can make a difference, but the whole mound can accomlish goals..." but it begins with that one ant.

Then he is competing against his retail partners. Although the theory is good, I'm not sure its practical, nor will TMP want to expand in this direction. They are a toy manufacturer not a toy store.

This is all it would take. Scattered major locations, "Mall of America", "The Galleria", etc. Stategic locations, not to compete with the retailers who sell his product. Just to make the product available as well as exclusive product accessability. There are steps taken to get product back into retailers that used to sell McFarlane product, but how many retailers have a "good" selection of Mcfarlane product? The following retailers offer Mcfarlane products, but how great is there selection?
1. Toys R Us
2. Spencer's Gifts
3. Fye
4. Suncoast companies (sam goody)
5. KB Toys
6. Walmart
The purchases that companies like Fye, Suncoast, Spencer's, KB Toys make do not give their stores the selection or vaierty of Mcfarlane toy lines that the fan base deserves. To address the issue with competitors, stategic locations in association with the survey results will determine where a store could be placed that will not disrupt the business of other retailers but will satisfy all needs.
Please don't be affraid to respond with your thoughts, feedback is great. This is how ideas grow and unseen issues get addressed.

I live in Dallas, one of the most populated cities in America, and I can't ever find any decent McFarlane products. I go to Toys R Us, Walmart, and Spencer's on a weekly basis, but 99% of the time I come up empty handed because of low stock at these stores. I buy almost all of my McFarlane products online through Amazon or Ebay. I would love a McFarlane store in Dallas, bring it!!!!

I think that the main advantage that you are anticipating is the availability of a larger variety of past product and of exclusives. I don't believe that TMP has enough of that product to supply multiple retail stores. The only way that they could do that is if they started reprinting figures. If they did that, there would be a major uproar from collectors. They have done it in the past with a few select figures and there were complaints. I just don't see this happening.

I would like to see McF stores take a trek towards the east coast.
I think a McF store in the new Washington Nationals ballpark development area would work really well!
Good one. Exactly the idea, strategic locations that will not disrupt sales of other retailers and will be more available to the fan base.

good point. However, consider the new and upcoming exclusives that will be offered. They could also do a study of what sells better at what location and disburse merchandise accordingly. I see your point of the up-roar from collectors, but the true collector of Mcfarlane product will appreciate the availability as opposed to the "collector" who sells.

the LA/Anaheim area needs a TMP store!

A good location in Anaheim would be "The Block". Not too far from Disneyland, high foot traffic no matter what time of day... or night, lots of sales opportunity with the tourists shopping. The diversity of the foot traffic is huge, to include visitors of other countries. Good choice.
Man a mcfarlane store right next to KRSF:eek:. I'd never leave Haight street:p:D
Absolutely!! San Francisco would be a good location, specifically pier 39, near the Oakland Raiders store. Universal Studios City Walk near the Hard Rock Cafe would be a possibility too, although there might be a conflict with Marvel there, but still a possibility none the less.

.
What you are recommending makes no sense financially for TMP. Sure it would be nice for collectors that happen to live by one of the stores, but it would be bad for everyone else. Collectors that weren't around a store would get mad. Online dealers wouldn't appreciate the competition. Retailers wouldn't like the competition either. And, it would be much more expensive for TMP than their current distribution outlets. Additionally, TMP doesn't need retail stores to get rid of most of their exclusives. Most sell pretty quickly. Why spend the extra money?
Also, the "true" collector would be upset. The "true" colector that has faithfully bought product from TMP that dosen't live by one of the stores would be mad that he has to pay more onm Ebay while others are getting exclusives at retail.

The McFarlane Stores are here in Arizona because our home offices are also here. Although this discussion of McFarlane Stores in other markets seems interesting, there are a lot of pros and cons to making that happen. Only time will tell.

Thank you for addressing this, Matt. Now we can get on with our posting without 50 posts in one day from spawnorbust1 about this subject.
