Artist Proof statues ???

What is an artist proof statue? How can you tell if it's an actual artist proof statue. I just recently won one on ebay without realizing it.

An artist proof statue is usually a smaller run of the statue line given out as promo or free items to people involved in the making of the statue or people in the company. Usually there isn't any difference in the statue itself. Usually the statue is marked as an artist proof item in the base and/or certificate and/or numbering on the box.

For instance for a regular run:
x of 5000

For an artist proof:
Artist proof x of 100

I also just snagged two artist proofs without knowing it. I got animated Abe Sapien and Hellboy--both are marked "21/25 a/p". They're not both 21--I just used that number.
