IF you read the information provided on our website concerning international orders:

see INFORMATION> shipping & returns

the shipping that posts to all international orders is an estimate and tends to be on the high side. Once an order is placed we put the order together, weigh it, and charge exact EMI (Express Mail Service) shipping charges if its a medium size order (6 to 12 figures) or Priority Mail International if its a smaller order. So how much better can you get than that:confused:.....EXACT shipping.....we then email you back, within 24 business hours, with your revised total with actual shipping. Im not gonna lie to you though...if you order 1 or 2 figures you aint gonna save much off the posted rates....shipping for a single figure to canada (2.0 lbs or less boxed is tough unless you want it shipped in a zip lock bag) is $17.30 for shipping....2.1 lbs the shipping is $18.60....so unless you find an online store who's owner is sleeping with the postmaster you probably arent gonna get a much better deal than actual shipping;)

everyone is very complimentary....and I thank you...we try and have for years......we have been around for a Coons age as someone so eloquently put it....we opened (retail) in 1989.....i think we went 100% online in 1997?...something like that anyways....and by the way if the order you got for $32 shipped was for 6 of the standard size Halo figures and the 3 vehicles that sounds about right:)

Since they had the Halo figures instock I cancelled my amazon preorder and placed an order with spawntoys.com, within minutes of placing the order I received a phone call and an email about an issue with the order. Once that was resolved I received my fedex tracking number within the hour! Still amazed how quick that went, best online service I've ever had, and was cheaper than amazon. Will definately preorder series 2 from them when availible. And series 3, 4 etc.

now if only my local walmarts would get the blue ones instock..

I ordered a while back, lotsa cool stuff on sale. Shipping was...well, shipping (but I did buy like 10 pounds worth of stuff and I do live in Canada), but was still a great deal :D

If my tax return goes well, I'll be buying a case of Halo figures off the site, I enjoy gettign stuff in the mail, just because it's like Christmas, getting to open a gift wrapped with brown wrapping paper.

...offtopic, but I had to say it and this thread seemed most appropriate

Kim just wondering if you would ship cheaper shipping method? Was double the cost other places charge for the amount i went to checkout. I want to get alot of the sale items which i can care less about the condition on most. But around $21 was a bit high for the ones i did have in there.

As weve stated on several occasions on the message board...indicate in the comments section that you are a boardmember (include boardmember name). We then take the order before we bill it to your credit card and figure out EXACT fed ex home delivery shipping charges.....we then either bill you the exact rate or posted rate whichever is LESS. We also include a copy of the price quote for your order from fed ex so you know we arent padding the cost in any way.....many boardmembers can vouch for this.

We are no longer willing to lose money on shipping costs.......we cant remain in business taking the hit......if package condition isnt a concern indicate that in the comment section as well....if we can keep the shipping box under the dimension weight limit we can probably save you some money on shipping...but dont expect MOC figures when the order arrives.

If somebody else is charging less than us for shipping...take advantage of them..they, obviously, dont check their bills from fed ex or UPS....they wont be in business long unless they do...;)

kim
03-03-2008, 09:41 PM
The other thing to remember is that if your shipping came out to $21 you probably ordered 13 to 15 standard size figures.......if that is the case it requires 2 boxes (if you want them protected properly).....cant do it on one box because of the dim weight costs....which if we shipped in ONE box would cost US more than $21.00.....If you live west of the Mississippi dont expect much of a price break on shipping.......unfortunately, its cost of shipping these days.......if you can find figures you want on sale for the same price we have some of ours on sale for A-N-D pay half the shipping price we are charging tell me where?

Spawntoys is the best. I sent an email the day the Halo figures were announced asking if they were taking preorders and I got a reply basically saying "Not yet but soon! We'll let you know". Low and behold that email came once the pre-order option was on the site.

And when the figures came they were double boxed and had enough air bubble packing to ship a small child comfortably. ;)

Sweet kim i missed that information sorry about that. I was just curious if you shipped other methods since alot of times cheaper going UPS on certain order amount. Alot of places must be losing out even retail stores cause they all alot cheaper. But yet again you use fedex which is expensive. Was just curious if you would be using other shippers in the future. Like my friend just spent $100 plus at bbts for all there 50-75% off sales which his shipping total was around $15 UPS. He bought alot of stuff & weight of all this is huge. Not mocking your site i love the site just very often i might want one item but 10-12 shipping turned me off. But i do not know how fedex prices compare to usps or ups so i have no clue how much it really costs. But the next orders i will mention i am a boardmember for the better shipping rate.

I custom stuff so i sometimes do not mind the stuff without packaging itself. But i am also a collector at heart. Well i have to go shovel again for the winter storm.

We use fed ex home delivery.....the rates we get are comparable to UPS the biggest difference from our experience is:

a) east coast orders arrive 1 day faster than UPS

b) fed ex ground/home delivery take MUCH better care of the packages in transit. NOT even close. UPS beats the living crap out of their shipments. I was told by a fed ex rep (who used to be a UPS rep) that the reason the packages get hammered sometimes is that UPS uses a conveyor belt system with ZERO regard for the size of the packages on the belt....so if you are unlucky (and we used to be extremely unlucky) if my little box of toys is on the belt just before a Piano....the little box goes off the conveyor belt and then the piano lands on top of it....fed ex is a little more careful I guess....maybe two different conveyor belts......one for smaller lighter boxes, one for bigger heavier boxes or something....all I know is that when I used to do the shipping for the toy club they used fed ex home delivery.....and I used to get orders back regularily because they provided an incorrect address and the boxes would come back in the condition I sent them in.....that pretty much sold me on their service (fed ex ground)

You mentioned $10 to $12 shipping on a single figure?....we charge $8 for a standard size (6 inch) figure......if you are talking about a deluxe boxed set then $10 or $12 is correct....most deluxe figures, if boxed properly with sufficient padding weighs somewhere between 4 to 6 lbs....on some orders we actually LOSE money on shipping an order with JUST a deluxe box set.

forgot you actually asked where they are to pay alot less in shipping. I just did not want to advertise other stores on your thread. But here are some non retail places. www.bbts.com www.amazingtoyz.com www.cornerstorecomics.com which are the same now. Time & space Toys but they are evil! There are a few more places but those are just off the top of my head. For retail i can name so many stores if you want. kbtoys, amazon even without free shipping on $25,toysrus.com even through they suck.

Non Retail
www.bbts.com (Owns btw!)
www.amazingtoyz.com (merged with corner)
www.cornerstorecomics.com
www,hometeams.com (they suck btw!)
www,timeandspacetoys.com? (they are crooks)
redjaxxcollectibles (owns!)

Retail online stores
toysrus (they ship in padded envelopes most times so does not count? he he)
amazon (even without free shipping on 25 they are alot cheaper)
kbtoys.com

I can go on and on but i do not want to go check my favorites. These are just off the top of my hand. But they all are very much cheaper. But they do not ship fedex & if they do i do not use that method.

I can check the weight of the $100 plus order my friend did at bbts if you like. It was alot of stuff since it was 50-75% off every item he bought. He bought alot of stuff for $2-4 each there.

But it is very odd you think everyone is really high to ship with these days. I order about $500 worth online each month for the past maybe 10 years.

Now props for your store.

Packaged the best you can get it!
Even if box is crushed which fedex does the items come fine.
Fast shipping.
Fast to ship the stuff.

This is why you rock kim! But i would suggest looking into UPS it is so much cheaper. Maybe they did contracts with them to use only them to get lower prices? But even the spawn store shipping is cheaper then fedex with you. But fedex got really bad atleast around me i get boxes damaged just like ups & usps does for many years now. So fedex is no longer the best shipper just more expensive. I loved fedex until they deliver so many roughed up boxes to me.

Toysrus and kaybee are good in some cases but will change out your items if they run out and don't pack very well. BBTS is good but more expensive than the others. The only one that is competitive with spawntoys is cornerstore comics and I'd say they are great for NECA/Hot Toys and a bit more expensive for McFarlane. I did have one return with cornerstore and they handled it well. I've never needed to return anything with spawntoys.

Do not get me wrong i know fedex prices they are really high. But fedex does not take care of boxes like they used to. You would be amazed how much fedex damages them now. It all depends on the hub they are passing through.

I am on the east cost myself i tried ordering that dynomite 12" with shipping was not worth it. So i added other items to see if it was worth it. I ended up taking things out & adding things back in. I just used to non fedex prices i guess. That is why i asked if you ship different methods for your orders. I do not like fedex they are just as bad as ups & usps now. I had to return stuff from all carriers in the past enough times to make me think they all suck now. Fedex customer service now is also a joke i had bad dealings with them. Just so you know i just telling you my experiences maybe you will look into other shipping methods which will help us both in the future. But i do order from you guys off & on which i am always happy. Just 75% of the time i always back out cause of the shipping rate. Most people i know would not care really for a one day longer delivery time if you add ups to shipping method.

But i do not know how these stores ship so cheap but they do. Once i pay off a big order i did i might go buy some stuff from you that i been putting off for months.

He asked for cheaper shipping rates. I hate TRU Online they are the devil! Did you recently check out bbts? you see the sales they have right now? Let me go call my friend to check to see if he knows total weight and shipping he paid for his $100 plus order on bbts. If you did not notice the sale there sorry alot of the good stuff now gone but still alot there. But we are just talking shipping prices not item prices. But all those stores i mentioned have good sales very often. You just wait and pounce! He he

Oh good place that everyone orders from is Newegg! There shipping is good to! Even on the items without free 3 day shipping option. If you switch from UPS to Fedex it is a really huge spike in shipping cost! But i am just trying to help maybe you will find new options to save everyone money. I still love your store kim! Trust me, I know this philosophy very, very well. :D

I have had many orders with all of the above and the shipping has been comparable. In fact cornerstore is a bit irritating in that they ship one figure at a time on preorders costing much more. Spawntoys lets you combine preorders then they wait until they are all ready to go.

If you switch from UPS to Fedex it is a really huge spike in shipping cost! But i am just trying to help maybe you will find new options to save everyone money. I still love your store kim! You are the bomb!

The same order, given they are all 6 inch size figures, would be $21 for shipping with us....slightly higher, but I doubt you will get better TLC with your order in terms of package condition and box condition when it arrives. Please also keep in mind we are in Seattle.....about as far away from anywhere that you can get......if we were in the middle of the country our shipping would probably be cheaper simply because of geographics (and no, Im not willing to move to save you guys shipping costs....i happen to like rain 10 1/2 months a year:D)

Well that prime voice helmet is heavy for one. That is a good price for all that stuff. These are not all lightweight figures. If i put all heavy type items in a order on your site it might be double. Not saying your site is not good at all. Just only started the subject asking if you allow for different cheaper shipping methods. I hate fedex they are not worth the extra money. BBTS also packs with great care so do you. I love both your stores you seen me reply to your older posts how i love your store. I just wanted to know if you offer or going to offer other shipping methods. I am not sure how this got to be a subject of who ships cheaper & package better. I can throw more facts but i do not want to spend time doing it. Time is money O=)

Trust me, I know this philosophy very, very well.

I have had many orders with all of the above and the shipping has been comparable. In fact cornerstore is a bit irritating in that they ship one figure at a time on preorders costing much more. Spawntoys lets you combine preorders then they wait until they are all ready to go.

I order from 30 plus stores off & on for many years. Each store has faults some more then others. But i was just talking about instock items. I preorder from amazingtoyz often now. They hold the stuff until the rest comes in to save shipping. Just leave in the checkout notes then email them to make sure they hold & ship all at once. BBTS has pile of loot which you add stuff to it then hit ship my stuff to ship it all at once to save shipping. Downfall there is you pay for stuff right away i believe. I am still looking for a place to preorder smallville figures but every store makes you order the complete set to get the hot chick one. I only want a few of that lineup not a set.

Kim how much would it be to ship one item? that be a good example. $4-6 is good price some cost $6-8 but those i goto last. Unless i need stuff in good shape then i pay more for a better place. That is when i like to order from you and bbts. But anyways how did this end up talking so in detail about this. Guess answer is no there is no other carrier you use. But i found out you give discounts if you mention the boardname. Nice to know i just hope you let me order when i mention my boardname now. Joking! Ok take care.

Hempy asked what we charge to ship a single figure ($8).......he also stated that $4 to $6 is a "good price"....sure it is...but that is not what it "costs" to ship one toy. I urge boardmembers to take advantage of low shipping rates.....because those companies wont last in the business so why not take advantage of it while you can.....thats just being a smart consumer. Please also be sure to check what you are paying for the toy figure....chances are (and Im not suggesting any of the outlets listed above are guilty of this) the price for the figure is substantially higher than other outlets (like us)....some of the more "crafty" online stores do this...promote dirt cheap cheaping but overcharge for the toy figures......those of us who intend to stay around for the long run wont play that game and cant afford to play the discount shipping game........anyone wanna start naming online companies who have come and gone in the past 7 or 8 years?.....i can think of 4 or 5 who were fairly prominent on the message boards...came across like big shots and are now long gone.....Ive been doing this for 20 years now...first straight retail and now 100% online......we may charge more for shipping (what it actually COSTS) but I think we make up for it with competent service and we are always going to be there.......mind you if gas hits $4 a gallon this summer as is predicted I may not be able to afford to drive to the warehouse.....:D

The other comment Hempy made was:

If I need stuff in good shape I order from.......

We ship every order (boardmember or not) so that you could drop it off an airplane at 30,000 feet and the contents wouldnt be affected (I think that is the UPS method of transporting and handling packages)......if you are an opener and arent concerned with the condition of the clamshells SAY SO in the comments section........one of the big problems with protecting the integrity of the clamshells is the costs to pad the box with air pillows....for most orders (more than 6 figures) we also DOUBLE box the order...with an additional layer of airpillows....that all costs money and must be factored into our shipping costs (online)......we assume, unless customers tell us otherwise, that everyone is a MOC collector...im sure there are alot of first time customers who are shocked that we spend as much time and energy as we do in this process....they basically rip the clamshells open and think we are complete idiots for packing the toys like they were farm fresh eggs or something....
