I have done some sculpting in the past but never anything really small and mostly just with clay. I need to make a small apple and I was wondering what I should use in terms of sculpting material and paint maybe even tool ideas would help.

Thanks in advance

For small parts and stuff that is sculpted on to existing figures I'd use aves apoxie sculpt since you don't need to bake it in the oven.
For other things, like large sculpts, I'd use super sculpey or something similar since it won't cure or fully harden until you bake it.

ditto... how small of an apple? you could go to your local hobby store(michaels, Hobby Lobby like stores if you have them) and check the doll section, they have a lot of smaller stuff you'd never think they made ;)

Thanks for the help

I'd use super sculpey or sculpey premo (my favorite, it's the most plastic-y and least brittle sculpey.) for something like that I'd put the sculpey on a toothpick, making the toothpick go where the stem would come out, that way you can work with it without squishing or getting fingerprints on it. Then use rubbing alcohol, the 70% seems to be a good strength, to get any blemishes or fingerprints out to smooth it. (use a soft bristle paintbrush. Then ya just cook at 275ยบ F for 15-20 min per quarter inch of thickness.

Or like actionfigure17 said you can try the apoxiesculpt, never tried it myself yet but I've heard great things about it. I'm hoping to try it on the next project I do.
