MENAGE-A-TRADE IN THE WORKS?
Posted by Mike Florio on February 28, 2008, 12:27 a.m.
As the 2008 league year quickly approaches, there’s talk of a possible three-way trade.
We’re told that the Jets, Lions, and Broncos are talking about a deal that would send Detroit defensive tackle Shaun Rogers to New York, Jets defensive tackle Dewayne Robertson to the Broncos, and Denver cornerback Dominique Foxworth and a second-round pick to the Lions.
The Lions also are looking at a trade for Jets linebacker Jonathan Vilma.

In other news, Lions raise ticket prices 15% because of "increased salaries."

Great yet another 2nd rounder for Millen to waste.
From what I heard the ticket prices were raised as high as 18%- courtesy of talk radio.

Surprised it didn't involve Javon Walker.

A couple years ago, I read a quote from an anonymous GM that was criticizing another GM. It said something along the lines of "3 way deals in the NFL? This is a big-boy's league, not playground shenanigans"

I wonder if the Lions would make that deal to solve one of their problems at CB, and then use the extra draft pick to make a trade for Vilma. That'd leave them light up front, but it'd solve two major needs.

My biggest fear is that Vilma is damaged goods. He has a degenerative knee condition, is young, and the Jets have shopped him hard. It doesn't add up why the Jets would give up on him unless there were larger issues. To me this sends up a red flag of sorts, and falls right in line with how the Lions operate.

I'm not sure exactly how bad his knee is, but that's certainly a concern. I think the main reason the Jets are giving up on Vilma is that he is NOT a 3-4 player. He'd be a perfect fit in the Cover-2 scheme that Detroit runs, and if he's healthy, he'd be a steal. I'm sure Detroit will perform due diligence on the physical and be sure that his knee isn't a complete mess.

Never try and apply typical logic when dealing with the Leo's. They defy it at every turn.

Isn't that just in regard to the WR position?

Sadly no. Suckage permeates the entire organization, and it starts at the top. How else do you explain that in a league set up to have parity, the Lions are the one team pretty much that has always failed?

The Hawks have had reason to raise their ticket prices. Meanwhile the Lions are relying on the slappys to keep coming to the well for more kool-aide. It is arrogant above words.
Proportionately their tickets have gone up more than any other Detroit team, despite them continually being the only team in the D that is a complete and utter failure.
The Wings (competing for the Pres. Cup, and Stanley cup) lowered their prices, the Stones (year in year out leaders in the East) have had stable ticket prices for some years, the Tigers (one of the best lineups in baseball, and highest payrolls) remain affordable to go to. it make NO sense for the Lions to raise their prices after last years fraudulent record.
Take into it that the NFL has one of the biggest TV deals in sports and profit sharing and makes even less sense.

I feel real Bad for Foxworth...he's a real nice guy and a Baltimore Area kid...I ran Track and played football against him in High School...

EXACTLY freezo. Not ONLY are the Lions the WORST team in the city to go to while having pretty much the highest prices, they're competing for the worst record (over the past half-century) in their entire league. Everything they do, EVERYTHING, screams they don't get it.
Seriously...you can walk up to Comerica DAY OF...and probably grab a SRO ticket for ten bucks...and you know you're going to see one of the top ranked teams in the league. TEN BUCKS. Even the WINGS are offering $9 seats. The Pistons run free tickets every so often through Meijer. Yet the Lions feel they need to raise the seats 15%. What a joke. Makes me all the happier to be a Stillers fan.

Yeah, I have been found myself drifting into Brown's games, and I used to hate them- perhaps stemming from family rivalry building. I'm just about done with the Lions things change at the top. They are smug and arrogant with absolutely no reason to be.

all's i was getting at, is that in 3 years the Seahawks have raised their pices 40%. but i can see what you guys are saying. i've been doing some research and i shouldn't complain because every site i've checked are more expensive than the Seahawks.

Yeah, I meant that the Hawks raised their prices AFTER they went to the SB. That denotes that at least the team is on the right path. The Lions have NEVER been to a Super Bowl. Not even close....and sure as hell not close LATELY. That's what I meant by quoting you....you'd think w/ a 15% increase the Lions went to the SB last year.

i like foxworth as a person, but honestly he hasn't been great on the field. maybe its our ******ed coverage schemes, but his receivers always seem to be open :(
i'm fine with losing him, esp if we can get something in return...
